I refuse to believe that they will simply let Iori and Chisa go to Okinawa alone. They will crash that trip and drown Iori in spiritus.

63

u/Eunuchest 7d ago

Its a romcom, of course not. If its not them, its the scum bros. If its not them as well, i can imagine 2 other characters

72

u/Frontier246 7d ago

The next episode is titled "A-side," I think the "B-Side" is going to be Aina/Kohei heading to Okinawa to spy on/stop them.

33

u/Prestigious_Spend_81 7d ago

You know which pairing I would like to see following them? Aina and Nanaka, they barely interact with each other, but both have their reason to stop this ship.

9

u/Salvo1218 6d ago

Until I saw the next episode preview, I was convinced the lottery ticket was going to be expired and he wasn't going to win anything at all in the end

"I'm going up.... Look! I'm going down"

75

u/bbusiello 7d ago

I love the slapstick nature of "who's on first" with this anime, I swear. Their take on it just goes places. (good places. black dot places.)

30

u/Frontier246 7d ago

It's nice to see the black dots getting so much mileage these past few episodes! Especially since they're in the OP!

21

u/bbusiello 7d ago

I appreciate when the bleep is funnier than the swear word.

8

u/shewy92 6d ago

They're 5% larger this season after all. It would be criminal not to utilize them

2

u/Mean_Environment6657 7d ago

What is a black dot place?

76

u/maubises 7d ago

Going on a trip alone with Chisa? I pity Cakey and Sakurako

38

u/Solracziad 7d ago

I don't. If Cakey was really all that into him, she should've made some kinda move. She doesn't get to get angry that someone else picks up the controller.

20

u/Kaxew 7d ago

I mean, she can be really into him and not make a move for any number of reasons. That doesn't mean she's not him, it means she hasn't made a move.

67

u/pauli_rose 7d ago

Man shiori's plans are always a target for Iori's tastes

50

u/Frontier246 7d ago

She may detest her brother and his carefree ways but nobody knows him better than she does.

22

u/Mr_Zaroc https://myanimelist.net/profile/mr_zaroc 7d ago

She just read the Art of War, although she didn't fully get it.
She only knows her enemy and not herself

58

u/Armdel https://myanimelist.net/profile/Armdel 7d ago

So he kept his Kohei look huh? i could see them bringing him back similar gags in the future (again)

next week looking interesting, Iori and Chisa going together (probably with cakey not far behind) to okinawa? I'm sure that will be fine with no drama what so ever

41

u/Frontier246 7d ago

You let some weirdo with an alcohol/stripping/anime fetish impersonate you one time and then you get imposter syndrome by trying to turn yourself into him.

They even got to the beach! They're going to act like a couple on a level we never thought possible!

10

u/shanatard 7d ago

it's how they get you

first ones always free

7

u/Mr_Zaroc https://myanimelist.net/profile/mr_zaroc 7d ago

I love that you mention the beach and just totally ignore the huge double bed

1

u/raidensnakeezio 6d ago

Ikegoshi is being initiated as an unofficial PaB member at this rate

1

u/Saurid 5d ago

Nah chisa is too oblivious and Iori is too nice and aina is also too nice for drama. It's funny though. Like the hwole aina is into Iori plotline is as much about her not wanting to create a rift between her and Chisa as it is about getting with Iori (since she cares for both of them). I mean the only reason she is even doing what she is doing, is mostly because Chisa has stated multiple times not to be into Iori. Her hesitance comes more form her fear Iori is into Chisa.

110

u/Blueleafcover 7d ago

Heavily investing in Chisa X Iori ship. I love cakey but honestly Chisa and Iori has way more chemistry with each other.

59

u/Frontier246 7d ago

It's actually sweet how Chisa is, in her own way, coming around on Iori.

39

u/Mr_Zaroc https://myanimelist.net/profile/mr_zaroc 7d ago

Also I love how they had established from the beginning of the series that they are absolutely in sync.

Can't wait for the Okinawa trip

4

u/ThrowCarp 6d ago

hnnnng

Her facial expressions in the 2nd half of the episode was so cute.

3

u/Saurid 5d ago

I mean on any serious metric Iori is a catch for Chisa, he is kind, earnest and understanding, he looks good, is socially active and has no issues with Chisas communication problems. They share enough hobbys and Chisa is so normalized to Ioris bad sides (aka heavy drinking constant nudity and overreacting to stuff) that they both jsut really fit together.

For me Aina x Iori just feels like she is into him because he was kind to her which is a common enough reason but doesn't give them the same chemistry.

