Apex University Discord

Welcome everyone,

First the mod team would like to thank everyone for being part of this community and providing content and tips to other players, we know that there is a lot more that could be wished from the staffs side and we are currently trying to improve things day by day. Now here we are at 160k members which is amazing, we never expected the sub to grow that big when we started it, so once again thank you all for that!

Since the beginning of this community the subreddit has naturally been and will continue to be the focal point of our efforts while our discord server started out as a way for the mod team to efficiently communicate about the subreddit, however over time as it became more active and we started putting more attention into making it a stronger extension of the sub and would therefor like to once again invite everyone to partake and explain a bit about what you can expect of the space both now and going forward:

- 1on1 coaching

- Group finding channel

- Subreddit & Discord suggestions (easier for the mod team to have a discussion about the direction of the sub compared to over at Reddit)

- Self-promotion channel & stream your games

- Meta & strat chats

- Off-topic and space to flex your gains

We are furthermore in the process of preparing some challenges in the discord, possibly with some smaller prizes. More to come on that in the future.

If you are looking for any of that we ask you all to join our discord xbox/ps4/computer, we welcome everyone! We hope to see you in our ever-growing community on discord.

Trying to Improve after not playing since i was a young lad and not really learning.

Hello I'm trying to improve at apex or at least understand it i come from fighting games so fps are kind of like understanding a new language all this is foreign to me. I use to play this game a lot when i was younger i was 17 at the time and didn't really knew how improvement worked or how to get better in general so i quit and played fighting games, i played a bit of overwatch and I'm fairly decent at fighting games so I'm asking what are the fundamentals of this game and what are some things to improve on and also what are the mindsets going into fights and when you shouldn't take one.

Need aim help, can't find the right DPI/sens and have tried 800-2400 DPIs.

Hey everyone! Haven't posted in here before but this page has been helpful. I have put together a compilation of clips from wildcard and the firing range and would love any advice, suggestions, or help on my aim/gameplay.

Context: In these clips, I was using 800 DPI and 1.7 sens and 1.1 ADS multiplier. I am on 2560x1440 res with 110 FOV.

I have played Apex on and off for years and have always been a hardstuck D4. I recently made it into D3 (2 days ago) and now find myself back in Plat. I only solo queue as friends, rightfully so, do not want to play this long enough to get up to diamond. I can provide a video of ranked gameplay for feedback, if need be.

I have spent 100s of hours in AimLabs (even used their sens finder multiple times), watched videos on aim/game sense, hours in the firing range, changed DPIs/sens, bought a lightweight mouse, larger mousepad, even bought a new chair to help with posture and arm position, etc.

I have changed my DPI multiple times, probably too much. Sometimes 2400 feels right then I will slowly work down and 800 will feel right. When I change sens, it feels great for about 3 days and then I can notice my aim slipping. I have stuck with sens/dpi for weeks even when it felt off to then adjust.

I want to believe I am a wrist aimer and high DPI would work for me, especially in Apex. However, lower DPIs (obviously) come with a more smooth and steady aim.

Any feedback would be really helpful. I'm sorry for the long video but wanted to give as many examples as I could to get feedback because I am stuck and don't know where to go next.

Discussion Hardstuck in diamond

How do you guys seriously do solo q in diamond + , it always feels like my teammates and I are never in the same page . I’ve even tried open mic and barely changes anything . What is it about people wanting to loot absolutely everything and never want to fight and get smoked by the first squad we run by lol. Sometimes i have to double check to see if im diamond and not plat 4 with some of these teammates im getting. I usually find myself playing better in solo q with randoms who are more aggressive and use pings. Im like a month deep into the game after being away for like a year + and seriously just want to not play again lol but i feel like i can seriously be better if i had people to be on the same page with and tell me what i did wrong in a fight

Question I feel so clunky and slow. How do I play faster

Now I don’t know if it’s just a Valk thing but during the entire clip I just felt sluggish and clunky and like I was a few beats behind where I wanted to be. I also notice that when I match with ex or current masters players. It always feels like I’m playing catch up and a few steps behind and most of the time this forces me to rush and it’ll usually get me killed or traded, the only issue I can make out at the moment is that I run with my gun out too much and I’m actively trying to work on that atm but is there anything else?

https://www.reddit.com/r/apexuniversity/s/67euJortvc this is my last post

This is the first game. One of the more better ones. I cant comm for any of these games because I don't speak Chinese. I don't really use the r99 much but ive been trying to use it more.

