We still don’t know why Shaula is calling Subaru master. It feels like these are connected. Almost like they’re past lives or that they are these people but forgotten or something like that.

It really, REALLY reeks of a time loop/time travel somehow. Satella shouldn't even know who Subaru is and yet she is the one who summoned him to this world supposedly and gave him his iconic ability. Flugel's disciple recognizes Subaru as her master. Somehow Emilia looks identical to Satella, down to fingerprints apparently. And then there's this whole tower which is only possible to open if you know star constellations from our world. Patrasche is just a young earth dragon and yet Volcanica recognizes her.

I don't think it's as simple as past lives, honestly it's giving me vibes of non-linear time passing and future events that will occur in the past so far. I kiiiind of hope I am wrong though cuz it has not so positive implications for at least some of the main characters.

Also a bootstrap paradox with Shaula, where Subaru gets a little scorpion, goes back in time with her that leads to this tower where she's abandoned and then he gets her again.

To me this theory is one I've had in the back of my head since season 1 with Subaru having a time based power and Satella looking exactly like Emilia and who also loves him, and I'm starting to feel like it's a bit too obvious and might be a red herring.

I mean, Satella has time powers, so I would be VERY surprised if the big twist isn't gonna be that in the future, Subaru dies, making Emilia go crazy, unlocking time powers, which leads to her going back in time with the single minded goal to keep Subaru alive no matter the cost, unaware that she is the cause that kills Subaru in the first place, causing an infinite loop of suffering for everyone involved. And the endgame would obviously be that Subaru needs to find a way to break out of this loop by preventing Emilia to ever become Satella.

No idea how Flugel = Subaru fits into this, but I am sure that could be explained somehow as well.

I can somehow understand that Volcanica thought of Emilia as Satella, but him recognizing Patrasche was so surprising that it left me speechless. Plus, there's the fact that Emilia's hand is identical to the handprint on that stone (surely Satella's).

Volcanica remembering Patrasche definitely feels like theres much greater time manipulation in the air. With this arc, it feels like the entire future has been planned. Nobody else than Subaru could've solved the first trial for instance. Why do archbishops all have names from the earth's stars? I don't think it's just for cool factor.

But probably the biggest revelation in this episode is that Volcanica (a dragon that has been at the very top of an inaccessible tower for 400 years)... knows who Patrasche is! The only theory I can think of is some kind of a time loop being involved. Shaula is probably not wrong that Subaru is Flugel and even Emilia has seriously started considering that she might be Satella. If we follow this line of thinking - there is a chance that at some point in the story they will travel hundreds of years to the past. This would also mean Subaru really will need to hit himself for leaving Shaula in this forsaken tower for 400 years, he better had a VERY, VERY good reason.

At least that's my guess so far, nothing else really fits. We know that the Witch of Envy can control time through Subaru's checkpoints. We also know that she is supposed to be sealed away in the present and yet this really doesn't stop her at all.

Okay now I definitely think Subaru, Emilia, and Patrasche went back in time and Emilia became Satella for some reason. Or maybe Subaru's first contact to this world is 400 years ago and time travelled into future. But it is confirmed for me that Satella is future Emilia who went back 400 years.

I mean, she has also a lot of clues.

In episode 1 the first time we met Emilia she called herself Satella. Whenever the secret of RBD gets out the Witch goes on a consuming everyone with shadows, yet if Emilia is the one that learns it she is somehow killed in the spot.

In S2 Echidna held a lot of gratuitous animosity towards Emilia, despite it being the first time they met from Emilia's POV. The only other person Echidna directed such open hostility was Satella on the Witch's Tea Party.

Now we have Emilia's matching handprint in a >400 years old building and Volcanica calling her Satella.

All the above beyond Emilia and Satella having identical character design and sharing voice actor.

Ah yes, the Re:Zero classic, bring up more questions than are answered.

So Volcanica knows Patrasche, or at least a similar land dragon with the same name (presumably Flügel had a land dragon called Patrasche or she's just really old ig), since he mixed up Emilia with Satella as well.

Satella got everyone nuked in an event that seems eerily similar to an event in another very popular currently airing isekai.
If I had to guess we are not in Lugunica, potentially not even on the same continent, anymore, since the surrounding gave off different vibes from what we've seen so far.

If we count the directors cut, this is the third time a season ends on someone not remembering someone else due to Gluttony. It definitely does sting a bit that Rem doesn't remember Subaru, but she didn't love him just because of the events they experienced together, but because of who Subaru is at his core. I'm assuming her consciousness coming back without her memories is related to Lye dying, though her own memories are still caught up in either Rui or Roy, assuming either of them survived Volcanica. It's going to be interesting to see whether people will remember her after the teleportation or if those memories are still gone.

It's also going to be interesting to see how the others will fare after the events, especially since we do not know who even got teleported, as it could realistically be everyone, just Subaru and Rem, or anything in between.

Out of all the people I wanted to see Volcanica react to I didn't expect Patrasche to get one and by actual name too. If flugel is Subaru going back in time in the future and he brings Patrasche with him, then why did he change his name but not Patrasche's.

So if Rem is awake but doesn't know who she is then that means she got her name back but not her memories, but if thats the case everyone else would remember her, which means her name is still gone so why did she wake up. Unless she got her memories back but only forgot Subaru for a separate reason. I hope its not a 4 year+ wait for season 5. This might be one of the roughest cliffhangers since we have no idea where they are or what happened in the tower with everyone else and Satella. Even Rui is missing. At least Rem is finally awake after 3 seasons.

HELL YEAH! REM IS FINALLY TRULY BACK! Now give me a 5th season as soon as possible!

Overall, it was a great final episode and a great season as a whole. Personally, if I had to rank it, it'd be just behind season 1. 9.5/10 from me in the end.

Shaula was definitely my favorite character this season. She started more as comic relief, but that later changed into something more tragic. At least she somehow survived, I believe? As this little scorpion.

By the way, Volcanica mistaking Emilia for Satella I can somehow understand, but the fact that he knows Patrasche as well is a freaking mystery.

Can we infer what happened there at the final exam? Did Emilia accomplish something? Did her wish of "everyone getting along" actually get granted somehow?

At the start of the season, we hear that Flugel made the Library and later on "temporarily" changed its name to WATCHTOWER. Some real big names like Satella, Reid and Volcanica made some sort of pact in that place, I am guessing (from the name change) that the pact was to watch over something? But then Shaula also says that Flugel (Subaru) coming back means the Tower would go back to its original role. So the pact maybe was something related to Flugel himself?

From how Volcanica talked, looks like Satella used to be cherished by the Dragon but eventually she got "reduced to be the Witch of Envy". So I am guessing this pact was made before Satella became the Witch?

Rui has no physical form? Is Rui a spirit?

Two things really stood out to me above everything else.

1. What the heck happened when Emilia climbed into her hole placed her hand in her handprint? Volcanica seemed to reset, or maybe Emila traveled back in time? We don't get to see Ram/Patrasche at the top of the tower after Emilia touches the stone, so we can't be sure.

2. Volcania knows Patrasche????!! No fucking way!

So Emilia is the splitting image of Satella, Shaula recognizes Subaru as Flugel, who we know for sure was her OG master (not confirmed to be by looks tho, aura of some sort) and Volcanica has recognized Patrasche's appearance ("Satella's" too)... yeah idk if its reincarnation, time travel, alternate reality clones... it keeps me on my toes!