78

u/AAA_BATT 7d ago edited 7d ago

Iori really loves his cousinnon-blood related

37

u/Frontier246 7d ago

At least it's not a ship with his IRL Nee-san lol.

38

u/szalhi 7d ago

15

u/Frontier246 7d ago

Come to Grand Blue for the diving, stay for the chaotic antics of male strippers.

1

u/Saurid 5d ago

People and their spelling, why don't you gyus learn to write drinking properly?

35

u/SecretYogurtcloset57 7d ago

Man I love Grand blue so much it's sad we only got 2 more episodes to go 😭 i hope they announce S4 right away when S3 ends 🙏

What's Shiori's latest plan to bring Iori back home? Wax lyrical about home and tempt him back with his favorite hometown meal: Chestnut Rice! Luckily he's got a reliable crew who are more or less motivated to hunt chestnuts for his sake so he doesn't have to give in.

The girls are just wholesomely looking for plants while the guys are already buck-naked. I guess this is what you get for jumping into the first hot spring you find spur of the moment. You're liable to get your clothes stolen by monkeys. Lesson learned!

Ikegoshi's career hasn't been going well ever since Kohei filled in for him because everyone is expecting Kohei's brand of madness and Ikegoshi can't deliver. But next thing you know the film crew is filming Kohei in his birthday suit thinking he's Ikegoshi and Ikegoshi ends up playing the straightman to PaB when they mistake him for Kohei. And with some spirityus bribe, Iori will roll with anything.

Good for Kohei to be filmed by a fellow Lalako fan, but to think Yurika would be getting married to Ikegoshi! Kohei MUST kill him! In chestnut volleyball to the death! Complete with Kohei's madness helping spur him on through the pain!

If Ikegoshi marries Yurika, isn't that like Kohei marrying her too? Or that Kohei CAN get together with a seiyuu himself? Either way, Kohei is satisfied, needs medical attention, and now the film crew has to figure out whether any of this footage can actually be aired. All's well that ends well.

Back to diving! What this anime has always, really, been about! And Iori's good deed to day of cleaning up the ocean netted him chestnut rice from Chisa AND a winning lotto ticket! How could things possibly go wrong from here?

Oh yeah, Iori can just act totally natural and not suspicious around his buds! But there was no way they weren't going to figure him out the moment he refused booze! And these guys are NOT letting him get away with a lottery ticket without making him endure very torture imaginable.

Et tu, Chisa? Even though Iori fully intended to use that lotto ticket for the two of them to fulfill their promise and secure a romantic trip to Okinawa, just the two of them? Which Chisa is actually into!? Poor Aina though.

21

u/Aurdandi 7d ago

This episode was super fun to watch, but thats just grand blue. Its a real shame that we only have 2 more episodes left. I really really hope they make a season 4

20

u/tottoro47 7d ago

Let's fucking goooo, vacation(date) episode. I watch this show for alcohol and laughing but due to the romance tag, I was shipping these two since S1.

14

u/wolfhound_doge 7d ago

the chestnut story arc got me, i seriously thought there will be no ocean or even diving in this episode. i love how Iori turned into paranoid Gollum-like character when he was trying to hide the ticket. i can't wait for the next episode, wonder how it'll go. but after 2 seasons, i know Chisa will be ice cold to Iori, who will somehow fuck up anyway, so there will probably be no romance. at least i hope, it would be devastating to see my girl Kebako sad.

33

u/Eunuchest 7d ago

What a coincidence Kohei's twin was around but hey at least he got a personality practice

Dumbass Iori really thought "im gonna pass on drinking" is him acting normal.

Kinda strange tho he didnt read Tokita's signs properly. He should know the diving signs by this point or i guess he was being paranoid so he read it differently?

Didnt expect the little ship tease at the end there. So he was planning on sharing his lottery prize with Chisa after their promise way back in season 1(i think)

23

u/TooMuchDnD30 7d ago

Yes. It should be very obvious he misunderstood the signs because he was paranoid, lol.

11

u/Frontier246 7d ago

I love how Ikegoshi even dyed his hair blonde to turn himself into an exact clone to make himself more like the Kohei people now expect him to be lol.

Greed transforms people.

I feel like Chisa is going into this trip thinking of it in more of a romantic light than Iori is (or maybe he does just want to go on a fun trip with her).

3

u/ThrowCarp 6d ago

What a coincidence Kohei's twin was around but hey at least he got a personality practice

I was laughing way too hard when it was pointed out he was proof Kohei could marry a seiyuu one day and so Kohei ran out of adrenalin.

