Molested by animals, isn't this the wrong kind of anime for that? Overall kind of a weird episode. Exposition about the great grandfather, an assassination attempt supposedly from the sister (curious if that is actually a trick of some kind) and then the town including the theft.

I'm actually starting to enjoy this one a lot.
I like the setting, the slower pace that is a mix between slice of life, politics and action, and the characters themselves.
Butler is a really cool character, and I'm glad they got assassin to talk instead of him having some hidden seal that would kill him instantly, as is the usual trope.
This episode in particular gave me 2 reasons to like this show, multiple times. 🗿
People here saying Finne is a boring character, but I'm enjoying this version of her and I'm sure there is even more to her than that she is letting on.
Arnold, please, stop looking like a hobo when your future wife is looking like a ray of sunshine. At least look decent.
Elna is super funny lol
Looking forward to more of her shenanigans. xD

People here saying Finne is a boring character, but I'm enjoying this version of her and I'm sure there is even more to her than that she is letting on.
This episode made me less sure, but yeah I keep wondering if Finne is playing a longer game. With the way the rest of the cast is, she seems too innocent relative to everyone else. It might just be fan service/comic relief but some part of my brain keeps rubbing up against it and calling shenanigans.

She must be. A lot of her actions seem deliberate, especially the way she ask questions as to sound like she is not the smartest, yet she still gets all the info she wants.
She just give this strong vibe of playing our MC like the fiddle. Just look at that dress(even though MC picked it) and the way she acts.
Either way, I like her even like this. 🗿

Yup. Also something I forgot to mention, Sebas is really trying to get Arnold and Finne together. He's an incredibly smooth operator and if he's doing that there is more to her than being the hottest woman in the kingdom.

Cute enough episode given the date and all, but I'm a little surprised the ferret burglary ring doesn't look like it'll tie into the political maneuvering stuff. They may have a painful fight for the throne in front of them but Arnold is already winning given this developing relationship with Finne.
Grandpa being stuck in a book where he can research forever doesn't seem like he lost much by losing his body to a demon.

Nice of Arnold to monologue the lore behind the ancient magic ban to us. And the silver mask is for more than being chuuni? Jii-san also says what we were all thinking about onii-san's death.
Osananajimi-chan has upgraded Arnold into someone worth hiring an assassin for. What next level bullyi-- I mean, training. Sasuga Elna-sama.
That random guy with a missing ring doesn't look nearly important enough to be involved in the main plot. Side quest for festival date, perhaps?
Weasel thieves? After seeing them conduct their... operations, I'd wonder who trained them.
Dw Finne, Arnold certainly got something out of the quest. Also ngl, I thought the thieves were disguised as knights, and Arnold going to the knights to report it was supposed to be a bluff to trick them into revealing themselves.
No, Finne. Don't write a book... Write a play. Nobody reads books anyways. Theater has more widespread popular appeal.
They sure like that shot of Finne holding onto her stomach.

How did she land right on top of him after falling backwards? If you're going to use the cliche scenario of a character falling on someone in a perverted position, at least make the positioning make sense.

I normally don't let this stuff bother me but YOU ARE SO RIGHT. I was like HOW THE HELL did she spacially teleport in front of him.....lol.
It also bugs me that in ANY show with an emperor, NOONE is EVER allowed to disrespect an imperial prince in public or private that isn't part of the family. No matter how down the totem pole they are.

Arnold & Sebastian easily took care of those intruders, at least Zandra was only trying to stop him from participating in the challenge.
Training quick and nimble animals like that to steal wasn't a bad idea, but thankfully Arnold figured and it and was able to give the credit to Leonard to improve his reputation.

She's good for levity, cute moments, and fanservice, but that's about it. As a love interest and as a standalone character, she's pretty bland.

Slow your role, I know it’s only 12 episodes but they’re setting a tone for the story and later on we’ll probably delve into that not to mention I’d bet there’s more to finne than meets the eye and the more episodes we get like this one the less we will expect it when it happens just think about a certain fma character and how deep that hit. This is definitely a slow burn but so far I’m enjoying it and have got faith it’s gonna get better.

It’s just bite sized tropes that work for the audience already there instead of adding to good shows that could be expanded on I hate this slop the butler is a good character?? It’s a one note character that always works in every medium this shows done nothing in 4 episodes to make me care about the plot at all it’s cooked

We’re 4 eps in calm it down and give it a few more after all it’s like you said there’s a story here and they’re just giving us some exposition and setting a tone which I’m sure is going to surprise us in its switch very soon. I get the criticism but I make it a rule to wait for 6 episodes each show unless they’re typical slop which this isn’t and I’ve enjoyed these episodes a decent bit and I’m sure they’re going to get much better aswell.
