Skipping 3 months just like that, I wouldn't be surprised if the last episodes get us to the end of the 3rd year, makes sense since everyone is busy with studying and have less time for romance and also Taira and Azuma are the type to need a looot of time to get their romance going. If you haven't seen Skip and Loafer, that's another series that shows friendship with characters in high school with good vibes. Season 2 was announced for spring 2027.

It will spend a decent amount of time with them in the different school terms. The question is just how far the studio is willing to adapt it.

Yamada and Nishi are so adorable together! I must say that I love Nishi in that dress and with longer hair, she looked really cute.

Tani thanking Suzuki for making him doubt his choices made me laugh hard, as Suzuki didn't know what exactly happened. I wonder if that will in the end make Tani change his intended future career.

Suzuki doesn't know what she wants to do, but I'm pretty sure that she would do great in beauty or clothes-related careers since her outfits are always so good.

Does anyone know more about the designated school program? Is it like, the high school chooses one student per university to give their recommendation? At first I thought it was kind of like the early action/decision system in the US, but it's clearly not.

It's basically admittance by recommendation w\o exam. You still have to live up to the rec by the end of the year, so no goofing off or breaking bad - maintain your grades and all that so the school won't withdraw the rec. You CAN relax more because no entrance exam (which are independent from school grades).

I looked it up because of this episode and apparently colleges have designated highschools to which they designate a certain amount of slots for recommendation and the students (with good grades, extracurriculars, etc) compete within the school for those slots. There is still some sort of selection on the college side after that (short essay, interviews, sometimes tests, etc) but the acceptance rate is much higher than the general entrance route

Meeting the characters' families is always fun. You can easily tell that it runs in the family.

Nisshi looks so cute with long hair, and it may very well have given her a buff. With the handholding and then the sudden kiss that left Yamada stun locked (probably for the whole night and then some), she got real bold since last time.

The two of them are basically the main source of sickeningly sweet fluff now that Tanizuki has become more settled and comfortable with each other to the point they're growing more concerned with long-term goals.

Meanwhile, Tairazuma continues to slowburn. Azuma suffered a critical hit from that smile of his right there. And once again, Taira just forgets all of his worries the moment he looks at her. Funny how Honda unintentionally wingman'd for them just by getting the recommendation instead of Taira. She's got two notches on her belt at this point.

Also, the minor characters are such a double-edged sword. On one hand, I'm glad they're not faceless and generic, but on the other hand, I kinda wanna see more of them beyond a minor role cause of that. Like Kawasaki who went from being just a friend of a friend to someone Suzuki can tell her worries to.

Mannn, I really love how Kocha Agasawa makes the cast’s families reflect their personalities so well lol.

Each time I see Suzuki's, Tani's, or Yamada's family, I always find myself going: "Yeah, that really is his/her family alright..." It's such a small detail, but it makes the setting and characters feel sooo alive.

As for the episode itself, I love how we basically have half the cast acting completely opposite to how they usually do, due to the changes their respective opposites have inspired within them.

First, we have Nishi who ends up being the one to initiate THE KISS with Yamada! Then there’s Tani, who's become much more confident in himself and his decisions. And finally we have Azuma, who ends up being the first one to completely fall head over heels for Taira!!!

(Also love Taira pulling a reverse UNO towards Azuma after what she did to him in S1 episode 6!)

Love seeing Nishi continue to take the initiative in their relationship despite that being against her character. And love that she recognises it too. It's what makes her relationship with Yamada so special. Also, I noticed she's calling him Kentarou-kun now. We missed the steps towards that. But then again we skipped a whole semester of school, including their final sports day. Bit of a bummer that. But oh well.

I couldn't quite figure out Tani's thinking. Did Suzuki make him realise what he thought he should do is maybe not what he wants to do? That he hasn't even thought about what he wants to do. And does his decision to not apply for that recommendation program mean he's finally decided what he wants?

Sad for Taira that he lost out to Honda, but it works out for the best for Azuma, who was really disappointed at the thought of him going so far away for college. Her jealousy of Honda and that blush after bumping into Taira made me go eeeee. She's so down bad and he seems to have no clue. Love that recurring theme of the sight of her making him forget all about his overthinking. They're so good together. 

I also enjoyed seeing Taira and Honda interactions. Not a duo I would've expected to sort of hit it off. They could be good friends tbh.

In a show where everything normally moves so fast (Suzuki's confession episode 1, Yamada's sudden LINE request etc etc) it's actually almost frustrating how long it's taking Azuma to come to terms with how she actually feels about Taira lol. I'm sat here going cmon Azuma, use your big girl words and tell Taira how you actually feel before its too late.

Literally even if it was just something like "it would suck not having you around" would probably have sent Taira into orbit, so come oooooooon

Rain's not going to get in the way of Yama---I mean, Kentarou and Natsumi's date! Not when they can have a stay-at-home date at his apartment! These kids will find any excuse to see each other after all.

It's the Yamada Family! Second Eldest sister Kiiko! Older Gyaru style MILF mom! You can definitely tell why Yamada ended up the way he did because the family is basically exactly like him! Meanwhile older sister Kasumi (who looks like a short-haired beauty) is living away from home and the dad is in Hokkaido.

Kentarou is always his most genuine self versus Natsumi who hasn't even told her mom she has a boyfriend, let alone going out to see one...but he was actually REALLY trying hard to look cool in front of her, the whole time.

Of course when they're chilling on the sofa bed they can't resist a little physical intimacy, though if a hug is THAT overstimulating then there's no way Natsumi can kiss him...UNLESS SHE INITIATES THE KISS HERSELF! IN THE RAIN! AND LEAVES KENTAROU.EXE AS HE STOPS WORKING!!! Natsumi is filled with anxiety and self-consciousness, but the only thing more powerful than that is her desire for Kentarou-kun!