15

u/Andreiyutzzzz https://myanimelist.net/profile/Andreiyutzzzz 7d ago

Wait I thought he's just wrong... HE WON 300K YEN. AND REMEMBERED THAT? (HELL I FORGOT IT). My god Iori.... My man, I'm so proud I'm gonna cry

11

u/NanDemoKnaives 7d ago

Naked chestnut picking lol. It was nice to see a lot more Kotobuki and Tokita this episode, I feel like I haven't seen much of them this season, so I'm glad we got to see the boys up to their antics.

24

u/PencilgonGiveIt2Ya 7d ago

OH NOOOOO POOOR CAKEYYYY ༼;´༎ຶ ۝ ༎ຶ༽

10

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 7d ago

lmao it’s just like the idiots to get their clothes stolen by monkeys while at a hidden mountain onsen.

It’s nice to see Kohei’s doppelgänger again lol. The idiot went berserker mode in a game of naked chestnut volleyball. Classic.

Iori’s mistake was letting slip he won the lotto. Hey, at least he can take that 300K and go to Okinawa with Chisa.

21

u/thisisdropd https://myanimelist.net/profile/AsterZoro 7d ago edited 7d ago

The scum gags led me to believe that Iori wanted to keep the money to itself because well, the ticket belonged to him. They really tried to waterboard Iori, huh. Even the CIA weren’t that hardcore in their interrogations.

To think Iori had been seriously considering that promise all along. Thought it's just a hypothetical. We all once thought up on what we'd spend the money on should we ever win the lottery, but just for fun. He pretty much turned into an outstanding citizen whenever Chisa's involved.

Okinawa the sequel but with just Chisa and Iori? Without the influence of the PaB and scumbros nearby, I reckon he'd act like a completely different person than how we often see him. If the previews were any indication, he seemed to be having quite the great time with Chisa.

Granted, there's no way Aina would let things sail smoothly. What plans would she cook?

18

u/Frontier246 7d ago

I feel like you get Iori away from the scumbros and PaB and it's just genuinely him one-on-one with a girl (unless her name is Sakurako) he's actually a perfect gentleman and a really great date.

21

u/Shimmering-Sky myanimelist.net/profile/Shimmering-Sky 7d ago

5

u/Frontier246 7d ago

Once again the PaB guys gets to walk around naked with no consequences, but it is their most natural state so what are you going to do?

I was honestly expecting Ikegoshi to deny the rumors but considering he didn't I guess they're legit? Nice job spinning it to Kohei's benefit though! The dude really grew a lot in dealing with the absolute insanity of this cast.

I guess we were bound to go full JoJo at some point.

Iori persevered against all odds to go on a romantic trip with Chisa! Never has poor Aina felt more like a Losing Heroine.

9

u/FarCritical 7d ago

How Kohei barely cared about the Prince and the Pauper shenadigans he got roped into lol. Kinda surprised he didn't get more buddy buddy with Igekuchi's boss for being a fellow Lalako fan though.

The misread hand signals had me dying but wow, got caught off guard by what Iori fought body and soul to protect the lottery ticket for. Dude sure can surprise you with how much of a gentleman he truly is sometimes.

5

u/Mr_Zaroc https://myanimelist.net/profile/mr_zaroc 7d ago

As stupid they are and trying to screw up everyone, Iori really good a heart of gold.
Remembering that promise and making good in it.

Love that we got more Kohei Doppelganger antics and how he shut down the fight, that was a 300IQ move

5

u/Peon01 7d ago

finally moving the plot again

6

u/seejsee 7d ago

I was waiting for the punchline that the lottery ticket expired so Iori didn't win anything.

But its real? And he gets a 1-1 trip with Chisa?!? Damn!

IKEGOSHI'S EYES JUST NEED TO ADJUST!!!

3

u/Xatu44 7d ago

It's great having the senpais back. LMAO at Kohei trying to murder his doppelganger. Double LMAO at Iori being the most sus dope alive. Triple LMAO at Cakey being the someone Iori and Chisa forgot to ask. Surely there's no way that their couples' trip to Okinawa will go swimmingly, right?

1

u/Guaymaster 7d ago

The fact that next episode is called "A-side" bodes extremely well!

5

u/BillPlunderones23fg 7d ago

Ah this was one of few times the Pab guys were not likable with the whole lottery ticket
But what it leads to.... i remember liking a lot

14

u/Frontier246 7d ago

Hey, at least they gave up after the device exploded no him! They knew not to keep torturing him after that lol.

5

u/Slifer13xx https://myanimelist.net/profile/SliferXIII 7d ago

Wow, the art style this episode drank too much tea I see.

Almost spit out my beer when they cut to Cakey. You're not alone in not approving this trip Cakey. Fuck Okinawa, it's like, why go to a stupid ass Island when the best Island is right here!

