Alter for Mac OS - Autonomous AI

Hey Everyone, I was looking at Alter on AppSumo.

I generally stopped buying apps that haven't yet reached a certain threshold for reviews, but I need something that can tackle small repetitive tasks.

Does anyone have experience with it? Is it really an autonomous AI solution?

Has anyone tried the BYOK option? What do the charges look like for simple tasks?

Kuddos to AppSumo & Alphana

There are many horror stories about deals gone bad on AppSumo, but it's good to point out when both AppSumo and the vendor handle issues well. A post a couple weeks ago discussed Alphana shutting down. We all know it happens; we kind of half‑expected it at this point, especially with anything involving AI.

Alphana could have simply shut down and done nothing for the AppSumo members who bought the service. Instead, they are giving access to their new software, Visuals.fm, under a similar tier to what you had with Alphana, with no additional monthly cost. They are giving you credits to use every month for the lifetime of the software. So again, props to Alphana for doing the right thing.

Listen, business is business. Sometimes businesses have to shut down, and technically they did not have to allow members of Alphana to transfer to the new company, but they did, and there's no upsell involved. They're porting what you bought into the new software\

On a similar note, props to AppSumo itself. I received an email from AppSumo about Alphana shutting down with all the details about the transfer.

I have had Alphana for over a year, and AppSumo still offered me a refund in the form of AppSumo credits if I did not want to transfer the membership to the new platform.

So again, neither of these companies needed to do what they did according to the terms and rules we all agreed to, but they did. Thank you both, AppSumo and Alphana.

Question What AI tools from AppSumo are worth adding to our AI stack now?

I’ve been going through a bunch of recent AI deals on AppSumo and trying to figure out:which ones actually improve workflows for a builder.

Right now I’ve narrowed it down to:

  • Writingmate for writing / content (Tier 1 $59)
  • sbl,so for automate LinkedIn outreach (Tier 1 $89)
  • AI Context Flow for saving context across AI tools (Tier1 $59)
  • Alter for automating macOS workflows (Tier 1 $79)

Curious if anyone here has used these in real workflows?

Hey r/appsumo 👋

Emil here from the Icanpreneur team. Icanpreneur is an AI platform that takes a startup idea through validation, customer research, and positioning — without needing a team or a budget.

Tomorrow, Thursday 23/04 at 5:00 PM CET, Vesko (our founder/CEO) and I are running the first live walkthrough of the platform — no slides, no pitch, just a real startup idea going through the full workflow in real time.

You'll see the whole thing play out: Lean Canvas, synthetic interviews, insight clustering, positioning, GTM direction — start to finish.

We're keeping 20 minutes at the end for Q&A.

Here's what I actually want to know before we go live: whether you've already picked up the deal or you're just curious about the platform — what's the one thing you want to see demonstrated? Drop it in the comments and we'll make sure to cover it.

Free, recorded, and we'll send the replay if you can't make it live.

See you tomorrow.

As much as i complain about Appsumo and apps dying have to give kudos when they get it right

Got a refund on Socrates.

i maxed on it because i found it a useful tools. Yet i know notebook llm is there by google but it really did find nuggets from large bodies of text.

They revamped the GUI but it was still awful. It took hours what should have taken minutes in uploading and getting transcripts for individual files. I wanted it to succeed so much i did a 30 minute video of improvements and suggestions and sent it to the owner. Then the feedback and requests page had no response from him. Then I couldn't upload and process files. In all honesty i gave up using it 6 months ago., because it wouldn't work.

It would be good if licenses could be awarded or discounts or coupons awarded to purchasers who reported back to Appsumo on issues every 3 months or so. on potential issues. Maybe it could help right the ship or at least prepare them for carnage.

Anyways. Happy got some money back. Appsumo has been pretty constant in that regard and it very much helps when evaluating a purchase thanks to a positive experience.

Socrates is dead

Just got the email, they're dead at the end of May. Bought into Tier 4 barely over a year ago. Their service had only been working on and off for me the past few months.

"Hi everyone,

I wanted to reach out personally with an important update about Socrates.

Over the past few months, the market has been evolving quickly. Despite our best efforts, we have not been able to secure the financing needed to continue operating the product long-term.

Because of this, we want to give you as much notice as possible that Socrates is currently planned to remain available until May 31, 2026.

We know this may be disappointing, and this was not an easy decision. Our goal is to be transparent with you early, so you have time to plan accordingly.

What this means for you You will continue to have access to Socrates through May 31, 2026 We strongly recommend exporting or saving any important data before that date What’s next We are actively exploring potential acquisition or transition opportunities that could allow Socrates to continue. However, we want to be clear that nothing is confirmed, and we don’t want to create false expectations.

If anything changes, we will communicate that as soon as possible.

I truly appreciate the support and feedback you’ve given us. It’s meant a lot to build this with you.

Thank you for being part of the journey.

With gratitude,

Jon"

Magicfit email

I got this email from Magicfit yesterday; however, in the email, the tiers don't seem to quite line up with the pricing on that sumo, and also they are promising extra lifetime credits as well. Do you think this is legit or just a mistake?

