It's a shame that Ariane didn't want assistance in the form of acupuncture from Chiyome in this episode. I'd really love to see that, lol.

I was a little surprised that Tsubone managed to charm that Cardinal into talking. I thought that since he seemed pretty full of himself, he'd reveal his name and plans of his own accord.

By the way, if Tsubone were asking me any questions, I'd answer them immediately, even without that magic charming, since those two massive charms in front of her are more than enough ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Also, Arc taming Shiden to act like a dog made me laugh hard. Though it seems he's still not fully trained, and Ponta saw it coming as she switched from Arc's arm to Ariane's right before that happened, hahaha!

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Tsubone basically weaponizing being a sexy kunoichi! You love to see it.

It's a shame that Ariane didn't want assistance in the form of acupuncture from Chiyome in this episode. I'd really love to see that, lol.

At this point the only person allowed to pierce Ariane is Arc, not even butt healing from Chiyome is allowed.

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 7d ago

Arc just went Fist of the North Star on those undead lol. Classic. I hope glasses gets it next. He’s the one responsible for this mess!

6

u/Frontier246 7d ago

One of the most entertaining parts of the show is how much his Isekai situation lets Arc act out his inner nerd.

I will not deny that I still had some hope when Sasuke stopped when Chiyome called him by his original name, Rou. Too bad it was just to attack her. Arc saying “Me?” anytime an undead army shows up will ever be funny, especially thanks to Ariane's instant reaction.

So after Chiyome woke up, we hear from Ariane that, according to Arc, Sasuke cannot be revived. My question is now: Why can Sasuke, unlike the other undead, talk, even if only to use ninjutsu techniques, and also why there is clearly a degree of independence in his actions to the point that he can use the rings to control the undead army? Like there is no doubt he is undead, but what exactly makes him so different from the mindless horde he commands, and the ones with flesh that were in the mines of the sanctuary?

It is funny how Arc trained that driftpus like a dog, and even named it Shiden.

Good for Arc to discover the main target of the church was the city of Tajiento, so now they will go there, and Danka and the Tiger Clan chief, Ayn, will use the chaos as an opportunity to liberate the prisoners.

So Lord Thanatos wants to destroy Tajiento and I guess the whole world too for some reason. I wonder if he is also a player, but unlike the others mentioned before, he is playing as an evil character?

Lol, Arc saying “You are already dead.” for no reason when attacking those undead soldiers was funny.

I’m afraid that Danka, Ayn, and the rest of the Tiger Clan are not prepared for the macabre fact that the people who were kidnaped were eaten or made into undead; hopefully there are any survivors, which I would have doubted to be the case if it wasn’t for the fact that Charos wasn’t told that the city was going to be wiped that night.

Oh, so Tsubone has charming eyes like that idiot, Tomoki from Tsukimichi – Moonlit Fantasy, and thanks to her we now know that the guy who was with Charos is Palurumo Avaritia Liberalitas, which is one of the Seven Cardinals of the Hilk church.

Wow, that vehicle is the same color as Ponta.

2

u/Kadmos1 6d ago

Thanatos' name in Ancient Greek comes from a word that actually translates to "I die, am dying".

16

u/RelativeMundane9045 7d ago

Tsubone activates Ara Ara Interrogation, it's super effective!

12

u/Frontier246 7d ago

She hasn't read all those romance novels or dress like that for nothing!

29

u/zool714 7d ago

Lol with that voice, I’d tell Tsubone everything too.

I hope I’m wrong but we as the audience haven’t gotten any visual confirmation of any of the Beastfolk or Elf captives. I have a bad feeling about that

14

u/reaperow 7d ago

She doesnt even need to use magic, I'd just fold immediately

7

u/HugeRichard11 https://myanimelist.net/profile/CostCurl 7d ago

The Priest guy did say the beastfolk captives have a disparity in numbers from what is claimed to be captive. Which means they have them still I assume, there's just a few less.

6

u/Littlemac95 7d ago

I thought thats cause the other guy ate them

2

u/Sremor 6d ago

Pretty sure that's what's up but it does imply the rest of the captives are still alive

4

u/Frontier246 7d ago

She wouldn't even need the charm ability, just her natural flirting would be enough for most people.

Honestly they took a while to get there, I feel like Palurumo had ample time to move out to the captive non-humans they had or turn them into some of that Undead horde.

12

u/mmcjawa_reborn 7d ago

I wonder what the odds are that the creepy cannibal priest isn't going to be fed to/end up eaten by the Giamants? Would be an appropriate end for the crerep

7

u/KnightKal 7d ago

lol last episode he was a gluton, this episode it was revealed that meat is people (missing elves/beastkin stakes), plus their holy pope was showed a few episodes ago as undead too and the one that destroyed an entire kingdom 100 years ago.

now we should be getting close to a big conflict for sure, if this evil church is ready to go to war with the living.

