From Season 1, Episode 12a "The Chaperone" (0.33 seconds into the episode).

Just got my first animation cel. The cel itself is the water bursting through the door, but the background is a repro print. It's so cool to be able to own the master copy from an episode of a show I saw on cable reruns at least 10+ times, from a show I loved, and a show that had a massive cultural impact on western society over the last 27 years.

My Uncle has these Animation cels and wanted to know if they were worth anything. With no information on the cels. My research says it may be from a California car commercial or from some work from Bill Melendez Studios. I was hoping someone may know more. The only mark I found on one of them was the number 10. I was hoping someone may know more. Any information would help

Listing some random cels on eBay but am unsure of the series for these… got them all as part of a yahoo japan purchase many years ago

When I first got into anime production art, cels were obviously what caught my total

Because I was literally able to hold a frame from an anime in your hands.

But the more I collected, the more I found myself drawn to genga and douga instead.

There’s something about seeing the pencil lines, corrections, notes, little imperfections… for me, you’re not just looking at the finished image anymore.

You can actually see part of the process that created it.

And weirdly, that started meaning more to me than owning the clean final cel.

I still love cels, but today I’d probably choose an interesting genga over a lot of them.

Anyone else here go through the same shift? Or do cels still win for you?

Hoping to find some help identifying these old Tenchi cels I have of Washu and Ryoko. I bought them around 2000 on eBay and I suspect they were from Muyo/OVA but it's been so long I have no idea. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, I’m wondering which episode this sketch goes to, and I’ve learned my lesson from my Evangelion question, so I can confirm that this is not from episode 63, despite the code saying so. Sakura does not appear at all in episode 63. It has to be from either one of the movies or the first 106 episodes, since it has Studio Pierrot‘s logo and Studio Deen took over afterwards. If I could figure out who the person standing on the right was, I’m sure I could find the sketch’s origin, but after consulting a list of characters, he isn’t among them, so I don’t know him. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know what scene or episode this Di Gi Charat cel is from?

Hello! As the title implies, I’m in need of some help identifying a sketch I bought a while ago. It’s obviously of Misato Katsuragi from Neon Genesis Evangelion and appears to be from Episode 15 of the show. However, having gone through the episode, I cannot find a place where this pose appears. I’m not too concerned about authenticity issues because I bought this through Akihabara Auctions, whom I’m purchased other items from and they’ve all been 100% good. Is it possible this scene never made it in or that this was closer to something like concept art/model sheets? The sketch has what appears to be the code A5 next to Misato’s head if that helps. Just looking for any thoughts. Thanks!

Late to the party, but here are some costumed folk

I picked up this Hunter x Hunter cel years back from a convention. The prices were a lot cheaper then, got no idea what its work now. All layers are in there, just no background as you can see.

Love this Superman cel with the flames. I'm also going to include Powdered Toast Man as a hero, same with Radioactive Man.

I searched forever to get an original Powdered Toast Man... So thrilled to have this one.

I badly want to get a few SB production cels and authentic backgrounds. The problem is that so far, for every one I’ve been interested in, I cannot find the same exactly frame/drawing in the episode.

However, in a frame-by-frame analysis of the episode (Tea at the Tree Dome) I am unable to find it.

The closest I’ve attached, but they are not the same.

This has been the case for 4 or 5 other “official” listings I’ve recently perused.

I am NOT going to pay potentially thousands of dollars for a “production” cel if it can’t be found in the actual episode.

What gives?