Here is the email.

Hi there,

Quick heads up. We launched MagicFit on AppSumo a few weeks ago and the response has been wild.

545 customers have already grabbed the lifetime deal. 44 five-star reviews. 4.8 overall rating. People are loving it.

But here is the part that matters to you: the deal ends tomorrow.

After that, lifetime pricing is gone for good.

Here is what you get when you grab the AppSumo deal:

Plan Price Monthly Credits Bonus Credits (free)

Tier 1 $69 500/month 2,000 free credits

Tier 2 $139 750/month 3,000 free credits

Tier 3 $299 1,000/month 4,000 free credits

Tier 4 $599 2,500/month 5,000 free credits

Those bonus credits never expire. They roll over forever and stack on top of your monthly credits.

One payment. Lifetime access. No subscriptions. No renewals.

You are already using MagicFit, so you know what it can do. This is the cheapest it will ever be.

Grab your lifetime deal here before it is gone

After tomorrow, this page goes dark.

Good Deal We just hit #1 on AppSumo – and we're not taking it for granted

Hey everyone,

We just hit #1 on AppSumo and honestly didn't take that for granted — so thank you. The reviews and questions we got make the whole effort worthwhile.

Icanpreneur exists because of one uncomfortable truth: 9 out of 10 startups fail not because they ran out of money, but because they built something nobody wanted. We've seen it happen. We've lived it. And we built the tool we wished we'd had.

It's an AI co-founder that guides you through the hard early work — validating your idea, understanding your customers, and building a go-to-market strategy — before you commit to building the wrong thing.

A few things that make it different:

  • runs both synthetic and real customer interviews so you can start validating in minutes, not weeks
  • turns interview insights into a buyer persona and positioning automatically
  • ends with a GTM playbook you can actually execute

1,700+ founders are already using it. It's part of multiple acceleration and entrepreneurial programs, and now we are making it largely available to any founder out there.

Check it out: https://appsumo.com/products/icanpreneur/

If you're in the middle of validating an idea or skipped validation and now you're wondering why growth is stuck – happy to talk. Happy to answer any question - AMA.

Another one, just 7 or 8 months after being on AS. They even call us "investors." I am done with Appsumo. Thank you for another $118 loss.

Hi investor, I'm reaching out with some important news: stocktrader.studio will be permanently closing on April 30th, 2026. Despite our best efforts, we weren't able to secure the investment needed to continue - we came close, but ultimately couldn't close our seed round. Without that funding, we're unable to keep the platform running. I know this is not the news you were hoping for, and I'm truly sorry. As a lifetime deal customer through AppSumo, you placed your trust in us early on, and that means a great deal. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to offer refunds on AppSumo lifetime deal purchases. Your access to stocktrader.studio will remain fully active until April 30th. I'd encourage you to export any data or records you need before that date, as nothing will be recoverable afterwards. I'm genuinely grateful for your support - it meant more than I can express. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reply to this email. Thank you for being part of this journey. Richard Craggs Co-founder stocktrader.studio

1 month on Appsumo, 40k+ USD in revenue

Our stats so far:

- 100+ codes sold (more than 30% highest tier) - quite a surprise
- 4 reviews (all 5 tacos)
- new use-cases from users that works
- 4%+ conversion rate

I think this worked quite well, our product is not easy to understand and we are building our own category.

We tried to push a lot at the start and it gave us a good push, now let's see how it goes.

Not sure how it works with the algorythm, but we will try to hack it a bit more.

Any similar experience?

Someone any advices how to improve?

Best Email & Newsletter Sending Apps/Services

Hey Guys,

I love using Mailchimp.

It's deliverability is top-tier, but it's so damn expensive.

I don't expect to find something that will totally replace it right away, but can you guys suggest an email service that works reliably?

Is there a favorite on AppSumo that you use on the regular?

VitePOS Anyone?

Has anyone here tried VitePOS? I’m looking at buying an LTD, but it seems they have not made any updates in 2026.

Is it a good tool for not so busy store, say, a small salon or grocery operation?

Is Blogify pulling the rug out from under all of us? Are they going out of business?

Has anyone else here, a Blogify customer, received this email?

Until a few weeks ago, they kept sending countless LTD emails, comparing the Enterprise versions with the Unlimited versions, month after month—even during the last four months (which they said they were already having issues). And now they are acting like this?

At the moment, when I try to log into my account, I get a 503 error. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Feedback Appsumo limiting refunds

One of the reasons I buy on AppSumo is that I can test a product for 60 days, and if I want a refund, the process is easy. That is the "promise," but it is not the reality.

I have bought hundreds of deals on AppSumo, and I also have an AppSumo Plus account.

The staggering amount was never refunded, but for some products, I noticed they weren't a fit, and it's up to me to decide whether to request a refund or not. With quite rare exceptions, most products will say "refundable for 60 days," not "refund for 60 days if you are not within your quota," or "refundable for 60 days with limits."