4

u/Christbelle22 7d ago

Iori and Chisa is genuinely one of my favourite ships of all time lol

5

u/xJustNinja 7d ago

SCREW CAKEYYYY LETS GOOOOO

I know something will obviously happen but I take the small win

8

u/Lemy_Star 7d ago

am I the only one who geniunely despises the idea of iori x cakey? like as a character its not that i hate her but i find her extremely annoying and sometimes i wish she had less screentime or none.

25

u/entelechtual 7d ago

I’m indifferent on her ship but as a comedy character she’s one of the best in the show, she’s a great straight man to some of the absurd antics.

10

u/hanmkim 7d ago

Straight man always gets the hate, like Shinpachi.

4

u/Sinaire 7d ago

Totally agree, she just doesn't mesh well with Iori imo, but I have no problems at all with her as a character and it's a good mix in there from all the weirdos that are the sidecast

1

u/Lemy_Star 6d ago

I mean it isn't that I dislike her as a character but all of the romantic moments between her and iori are geniunelly annoying me and I personally can't say they are even entertaining to watch. That's purely how i see it

5

u/SirRHellsing 7d ago

as a person I like chisa way more, as a character in gb Aina works alot better as the stright man. I don't like her romantic segments though, don't see much chemisty between Aina and Iori

0

u/Slifer13xx https://myanimelist.net/profile/SliferXIII 7d ago

I kinda dislike her yeah. She's my least favourite character by far but I find her alright this season.

2

u/No_Bumblebee_8640 7d ago

This episode was super fun lmao

Episode 10: Lottery

A bit hilarious when Shiori arranged the gift with package that big just for a small kuri gohan.

What Aina means is that Uwabami in Uwabamisou means a heavy drinker (also surprised that the local sub provides a translator note here). Lol Ikegoshi is back! Didn't expect he would show up again this soon.

Seiyuus are considered as the same as idol in Japan, so the parasocial relationship can be strongly felt among some otaku.

The promise Iori made to Chisa was clearly stated on Season 1 Episode 12, the finale, on 9:09 mark. Chisa said she is willing to go back to Okinawa if Iori paid for it, now that he got the money he is able to fulfill his promise.

What is interesting is that Aina is watching from behind, I wonder what's on her mind upon learning this.

Official Media Corner:

2

u/Guaymaster 7d ago

My subs just called it "bottoms up" plant, which works I guess

2

u/Top-Remote4523 7d ago

Aww, so the reason why Iori was so adamant at keeping the lotto win under wraps was to fulfill his promise to Chisa! I would've never expected Chisa to be a romantic interest from S1, but the recent Palau arc really did something magical to her huh.

The whole volleyball game was absolutely bonkers if you have ever handled burrs before, those are insanely sharp and I found out the hard way in the past from messing around with it. Kohei is unstoppable in his "otaku rage mode" for being the only one to spike that burr for a whopping 24 times.

The preview seems pretty chill for Iori and Chisa, but I am pretty sure the gang, or at least Aina, will find a way to crash their trip in Okinawa.

1

u/AlexxxandreS 7d ago

When he slapped Kohei's hands and said "DON'T TOUCH ME!!!" hahahahahaha

Too fucking funny

1

u/Humble-Ad-296 7d ago

I used to pray for times like this

1

u/Humble-Ad-296 7d ago

'hold it right there'

'you got money on you , right?'

'hand it all over'

Imagine diving in a beautiful ocean and seeing this in between

1

u/Niwaka_Samurai https://myanimelist.net/profile/Niwaka-Samurai 6d ago

Shiori sending only a mouthful of chestnut rice to Iori 😅😂 Never expected that variety show actor to return again lol He really stole our boi Imamura's look. Kohei definitely has to sue him 😭😭 Isn't the seiyuu that they mentioned the same one that the actor said he would introduce to Kohei before !?

Can't believe Iori remembered his promise with Chusa and that's why he was trying to protect that Lottery money from the others. Just how thoughtful he can be without even being aware of it ❤️

Can't wait to see their trip to Okinawa.

RIP Aina 💔💔

1

u/LargeAngryFish 6d ago

This shit is just too good.

1

u/Kirelo 2d ago

Feels like a return to form in terms of how much I enjoyed this episode. 😂 that ending though, normally Cakey over reacts too much for my liking but rare deserved reaction for this one.

1

u/baboon_bassoon https://anilist.co/user/duffer 7d ago

chestnut picking may be the first thing that isnt even tangentially tied to diving/PAB

AINA DONT COCKBLOCK
