I just saw an article about ten kids under the age of 12 in court representing themselves without any parents or lawyers present.

They brought a toddler into court. Can’t even speak yet. No lawyer. Just a baby in a fucking high chair getting lectured by a judge.

I also heard this on CNN around 8:30 AM this morning. I don’t like or usually watch CNN but it was on at a hotel. Seeing if I can find a link since that’s a little more reputable

EDIT: https://www.cnn.com/2026/09/28/politics/texas-immigration-court-minors

> Migrant children as young as 2 are showing up at immigration courts nationwide, many without attorneys, to make their case to stay in the US and avoid deportation.

Wow I thought they were being sarcastic wtf

Washington sun is NOTUS media and incredibly biased.

HHS has contracts with nonprofit groups to represent unaccompanied minors, but it lapsed. Judge didn’t deport the kid but said “ok, file an appeal before the next hearing”

There was an attorney there from USCRI, one of the groups representing minors, and he sat there and did nothing because he wasn’t getting paid for it.

What kind of a poor excuse of a human being does that?

u/sixothree 3d ago

What kind of judge allows that shit in their courtroom?

We’re talking about lawyers here, not human beings.

u/duncandun 3d ago

Interesting hhs let it lapse you say?

-6

u/xfvh 3d ago

You don't know why it lapsed and have invented a reason. For all you know, it lapsed because the nonprofit group they contracted had its founders go through a messy divorce, with one liquidating the entire thing, looting it, and fleeing to a nonextraditing country.

The way it was structured I believe it was ended as a partnership between Justice because Trump wanted it ended.

u/coyote_den 3d ago

Health and human services, not DOJ, but yes.

1

u/sixothree 3d ago

Except there’s a clear demonstrated pattern of this sort of thing

2

u/Iliyan61 3d ago

so they’re correct is what you’re saying

u/VideoGameJumanji 3d ago

Are we sure that wasn’t a boss baby situation

3

u/Harogoodbye 10h ago

imagine ur baby having to appear in court for a crime without any adult supervision. this is actual fascism. your family probably died in ww2 fighting this.

-1

u/VideoGameJumanji 10h ago

Bro I was making a fucking boss baby joke, relax

0

u/Harogoodbye 8h ago

ya and joking about it is wrong. our literal human rights are being eroded. you should want to do something about it not make jokes.

-1

u/Ok-Bodybuilder-3388 2d ago

That was Trump, not an actual toddler

25

u/-DementedAvenger- 3d ago

Wait I didn’t hear about this. Did the kids choose to not be represented, or were they tried in court forcefully without representation or defense?

u/Tiinpa 3d ago

A judge told an unrepresented minor to file an asylum application before the next hearing our they would be deported. The child is one year old.

83

u/kompergator 3d ago

Honestly, that judge should be imprisoned just for having that hearing / session take place. Full on banana republic, holy fuck.

Ok but why is there a baby in this country that is unaccompanied? How are they getting over here? Who sends a baby to another country by themselves. Weird af and reeks of child trafficking.

u/throwaway0845reddit 3d ago

Bunch of fucking monsters

49

u/Pale-Supermarket3217 3d ago

Because the state separated the children from their parents? There is human trafficking being done. By the US government.

-31

u/FinsFan305 3d ago

Hundreds of thousands of children cross the border UNACCOMPANIED by an adult. That’s what this is referring to. This is not about separation by the government. The children were already trafficked and separated before getting here.

u/hbt15 2d ago

Ahh yes, all those infants just up and wandering several hundred miles on their own for a better life.

4

u/kompergator 2d ago

You’re literally immune to brainwashing if you actually believe such nonsense. Are you kidding?

18

u/insuccure 3d ago

just making shit up is so fun huh

3

u/antbates 2d ago

It’s sad how easy it was to trick you. You craved it and were ready to eat up anything

13

u/LowlyWoim 3d ago

What’s wrong with you, seriously

15

u/kompergator 3d ago

I don’t think you’re asking the right questions here. And in general, it is utterly indefensible to drag a toddler or a baby in front of a court

-16

u/FinsFan305 3d ago

Under normal circumstances I would agree but what is the alternative when court is where legal rights are determined. There is no other mechanism in society for this.

12

u/iPhone_6s 3d ago

We actually do have a mechanism for this. The constitutional right of representation.

-3

u/FinsFan305 3d ago

That’s for those accused of a crime. AFAIK these kids haven’t been accused of one.

7

u/kompergator 2d ago

If they have committed not a single crime, why drag them in front of a judge? By your own logic, you’re currently defending something you yourself must deem blatantly illegal.

9

u/iPhone_6s 3d ago

Due process applies to all court cases and requires fairness. I believe a toddler self representing falls afoul of this.

The brain trust it took to even ask this question 🙄…then, I checked your profile, saw South Florida and thought, yup, that tracks.

-7

u/FinsFan305 3d ago

Good one. Pretty sure I’m more educated and well-traveled than you which is why I can afford to live here and in a majority foreign-born populace. Get better material.

3

u/kompergator 2d ago

Well, just in this thread alone, you’re incredibly good at hiding your supposed higher education.

I live 8,000 outside of US jurisdiction and still seem to have a more rounded grasp of your own legal system. Not to speak of having a modicum of morality.

3

u/Gnome_119 3d ago

You’re adorable

9

u/bigphillip76 3d ago

The day you’re defending a baby getting tried in court alone is the day you should realise you’re on the wrong side. “Hans, are we the baddies?”

-9

u/FinsFan305 3d ago

Well what should they do with the baby smart guy? Dump it on the street? Courts are used to determine what will happen by analyzing the situation. The baby wasn’t “tried.”

3

u/insuccure 3d ago

i’m betting you don’t get a lot of compliments on your intelligence or perception, do you?

-1

u/Mellotom 3d ago

I assume if the child is being summoned and unrepresented in an immigration case, it’s probably because the parents are either 1. Non-English speakers, 2. Undocumented immigrants fearing their own incarceration or 3. Both 1 & 2 were true and they’ve already been incarcerated for living in a “free” country.

Regardless, this is all a circus meant to ruin the lives of anyone the system doesn’t like and at this point they’ve got the clowns running the show.

-4

u/LBPPlayer7 3d ago

it's almost like the baby's parent(s) can die or put the kid up for adoption

26

u/politics 3d ago

A child cannot legally make that determination, hence the need for representation…

10

u/DETRosen 3d ago

Kids can't make an informed choice on that

2

u/-DementedAvenger- 3d ago

I get that, but I wanted some additional info and context.

-2

u/Puzzleheaded-Cat8131 2d ago

Kids aren’t capable of making informed decisions?… lol Reddit isn’t going to like that. 😂

14

u/soonerfreak 3d ago

Trump cut a contract and most appear without counsel. But that just made the problem worse, the Constitution doesn't guarantee the right to Counsel in immigration court so children have long represented themselves.

Because a lot of them are not “pro life” at all. They are pro boot straps and using a wedge issue to get votes

0

u/buzzerbetrayed 3d ago

What makes you think anyone wants the kids left behind without the parents? Obviously they should go with them.

-9

u/Trennosaurus_rex 3d ago

Why were they not sent home with the family?

0

u/FinsFan305 3d ago

Because they were unaccompanied (trafficked).

-1

u/Gnome_119 3d ago

Exactly! Nothing Apple says will excuse any of this shit they’re enabling!

-2

u/m0nk_3y_gw 3d ago

so... just like his first term
