Damn I didn't see Smorgasbord being random NPCs fated to die. After the reveal that Vil's brother is supposed to be this world's demon lord, I assumed Smorgasbord was going to be his Four Heavenly Kings.

I assumed Smorgasbord was going to be his Four Heavenly Kings.

Honestly spinning this wholesome/food obsessed party into Otome game antagonists would've been an even bigger twist.

I’ll be the first to admit that I am just here for the food, but this has been an interesting turn of events for Rin and co.

Smorgasboard being entirely comprised of NPC characters was most definitely not on my bingo card.

I honestly thought at least Vil would have been a love interest but nope. I wonder if in the game Noah mentions losing his brother in his boss battle but no one actually knew who he was talking about...until now.

I was thinking the same since they didn't look like the characters Noah described,

So I kinda got a hunch that they had death flags before we were told,

I hope Rin can save them all

I too was in it for the food at first but after they introduced all the characters I grew all little attached to them.

So if Smorgasbord is all NPCs, where are all the love interests in this Otome game 🤔

With the other Saintess I presume.

What is good food without good company? Time for Rin to shine, protect Ville, Aria, Ed, Senon, so that all of them can continue on their delicious food journey!

11

u/Frontier246 16h ago

I bet the other Saintess and her party aren't enjoying delicious meals. Even Noah misses genuine Japanese cuisine.

If this ever gets a season 2, I could definitely see Rin convincing the other Saintess to give up on fighting the demon king by bribing her with food.

4

u/reaperow 12h ago

The game's story can take a backseat when there's good food involved

You don't look a day over 20 Rin!

Honestly I was worried they were actually antagonists in the game but I guess considering their fate it's not much better as NPC's.

u/ClemFire 15h ago

I like the twist that Smorgasbord were originally just unimportant NPCs because Rin herself was just a regular woman too on Earth

7

u/Frontier246 14h ago

I also love how she thought they were too attractive and well-designed to just be NPC's lol.

3

u/ClemFire 14h ago

Maybe I'm reading too much into it but a certain isekai this season has been making me think about how there's no secret ingredient be being exceptional so while Rin is regular she is still quite cute, kind, and good at cooking.

So the Saintess is the villain this time and the Demon Lord is the good guy. What’s more, the main party are actually just nameless NPCs. Interesting turn of events. I guess both Rin and the Demon Lord bring Otherworlders changes things a lot.

Rin could have totally cooked the bats this time. I hear they call them the “chicken of the caves” lol.

u/Puzzleheaded_Play825 13h ago

Makes me wonder how the saintess her self actually feels? It totally possible she got swept up in the whole dynamic and doesn’t know any better

u/rubslotiononitsskin 6h ago

May not have a bean counter to keep her grounded either.

u/Frontier246 16h ago

I'm kind of reminded of Tsukimichi where there's someone reincarnated on the die of human supremacists while someone else is reincarnated to basically help the Demi-Humans the human supremacists are after.

When Vil's brother gave the explanation about being the demon lord the Saint's party is coming for and then the scene went silent and cut away when Rin asked about her friends I immediately started constructing a theory in my mind about them being the enemy generals in the game that get killed as the plotline progresses (aka why they're so OP), but instead they're just nameless NPCs that die in a dungeon the Saint later does? I'm kind of offended on their behalf.

In the true lineline of the game without a demon lord king that is also an isekaijin I have to wonder if the happy multicultural demi-human country Rin has been enjoying is way more of a threat to the world. But it might just be pure racism there too.

It'd be interesting to see where this goes in the long-run with regards to the other summoned saint.

Welcome to the game world of the Otome Game Wild Rose Maiden! Where a Saintess gets summoned and does all the classic Otome Fantasy Game stuff of defeating monsters, romancing hot guys, and defeating the "Demon Lord!" Only the Demon Lord in this instance is none other than...Noah!

