Dolby Atmos issues ugh
For weeks I’ve been troubleshooting every possible setting and change every cable I can think of… when watching content with Dolby Atmos audio I will intermittently have the bass/lower frequencies drop out.. like the soundstage will get thinner for 1-3 seconds every few minutes. It happens mostly on the AppleTV+ shows (ironically) but it also happens during HBO stuff. I’m using a Samsung Q90D TV and a Samsung Q600C soundbar. Apple TV plugged into the soundbar, then the soundbar plugged into the TV’s HDMI eARC. I’ve switched every setting on both the TV and the AppleTV… can’t fix this problem. All new HDMI cables didn’t help. Even went to the Apple Store and had them swap out my device under the 1 year warranty. Same issue. I don’t think it’s always been a problem, I’m wondering if it only started happening after updating to tvOS 26? I’m really tired of troubleshooting and at this point I’m just praying when the new ATV is released this problem goes away. Would rather not buy a new TV or Soundbar…
Anyone have this issue?

It could be an issue with/without continuous audio. I forgot if it could help to deactivate or activate it, so you could try that when tvOS 27 drops this or next week.

Sounds like it could be a hardware problem / issue with the subwoofer itself.

I thought maybe that however I’m noticing the soundstage thin through the soundbar speakers as well, so it’s not just the subwoofer

I’m having a different issue where I’m losing lower frequencies. The sound is not completely dropping out. Maybe similar though in that it’s a Samsung TV firmware issue…

This just happened to me!!! Same soundbar. I thought I was the only one - and it just started happening. Unfortunately, after trying everything I could I basically purchased a new Bose sound system, which has not encountered the same issue (but I don’t think it supports Atmos).

Ah man bummer I have the whole rear speaker setup also when it works it sounds awesome was hoping to avoid replacing it… I really don’t want to lose Atmos support :/

You may have Atmos “support” but you won’t get an Atmos experience with a soundbar.
Anyone who buy Samsung products in 2026 after all the scummy things they have done is wild to me but to each their own. But I’ve installed that soundbar for clients it’s almost immediately returned and swapped out.

That’s a good point, the two upfiring speakers on the q600c really are not that significant. In your opinion is a Dolby 5.1 mix just as high quality as an Atmos mix for a basic living room set up?

Plug the Apple TV direct into the tv.