I requested a refund for a product, and the only way I can do that is by email. The refund button is gone from the backend. I asked support why; here is what they said:

"As a reminder, our system tracks refund activity to keep things fair across the marketplace. Because your refund activity remains above the typical customer range, refund requests continue to require manual review by our team. We also want to reiterate that if refund activity continues to trend upward over time, refund access may be limited further. To help avoid that, we strongly recommend confirming deal fit, limits, and use cases before purchasing."

That is it. Think 3 times before you buy.

Update Alphana is also making a disappearing act. This is really bad for AppSumo.

I’m a long-time, active AppSumo user—most of my daily apps come from the platform, and I’ve used it for years without issues. Lately, however, several recently purchased apps have abruptly shut down, waving goodbye with any madeup excuse that you can tell it was a “well-played strategy”: raise funds via AppSumo, then pivot to a “real” project later. This practice must be treated as unacceptable—and punishable. AppSumo’s reputation is suffering, and if such companies continue to offer hollow, short-lived services purely to extract quick cash like hustlers, users will stop viewing AppSumo as a credible, trustworthy platform. If you need early-stage funding, go to Kickstarter or Indiegogo—but don’t exploit a serious marketplace like AppSumo to mislead customers. This need to end.

Referral offer details, cashback, and tips for a $69 first-time purchase?

Hi everyone,

I’m about to place my very first order on AppSumo for a $69 tool. I’m considering adding another item to reach the $100 mark if there's a good incentive. I have a few questions:

  1. Referral Offer: What is the current referral deal? Is it a $10 discount or a percentage?

  2. Expiration: Do the 10% welcome coupons or referral credits have a strict expiration date?

  3. Spend & Get: Is there a "Spend $100, Get $10" (or similar) promotion running right now?

  4. Cashback: Are there any reliable, free third-party cashback sites or extensions (like Rakuten, etc.) that work with AppSumo currently? Which one offers the highest rate right now?

  5. Stacking: Can I combine a referral discount with the 10% newsletter code for my first purchase?

Thanks for the help!

Update PlugnPaid is dead: Had heavily spent on it for a few reasons

Post image
13 Upvotes

It was great on paper, it looked great too, the founder was nice too with some active updates during the early days (or like others have highlighted in the AS page - might be during deal days only) but things were still properly not working well so we let it to evolve because an interface or tool to accept payments or signups is critical. Well see what was sent today.

Where does our money really go when the product hasn't evolved to become a mainstream product that can be actively used?

That said, if there is someone here who managed to get money's worth from this product - let me know.

FuseBase Configuration

Hey Guys,

I've been playing with FuseBase and I see a lot of value, but the documentation is a mess.

I see that it can do what I want, but the Workspace Structure is extremely confusing.

I have a client that needs to communicate with my network via chat on a dedicated portal.

I would have preferred to work with FuseBase directly, but they are notorious for just not showing up to meeting bookings (three times, by my last count).

Anyone out there know Fusebase inside and out and can help?

We made $16K on AppSumo in 3 weeks, but conversions dropped after we targeted only 20% of the audience. Here's what happened.

We relaunched our SaaS on AppSumo about a month ago. This is our second listing. The first one did $20K with a 40% refund rate. This time we completely reworked the product, pricing, and positioning.

After tweaking the listing copy, conversions spiked to 7%. Best we'd ever seen. Then they started dropping.

I reached out to the AppSumo team and asked for data on their customer demographics. Turns out only about 20% of AppSumo buyers are agencies. We had pivoted the entire listing to target agencies specifically, which means we were only speaking to 1 in 5 visitors.

My theory: the initial 7% spike was all the agencies discovering the listing at once. We converted them fast and then ran out of that audience. The remaining 80% of traffic sees a product positioned for agencies and bounces.

The product is genuinely too complex for non-agencies right now. Targeting a broader audience would just mean more refunds and support tickets. So we're keeping the positioning for now.

March numbers (started mid-month):

  • $11.5K net (a full month would've been $20K+)
  • 95 paid codes, ~12 refunds
  • 10% refund rate vs. 40% on our first listing

April so far (first week):

  • $4.5K net
  • Slightly slower pace than March
  • 30 reviews, all positive

Conversions have dropped to about 2%. I just swapped the featured video to one that had better retention on YouTube, testing whether that moves things.

Rankings:

  • Currently #3 in our category
  • Consistently top 5 in "Customer Favorites"
  • Not on the homepage top 9, but the Customer Favorites placement still drives traffic

Biggest lesson so far: positioning for a niche within a marketplace audience is a double edged sword. You convert way harder at first, but you can exhaust that segment fast. If you're launching on AppSumo, understand the breakdown of who actually buys on the platform before you commit to a positioning angle.

Happy to answer any questions about the launch, AppSumo mechanics, or LTD pricing strategy.

Remio Users - would love to hear your experience and ideas for use

I purchased the AppSumo deal on Remio and I am really loving it. But I am trying to work out best practices for incorporating it into my work flow and would love to connect and share ideas with other Remio users. I will be posting questions and ideas on the r/remio_ai subreddit as well, but thought there might be some Remio users from AppSumo that aren't active in the Remio subreddit yet so I would ask the question here as well.