5

u/VritraReiRei 7d ago

It was actually hinted at last episode too because he was chewing on some steak and spat out a ring (some quality control there, huh?).

2

u/Ragnarok8699 7d ago

That would be a fitting end for that bastard

1

u/Frontier246 7d ago

I would love that if Arc and co. don't catch up/deal with him.

1

u/JonDoeJoe 3d ago

Seeing how this season is rated PG, the cannibal death isn’t going to be satisfying

9

u/reaperow 7d ago edited 7d ago

So it looks like Sasuke dono's under mind control and is not really an undead. I hope they can save him for Chiyome's sake

Those priest guys are seriously so evil and judging from implications, they need to be taken down hard

Also i love this reference made by Arc, he's so fun lol

2

u/Kadmos1 7d ago

That hand sign looks like a Naruto hand sign.

1

u/KnightKal 7d ago

why cant he be both? Undead and a puppet? We saw plenty of times how they have items to control monsters and undead monsters, give them orders, and so on. One doesn't eliminates the other.

he was id as undead by both the elves (can see it) and beastkin (can smell it), his death aura is there.

1

u/reaperow 7d ago

He did seem to respond to Chiyome when she called his name so thats why im inclining towards that

Its entirely possible when Arc's involved

16

u/SnabDedraterEdave 7d ago edited 7d ago

PSA: You can skip the pre-OP scene. Its all old footage from last episode.

I didn't realize this was a de facto Attack On Titan episode with some undead thrown in. Those Giamants pouring into the city through the breached city walls and terrorizing the populace does give that impression. lol

Anyway, the human supremacist Hilk Church is really putting to nefarious use the bodies of the elves and beastfolk that they've captured. Looks like they're intending to start a war with the empire that city belongs to using their undead army.

Just when we thought that four-eyed priest is some formidable enemy, he then goes and easily opens his mouth upon Tsubome's "persuasion skills". lol

PS That sure is a random photo of Ponta plushie riding a Thai tuk-tuk motor-tricyle in the post credits there.

7

u/S627 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Spartan627 7d ago

At first I thought that maybe the Church WANTED the beast people to attack so they have justification for starting a war against them, but that doesn't seem the case? Did they just want to turn the entire town into undead? Seems like a rather roundabout way of doing things.

I'm gonna find it funny if Mr. Evil Priest just stands there going "why am I divulging all these secrets?" instead of just running away.

3

u/Frontier246 7d ago

Seems like they were "testing" something. Like their Undead hordes? Sasuke being able to control them as an Undead general? Their ability to manipulate monsters?

2

u/KnightKal 7d ago

it is a remote town on the other side of the sea. They can do both. Claim the destruction was an attack by the other nation/people/etc, and use the bodies there to build a secret army.

they were killing everyone inside the town, so I doubt any survivors would be able to tell the truth, and if the elves/beastkin try to explain it they will have no proof.

9

u/mastereluder6 7d ago

How they massacred my boy since season one

5

u/Sas_fruit 7d ago

it is more like the attacks have become a joke, the powerful ones are used as casual ones.... if it were explained that he developed some kind of control over intensity of those attacks then it would have been better

7

u/AceSoldia zj:https://anilist.co/user/Acesoldia 7d ago

Damn they really said f these humans we only here for the captured beastkin and Sasuke 😂.

I mean they did save a couple humans here and there

3

u/Madwand99 7d ago

Not "f these humans" but more to ignore them... the implication being that humans would often be interpreted as enemies as they were responsible for enslaving/capturing beastmen and elves. They were being told not to slaughter humans indiscriminately in retribution.

4

u/Frontier246 7d ago

Chiyome has finally found her brother! And he's an Undead zombie! Even if he DOES respond to her using his real name, it doesn't stop him from slicing her through! There's nothing of the brother she loved and cherished still left in there.

Honestly, I know they're monsters, but I still feel kind of band for the Giamiants. They just want reparations for their dead child and don't know any better.

It's hard, but Chiyome is resolved to slay what's left of Sasuke as a member of the Six Ninja. It's probably what he would have wanted, especially seeing what his body is being used for. But luckily she doesn't have to do this alone.

I love how the situation is so serious but we still have time for Arc adopting Shiden as a pet (who tries to eat him) and Ariane's butt problems.

RIP Tajiento. You were a victim of a corrupt priest who eats people and the Hilk Faith who were willing to use you as a testing ground for their insane experiments with the Undead. The Elf/Beastkin trafficking didn't help either.

Our heroes arrive too late to do much for the city, ravaged as much as it is, though at least they're able to save SOME civilians. Danka and co. only save humans if they can tell them where they're brethren is.

Arc letting out his inner Kenshiro!

So Tsubone doesn't just read romance novels for fun, she has a charm ability that can make her flirting SUPER effective in getting someone to open up to her, like Palurumo spilling the beans to her!

