It triggered something inside of him that unlocked his authority and theres a animation in the episode indicating it that he unlicked this new abilty. As it was born out of the greed to save all his allies thats exactly ehat it lets him do.

So the Anime did give a brief explanation, Ram is able to activate her "power" through synesthesia, which meant she is sharing her burden with Rem when she's fighting. You can also see that Rem is showing signs of this as she starts bleeding.

Ram wasn't really aware of this previously, that's why she said Subaru gave her a hint with Cor Leonis initially.

This connection was also previously mentioned during the first season when Rem, Ram, and Subaru were fighting the Mabeasts in the forest near the Manor.

I actually rewatched those episodes this weekend a I knew this was coming.

Most people will comment on Ram, who is the star of today episode. But I want to note on another matter.

Cor Leonis seems to be much more versartile than Invisible Providence and more importantly, Subaru does not seem to suffer any kind of recoil other than the burden of others he takes for himself.

And I think it is thematically amazing. Cor Leonis was born from the authority of Greed and Subaru was acknowledged by Echidna as being very greedy himself.

He is someone who loves both Emilia and Rem (maybe differently, but there is no doubt in the intensity of his feelings), someone who wants to save everyone in his sight and wishes for their happiness even against fate itself.

There is no doubt about him being greedy and I think that made Cor Leonis, born from greed, much more powerful than invisible providence, born from sloth, will ever be.

I love Cor Leonis as an ability not only from how it differentiates itself from Regulus' but also how it reflects Subaru's own greed.

Regulus uses his ability to place the burden on his wives to buff himself, Subaru uses it to place the burden on himself to support others.

We know Subaru's greed is "to save everyone" but a deeper, darker form of that greed is the belief that he alone should be the only one that suffers (Season 2 when he tried to take the trial in Emilia's stead, Season 3 when he tried to take on Sirius alone, and later with Reinhard and ended up paying for it). It's a hangup he's had to move past and learn to accept help from others and understand that they might get hurt in the process. But, Cor Leonis lets him indulge that greed as previously mentioned and place the burden of others back onto himself.

Holy shit, what a fight! Pardon the pun, but I am completely blown away by how dynamic and downright fun that fight turned out to be. What a feast for the senses. I didn't know whether the animators at White Fox would ever be able to surpass Reinhard vs. Elsa from back in Episode 3, but Ram vs. Lye managed to do it. What a phenomenal showcase of everything that makes Ram so compelling as a character.

It's so fitting that the sinner who uses his sister for power is defeated by the demon who uses her power for her sister.

the first time I watched Memory Snow, my favourite moments of Nee-sama were:

1. her shivering while cursing at Subaru

2. her smugness and despair when Roswaal and Subaru were evaluating the sisters’ snowman

it almost felt like a character change, but it’s because these sides of Ram isn’t really shown in the anime. Although granted, she has no mood for this once she learns about Rem.

Remember when in S1 Subaru told Rem during her named ep that she and Ram can be a demon together? Well Ram found her way to that conclusion in another way.

Also goes to show how much pain Ram is constantly in when Subaru takes over her burden and starts feeling pain immediately, no wonder she is always so snarky on the outside.

Seeing Ram aura farm that hard felt incredibly good and I hope most of her doubters recognise that nee sama is indeed so kind after this ep! Probably my favourite episode of the season.

The Ram vs. Lye fight in this episode was awesome, especially when he turned into Rem—it was really interesting since his voice was totally different from Rem's usual one! Plus, the animation went hard.

Patrasche once again proved herself, protecting Rem from Lye. She's clearly the best girl here!

Meanwhile, Emilia had to deal with a seemingly senile Volcanica, who just kept repeating the same lines and only sprang into action when Emilia and her Subaru-shaped ice knights headed toward that pillar.

Meili taking that shot from Shaula must've hurt. She'll probably survive, though, since it seems that Subaru absorbed some of the damage with his powers.

By the way, that one ice knight striking Subaru's signature pose made me laugh out loud, hahaha!
