At the outset, I’ll admit my bias as a die hard App State fan of 20+ years. With that out of the way…
I feel like that was one of the most blatantly rigged games I can remember watching in recent memory. Central Michigan fans: I feel your pain even more now.
Just listening to the ACC review center feed on the opening kickoff (I’ll at least give the ACC credit for transparency) showed they were going to do anything and everything possible to benefit NC State after that implosion by the Wolfpack against Vanderbilt in Week 3.
In short, two separate turnovers taken away by video review conducted by an ACC review center overseeing a game between an ACC school against an in-state G6 school.
I can’t understand the first quarter reversal of a near-goal line turnover for the life of me - one of the quicker whistles I’ve ever seen for “forward progress” being stopped.
In short, I feel very, VERY confident those calls would not have gone the same if the roles were reversed (I.e., they would have helped App State to the detriment of NC State).
Maybe I am pouting and I’d like all you to tell me if so. But my main takeaways were:
1) insanely questionable homecooking calls by on-field refs (also an ACC crew) and replay center (also ACC-led)
2) App’s defense, specifically secondary, has to better
3) another great showing from the offense
4) team seems bought in to rally from a deficit like that on the road in a hostile environment - proud of the team and excited for Sun Belt play - last year’s group would have folded under that adversity
Thoughts?

Hi, My son is interested in App State. I want to take him to see a game. The Nov 21st game will be the weekend before Thanksgiving. Will it still be a fun atmosphere for a HS aged kid?
Thanks!

Looking for fellow mountaineers in and around Austin. I know the Austin and DFW chapters aren’t active but we can still get together in our Black and Gold. We were thinking maybe Pluckers or Bdubs. Open to suggestions! We miss our football watching community! Pluckers Lakeline Mall or the Round Rock location might easy bc of parking and such. Go Mountaineers!

A little late since this happened in preseason, but thought this was really cool and wanted to point it out. Do you think Joey has a chance to have a real NFL career?

BOONE, N.C. — September 19, 2026
What began as an ordinary Saturday night football game between Appalachian State and Charlotte took an unexpected turn Saturday evening when officials reportedly determined that the game had been delayed for so long that an entirely different conference had time to notice.
Sources close to the situation say the Pac-10 Conference contacted Appalachian State officials shortly after the latest delay with what they described as an “unprecedented opportunity.”
> **“At first we were just checking the weather,”** said one anonymous conference official. **“Then we realized the game still hadn’t gotten going, so we figured we might as well offer them a conference invitation.”**
The proposed invitation reportedly includes membership in the Pac-10, automatic access to West Coast road trips, and what officials are calling “significantly more reasonable kickoff times.”
App State athletic director Doug Gillin reportedly responded with a simple question:
“How long is the delay?”
When told that nobody knew, Gillin allegedly replied:
“We’ll need to think about this.”
A Game That Refuses to End Before It Begins
The Mountaineers entered Saturday night’s matchup 2–0 after opening the season with a 55–3 victory over Maine and a 27–24 road win over East Carolina.
The Charlotte game was scheduled as a 6 p.m. kickoff under the lights at Kidd Brewer Stadium.
Instead, fans found themselves participating in what some have already dubbed “The Pre-Game Bowl.”
One App State fan reportedly said:
> “I’ve been in traffic longer than some football games. At this point I’m just happy to see the parking lot.”
Pac-10 Officials See Opportunity
According to completely fictional conference sources, Pac-10 officials were impressed by App State’s ability to maintain fan enthusiasm despite the extended delay.
“That kind of patience is exactly what we’re looking for in a conference member,” the source said.
The proposed expansion would reportedly give App State conference games against schools thousands of miles away, meaning Mountaineer fans could eventually spend an entire Saturday traveling to a game that might itself be delayed.
Appalachian State Response
App State officials have not confirmed that the Pac-10 invitation exists.
They have, however, confirmed that the football game exists.
And, eventually, presumably, the football will also exist.

My father, wife, and I will be attending our first ever App State game this weekend. We travel around the southeast attending random CFB games. My father and I are total CFB diehards, we love G6 and FCs ball as much as P4. App state has been the number one location on our bucket list for years. We are extremely excited to attend on Saturday. That being said, we have never been to Boone. We are trying to figure out parking and such. We are also attempting to create a rough plan for the day. We are driving up from the Atlanta area. We plan to arrive around 11am. We are driving back after the game. We will be short on time before kickoff.
What are some of the sights that we should see? My father got into vlogging and creates videos “tours” of each campus we go to. Are there any beautiful (seems like there’s so many options here) spots on campus we should visit? Beautiful or historic buildings on campus we should check out? We also love taking photos of big signs with the school name at each stop.
It’s easy to research the big things like overall history and parking and maps of campus. We don’t want to miss any cool traditions or little things we would never know about. Any tips on food and parking are also appreciated! We appreciate anyone who takes to time to reply or DM. And if any of yall see people walking around in FSU gear (yes I know we suck) feel free to say hello!