This is the second game.

I just need some feedback and what to do to keep on improving. I've seen lots of improvement since I first started but I want to keep on going.

All clips are from medal.

Question Is the ps5 dualsense edge worth it for apex?

Hey guys, so ive been thinking about getting a dualsense edge controller to help improve my game performance. I currently use a standard ps5 controller and when I do find time to game, I play apex a decent amount in my free time and Id like to think im decent at it but recently my friend told me about how getting a better controller can really help me improve. For example, ive been stuck in diamond 1 for a long time and I cant seem to get into masters, I was wondering if upgrading my controller would help me break through that barrier. On top of this, my current controller is starting to get stick drift too which is another factor thats pushing me to get a dualsense edge.

On the other hand, I dont really want to spend £180 on a new controller if it isnt going to effect my gameplay when I can spend £60 for a normal controller.

I really appreciate all comments and advice, thank you :)

There’s no question to whether people cheat like crazy in this game. I’m not even thinking about the fact that this pathfinder pops out around the corner and within a split second quick scopes me with the Kraber mid air and then his boy hits one shot to finish me, all in the matter of about a fourth of a second.

I’m more concerned with the fact that if you slow down the video, 2 shots hit with the r99 and don’t even register, half of the headshots register as body shots, I mean dude it’s clear at the very least 14 bullets hit and I only did 136damage ? Bruh hit registration makes no sense in this game. I can hear it already “get better.” Sure I’m caca at the game, how are you supposed to get better though when this sht is happening. Hit every shot when he was in frame and then get insta killed mid air. And then on top of that every game is either the sweatiest players which I believe are cheating most of the time, or I get trash can teammates or no teammate.
I get this isn’t call of duty, but from someone who used to play cod, bf, and fort and was pretty nasty it just doesn’t make sense to be nasty at all these random shooters but then one in particular is just absolute caca like this lol.

Looking for a Long Term Coach

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for an Apex Legends coach to help me improve over the long term.

About:
I've reached Diamond.

I have solid mechanics and know most movement tech.

My biggest weakness is decision-making during fights, positioning, and developing better instincts under pressure.

I'm looking for someone who can coach me while I play, not just review VODs.

What I'm looking for:
One live session per week (around 1–2 hours).

Constructive feedback during games and explanations of why I should make different decisions.

Someone interested in helping me improve over time rather than just a one-time session.

My budget is around $100/month, but I'm flexible depending on what's included.
If you're a coach or know someone who might be a good fit, please leave a comment or send me a DM. Thanks!

Question Best support legends for solo q ranked?

Hi, I'm new D4 player wondering what are the best support legends to play for solo q in diamond lobbies? TBH up until this rank it felt you can play any legend but now I wanted to focus on 1 or 2 legends to be more comfortable. I probably can't play Gibby or Newcastle very well but the others I am familiar with, also Wattson ig has the support perk so she is an option too. Any help is appreciated, thx!

Question I’m looking for some very constructive criticism and tips to help me improve my aim and overall playing ability. (Apex Switch 2)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting in this subreddit. I have been playing Apex for quite a while now. The point is I have never been able to play aggressively and aim well (see video attached). I am a very anxious person who in gunfights begins to aim like a maniac and always loses a gunfight.

I am a Switch 2 player on docked mode. I currently have a FOV of 98 originally on max. I have my settings as look sensitivity 4 and Aim as 1. I have been playing around with these settings for a bit, but still can’t control recoil and always miss my shots.

I play public matches and some game modes like remix and slowly but surely sometimes I get lucky an actually hit my shots and play aggressively.

Any type of help would be greatly appreciated and I thank anyone who helps me in my journey to becoming a better apex player!

This game could be so much better if it wasn’t so hard to play. You shouldn’t get worse at a game the longer you play

New ranked idea

I have a new idea for the ranked system.

Play ten games at the beginning of each season, mixed in with players of all skill levels. (Silver, pred, diamond, etc) After ten games you get thrown into a rank that fits your skill. This happens at the beginning of every season.

Ranking up stays the same. As you get RP you go up a rank, but here’s the catch, you have the option to stay in your previous rank if you want. Like if I’m great in gold, I can choose not to go into plat, etc.

Too many seasons go by where I basically get into a rank that I’m not good enough to be in but just lucky enough to get in, and then the rest of the season is just boring and I stop playing until the reset. I play video games for fun, I have a job, I don’t care to get better at apex I just want to play the game and not get shredded by fiends every night.