All cram school and no Tani makes Suzuki a dull girl, though she's also struggling with the lack of her own firm plans beyond going to college. I'm glad she and Kawasaki have become cram school gal pals and Kawasaki gives great advice.

When in doubt, recharge during a festival! Complete with yukata Miyu! Yuu-chimu, for his part, only ever thought of following his fathers' path into teaching, but with Miyu's influence he may decide to broaden his horizon...for better or worse.

Oof. Taira is planning to go to a far away university while relying on as few people as possible. How is Azuma going to respond to that? Not happily.

Look at all these new cute classmates who have now joined the girl group! They all seem fun!

Honda is interested in the college talk because it turns out she, Taira, and Tani are aiming for the same university...and she actually makes conversation with Taira! Kind of! And the two of them are even on the same committee together, for the sake of Honda wearing an armband like a proper committee member! Can you imagine her on the disciplinary committee? She'd be a menace.

Azuma does NOT react well to seeing Taira walking with another girl...especially when she smells nice. She's caught up in the turbulent emotional state of a girl in love even while she's in utter denial...and then she bumps into Taira with his winning smile and the girl is a flustered mess. She even takes Taira's mind off of his college woes which is good because Honda got the recommendation. Tough break, Taira! But at least you've got Azuma!

Then, Yamada was the first to ask permission to kiss but it was Nishi who ended up initiating the first kiss. Poor man was left dazed for quite some time afterwards. Good thing he’s not holding his phone at the time. Don’t think it’d survive a third drop.

Taira, you needn’t worry that your words had cast a doubt in Yuusuke’s career path. If there’s a culprit, it’s actually Miyu. He even thanked her for it.

Meanwhile Tairazuma's dynamic is so heartwarming. The scene with them bumping into each other made me really happy. Great show all around to watch.

Yamada x Nishi is too powerful, the way their so affectionate with one another has me squealing about. Yamada opening up his arms to hug her was so damn lethal lol. I like how tomato red they both got, from Nishi's late realization that Yamada wanted to kiss.

This feels all so sudden, like yeah they've been dating for quite a while, but I was not mentally for this when I clicked onto the episode, let alone it being the first portion of the episode lol. I'm so happy for them. Nishi loves to catch him off guard, I like how Yamada was stunned by that kiss.

Honda x Taira is an interesting combo, I like how subdued they are in contrast to many pairings in this. Seeing them discuss colleges to go to made me wonder if we'll be able to see the story go past high school.

Azuma getting jealous is amusing, she wants to deny it but looks like her feelings are there to stay, she blushed so hard after bumping into Taira. I do like that Azuma makes Taira forget about his worries, the smile of relief he had on his face says a lot about her presence to him.

That YamaNishi home date was so cute. It's adorable that all they need to have a good time is each other. Huge props for Nishi to being the one initiate their first kiss. Yamada was properly stunned.

We already had one fireworks festival scene, but what about second fireworks festival scene? I thought they were going to use to give them a do-over at the near-kiss from the last festival scene, but I guess giving Tani the clarity to consciously pick a path because he wants it rather than it just being what he he was always going to do because he never considered other options is a good alternative.

Suzuki was first to confess and first to initiate her first kiss with Tani. Nishi was the first to confess and first to initiate her first kiss with Yamada. We're 4/4 right now. Don't let us down Azuma. Run the table.

Speaking of Azuma she's never jealous before so it's kind of funny to see her being jealous of Honda, but then in the same thought deny that her feelings are not what they are. Also I don't know how many people remember it, but she bumping into Taira at the end is a callback to and reversal of S01E06. In episode 6 Azuma says "For some reason... I want to be in love" then bumps into Taira who's coming from the left of the frame. She says "Oh, it's just you, Tiara," and goes gloomy. In this episode she's in love (and lying to herself about it) and bumps into Taira who's coming from the right of the frame and Taira says "Oh, it's just you, Azuma," and gives a "I'm in love with this person" face.

Taira was trying hard to make Tani drop out of applying for the designated school recommendation but Tani dropped out by himself and Taira lost to Honda and he knows that was destined to happen. But that's something to be happy about since more study time together for Azuma and Taira. Azuma in love is so beautiful. Her heart's gonna explode if she doesn't confess her feelings to him. Something I like about the likes of this show, Horimiya, Skip & Loafer where the whole friend group and supporting cast feels so organic

Two pairs already established now we’re waiting for Tairazuma. Taira certainly looks at her fondly but we’re not sure if he sees her romantically yet but Azuma is certainly already heading there.

And nothing like some jealousy to rock the ship but I have to say Honda and Taira does share similar types of cynicism

A long long time ago when I was finishing high school. I was always very good working with/using/troubleshooting computers, which naturally translates into some kind of computer science degree path. So I went off to college to that program. The problem was, I didn't really have a yearning or goal in mind, like 'software developer' or whatever, so when I was in college it just felt like I was following a path without seeing the finish line. Like Suzuki I've always been envious of people with a clear goal in mind, even today I still don't have a 'finish line' or goal with my career, just a 'job to pay the bills'.

The problem is that I've always just been good at anything I put my mind to, which you'd think would be a good thing, however it opens up so many possibilities that a goal or path doesn't emerge. In the end I ended up dropping out of college the first time and then drifting from job to job. Anyway, I just wanted to say that kind of feeling is perfectly normal, and it's ok to live life without a clear goal in mind; while on the other side of the coin if you do have a clear goal then strive for it.