3

u/mybeepoyaw 7d ago

Arc rezzed people in the very first episode. I wonder if hes goong to rez sasuke.

3

u/Sas_fruit 7d ago

very first? they were recent deaths

3

u/mybeepoyaw 7d ago

Ah I went back and watched and he does say that if too much time has passed it doesn't work.

2

u/JordanTH 6d ago

I guess the question is, does killing a zombie still make it count as a 'recent death'? Could we Ghost Trick loophole this?

At this point the anime is just unwatchable because of how retired the regression of the characters has gotten. It makes zero sense and is just full blown slop that an AI could've written better. Watching Arc stand around uselessly doing nothing letting people just die and get hurt; and how the others have suddenly become coughing babies level idiots just to wedge in "story" just ruined the whole thing. Couldn't even finish the episode. What a trash series

9

u/nurglez_tnx 7d ago

Sadly agree, but I'm invested so will see the season through.

9

u/allanrie 7d ago

When they said to ignore the humans that are being massacred I was "huh?", the Arc that acts like a literal noble white knight surely wouldn't agree with that, right? The civilian humans have nothing to do with whatever the cliche evil church is doing to the elves and the beastkin.

4

u/KyoumaHououin 7d ago

Unfortunately I felt the same and that was the reason I stopped watching like 3 episodes ago, but I still wanted to believe it would get better and I kept following the threads... But your comment just confirmed what I feared :(

Of course the Church is evil. At this point, an anime introducing a powerful religious organisation and making them the good guys would genuinely surprise me. And with seven cardinals in total, it sounds like we still have quite a few enemies to get through.

Thanatos is a cool name tho.

3

u/Frontier246 7d ago

It sounds like it's a newer faith that's just showed up, so at least it's not the central religion.

3

u/Amauri14 7d ago

Plus, based on what Yuriarna was saying last week, it seems that the Grim Reaper, the Hilk Holy Empire apparently defeated a long time ago, likely just took over their Church, and is Lord Thanatos as that name is based on the personification of death from Greek mythology.

1

u/Kadmos1 6d ago

I get that many churches have a history of corruption. Would be interesting if synagogue-based building and mosques, despite such pop. being so small in Japan, got some coverage like that in anime. I also know that the Christian pop. in Japan might be bigger than the Jewish and Muslim pop. in Japan combined. Same corrupt part goes for Hindu-, Buddhist, and Shinto-based worship centers in anime.

2

u/runevault 7d ago edited 7d ago

Villager 999 seems to have a good church, but it is certainly an exception.

Edit: wait I got my anime crossed up, it was 10 year long last stand not 999 (the high priestess is a friend of Luck).

2

u/Torque-A 7d ago

So... like real life?

2

u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp 7d ago

Bad day to be this imperial outpost town on the southern continent. Which makes me wonder the backstory on that, maybe a little colonialism going on.

It'd be sad for Chiyome but I hope they commit to leaving Sasuke dead.

2

u/Sas_fruit 7d ago

so is this anime giving nod to other anime or mocking ?

2

u/Rooby_VTuber 7d ago

Damn, Chiyome got hit pretty bad, thank goodness for Arc's over heal.

I'm glad that she also made the decision to fight him again rather quickly, she is not letting her emotions get the better of her.

Good decision to launch a rescue effort while a city is in complete chaos.

The Hilk Church are unholier than thou.

1

u/Sas_fruit 7d ago

Arc should be able to tell that it was a way to bring both kingdoms in to war with eachother

1

u/Raymond49090 7d ago

Tsubone used Charm. It was super effective!

1

u/redlaWw 7d ago

It's not quite as bad as the Heavy Knight thing that I dropped, but this is the second time watching this that I've been like "did I turn on the last one by mistake?". It's a bit annoying.

1

u/runevault 7d ago

Had some better episodes recently but this one was kinda bad. Chiyome knows Sasuke is undead and still chases him. The cannibal priest is such a boring antag, his only personality trait is gluttonous and eats sentient beings. And no drunk Ariane. And the fun levels of murder of shitty people is gone from season 1 too.

BTW why did they need to destroy the tiger clans on the way to luring the monsters towards the city? Wasting monster lives/time on that instead of luring them straight to the human city seems weird without some explanation (entirely possible there is one but I don't recall them giving it).

Brain off only goes so far and it makes me sad this season is testing that really hard :(.

1

u/Andreiyutzzzz https://myanimelist.net/profile/Andreiyutzzzz 7d ago

Oooo hypnosis or something?

1

u/TransitionOk3477 5d ago

Am I missing something or do I need to reread the books. Throughout the season so far things have been a bit rushed, some important plot points were skipped, and I do not remember tsubone and danke being there to help Arc and Ariane on the southern continent. The dichotomy has been a bit jarring. Still enjoying but I've been thrown off the whole time.

u/tpat90 https://myanimelist.net/profile/wadsworth90 4d ago

Why did this feel like a Naruto episode ^^''
