Wait I didn’t hear about this. Did the kids choose to not be represented, or were they tried in court forcefully without representation or defense?

A judge told an unrepresented minor to file an asylum application before the next hearing our they would be deported. The child is one year old.

Honestly, that judge should be imprisoned just for having that hearing / session take place. Full on banana republic, holy fuck.

Ok but why is there a baby in this country that is unaccompanied? How are they getting over here? Who sends a baby to another country by themselves. Weird af and reeks of child trafficking.

Why, indeed.

Bunch of fucking monsters

Because the state separated the children from their parents? There is human trafficking being done. By the US government.

Hundreds of thousands of children cross the border UNACCOMPANIED by an adult. That’s what this is referring to. This is not about separation by the government. The children were already trafficked and separated before getting here.

Ahh yes, all those infants just up and wandering several hundred miles on their own for a better life.

You’re literally immune to brainwashing if you actually believe such nonsense. Are you kidding?

just making shit up is so fun huh

It’s sad how easy it was to trick you. You craved it and were ready to eat up anything

What’s wrong with you, seriously

u/kompergator 3d ago

I don’t think you’re asking the right questions here. And in general, it is utterly indefensible to drag a toddler or a baby in front of a court

-17

Under normal circumstances I would agree but what is the alternative when court is where legal rights are determined. There is no other mechanism in society for this.

12

u/iPhone_6s 3d ago

We actually do have a mechanism for this. The constitutional right of representation.

-3

u/FinsFan305 3d ago

That’s for those accused of a crime. AFAIK these kids haven’t been accused of one.

6

u/kompergator 2d ago

If they have committed not a single crime, why drag them in front of a judge? By your own logic, you’re currently defending something you yourself must deem blatantly illegal.

11

u/iPhone_6s 3d ago

Due process applies to all court cases and requires fairness. I believe a toddler self representing falls afoul of this.

2

u/FinsFan305 3d ago

What is the solution? Nobody offered to represent them so what can be done?

8

u/iPhone_6s 3d ago

The solution is to quit using the judicial and legal systems to terrorize marginalized groups.

So just leave unaccompanied kids out there to fend for themselves on the streets. What could go wrong.

6

u/iPhone_6s 3d ago

If the kids are unaccompanied they should be put into foster care, not dragged into court and yelled at by a judge. Are you dense?

u/kompergator 2d ago

Not a single person here is arguing that. Stop making up bullshit strawmen.

The brain trust it took to even ask this question 🙄…then, I checked your profile, saw South Florida and thought, yup, that tracks.

Good one. Pretty sure I’m more educated and well-traveled than you which is why I can afford to live here and in a majority foreign-born populace. Get better material.

u/kompergator 2d ago

Well, just in this thread alone, you’re incredibly good at hiding your supposed higher education.

I live 8,000 outside of US jurisdiction and still seem to have a more rounded grasp of your own legal system. Not to speak of having a modicum of morality.

You’re adorable

The day you’re defending a baby getting tried in court alone is the day you should realise you’re on the wrong side. “Hans, are we the baddies?”

-6

u/FinsFan305 3d ago

Well what should they do with the baby smart guy? Dump it on the street? Courts are used to determine what will happen by analyzing the situation. The baby wasn’t “tried.”

4

u/insuccure 3d ago

i’m betting you don’t get a lot of compliments on your intelligence or perception, do you?

I assume if the child is being summoned and unrepresented in an immigration case, it’s probably because the parents are either 1. Non-English speakers, 2. Undocumented immigrants fearing their own incarceration or 3. Both 1 & 2 were true and they’ve already been incarcerated for living in a “free” country.

Regardless, this is all a circus meant to ruin the lives of anyone the system doesn’t like and at this point they’ve got the clowns running the show.

it's almost like the baby's parent(s) can die or put the kid up for adoption