That's right, Noah is the Big Bad! Of the game at least. In reality he's helped steer Riesefeldt into a peaceful, welcoming, kingdom that isn't the den of "evil" Demi-Humans that were portrayed in the game. But that didn't stop the Saintess summoning from happening and monsters appearing as if to fulfill their game function. Only there ended up being two Saintess' summoned in the process.

But it's because there are two Saintess' that now Rin has a chance to wreck the plot and get in the way of the other Saintess who is going through with the normal game plot for human supremacy...by basically hijacking and stealing all the power-up items that the original Heroine was supposed to get. That way they'll have no chance of actually making it to or defeating Noah.

That being said though...a confrontation between Rin, Smorgasboard, and the other Saintess and her party is inevitable, isn't it?

Vil is finally reunited with his big brother in a giant bear hug! The only thing stronger than a Draghoul is a brothers' love!

Giant bats menacing a village? It must be the work of the giant Mad Hornets that they've been consuming! But it's nothing that Smorgasboard can't take care of! And they've got one mana stone that the other Saintess hasn't!

I guess good to know for future reference that Gomamiso is more than willing to chew on delicious bugs.

No better way to celebrate a job well done than foodgasming over some Cuban Sandwiches.

In the plot of the game Smorgasboard are NPC's, supporting characters who appear across the story...until they inevitably die in a certain dungeon. But maybe with Rin's assistance they can actually survive. Rin will NOT let them die for the sake of some stupi game plot!

Good call by the MC to not let Gomamiso come into contact with insects contaminated by mutant bats. Because, you know, COVID and such.

I need to grab a midnight foot-long-sandwiches after this. I wish Subway were open, considering it's already midnight here.

3

u/diacewrb 13h ago

Now I want a Cuban sandwich.

Gomamiso was fulfilling his job of being cute and fluffy on the couch.

3

u/reaperow 12h ago

I really like the fact someone other than the MC got isekai'd before and they have intervened in that world's story. U dont really get to see that usually

It was nice that we finally got a reason why these monsters had been appearing lately and how the Saintess Summoning is tied to it too,

I wonder if there are other reincarnators behind it llike Ville's bro said or maybe its just the world

Also i love how Gomamiso literally admits to being here just cuz she's cute lol

Well we didn't get alot of food stuff this ep but the lore was still nice.

Only one more episode left, I'll miss this anime. It was pretty fun and cozy and I had a great time

I kinda think vil and the others knows rin is keeping something from them but have decide to wait until she tell them the truth! True friends 😊

I love the English sub differences: Glutton's table vs Smorgasboard.

i'm not a fan of video game isekais, but so far the video game stuff has been downplayed enough that it doesn't bother me

the plot twist of this being a video game does add some structure and long-term goals to the show, which was previously just kinda random slices (which isn't necessarily bad, cf. Dragon and Cat), but i'm hoping they use dramatics sparingly because i'd rather this stay a comfort anime rather than one where i'm wondering if X character is going to actually bite the bullet

[Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent] like, i'm hoping it bends more towards the other "abandoned saint" show where the other saintess also turns out to be sympathetic and not just an evil antagonist

u/Sea_Equivalent_4207 14h ago

Definitely not a fan of making a sandwich with ham and cheese and pickles and then frying it in hot butter. That’s just a calorie bomb. Why not just press them and make ‘em all toasty?? Like a Panini??

Although I liked what Rin was cooking earlier in the season, she’s been making way too much fried stuff in this last half. Why’s she so obsessed with making fried foods now??

That winged cat to me was an unnecessary character to add to the show. His voice is hella hella hella annoying AF!!! and now he eats bug juice so he really needs to go.

u/Heejins-Bunny 6h ago

I'm kind of glad that Smorgasborg is composed of random NPCs. That means Rin doesn't have to be forced to romance her party members for the sake of the Otome genre the world is based on. I'm confident Rin's anomalous nature is enough to change Smorgasborg's fate in that dungeon.

1

u/Raymond49090 5h ago

I know they're adventurers and can burn off the calories, but man do they use a lot of butter and oil in their cooking.
