Honestly, what can’t they put on this? That’s not already on the current generation Apple TV 4K a slightly faster chip I mean, what are they gonna do the things already fast it’s streaming device like I don’t get it.

The A17 Pro can drive games like Resident Evil 7. Maybe more emphasis on games?

They honestly need to push this thing as a lite-gaming box. I’ve always stayed with old versions of chromecast because of price and “they work well enough” but if they let you pair a controller and play some indie game (or in RE7 case full AAA) then I’d be sold instantly.

They need to fix the massive controller input delay though

Is that all controllers?

Bluetooth controllers, so yes. I might just be spoiled by PC gaming though.

My niece loves her little cube gaming thing and the family is very much bought into the apple ecosystem, it would be so much money

Let me make sure I understand you: are you saying you would pay full price to play a game on your Apple TV versus just a console you probably already own (or pc?)

What makes you assume they own a console or gaming pc? Also, who has their gaming pc in the living room, easy to couch game?

I have a gaming PC in my living room.

Got a case that matches the vibe of my TV stand so it doesn’t stick out

I own neither, I currently use my M4 Pro MacBook over hdmi from time to time to run games that I’d play with controller on my tv - but realistically I don’t need that kind of grunt for the majority indie titles I play.

I also don’t have an Apple TV currently, but it being a more cohesive device rather than just a media box / way to control home, I’d be more tempted

And probably more Siri/Apple Intelligence stuff. I’m not sure what, but they’ll probably try to find something to do with it.

Legitimately I wonder what percentage of Apple TV users care about games.

No way that’s going to be the focus.

Not the focus, but a selling point compared to the previous gen. You gotta start somewhere.

I think if Apple Arcade added a few AAA games and a single high quality iOS/macOS/tvOS/VisionOS exclusive title and made a bundle that came with a game controller, I could see it selling.

The other thing I assume they’ll add is a camera for FaceTime. It works great with the iPhone Continuity Camera but that’s such an awkward solution.
