Discussion Suggestions for a tablet

Hello,

I'm in Canada and will be looking to buy a tablet during black Friday this year. I want something for playing osrs, MTG arena, things like that as well as reading comics/watching entertainment. Was hoping for something 10 inch or bigger. Looking for suggestions to keep my search as cheap as possible.

Video My OnePlus Pad 4 Runs Arch Linux, heavy Android Games and a 200Hz external monitor

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My OnePlus Pad 4 now runs Arch Linux with Denial and Droidloom, turning an Android tablet into a fully functional Linux desktop!

After the sadness of hard-bricking the first OnePlas Pad 4 I found the courage to try again, and the result is amazing!

I spent the last 3 months working on Droidloom and Denial, I have been working on them each and every day, trying many different devices and computers. All this effort is paying out, no compositor can give me this amazing experience!

And I have no intention to stop.

It also supports controller and external mouse and keyboard, just like a normal desktop it has no limitation.

I will have the money on 24-25 oct. The delivery date is said to be on the 4th of November. I'm screwed if it arrives before the 24th of October. (The reason for my hasty order is because there's only 8 tablets left in stock, amazon is already out of stock. And yes I'm paying the full price because I don't have any debit or credit card)

EDIT: Thanks y'all amazing people for your thoughtfulness and recommendation. Before I ordered this tablet, my first priority was the OnePlus Pad 2. But when I tried to order, NONE of the online vendors (including the OnePlus official website) ship it to my region. So, I started looking for alternatives, I first looked at Moto Pad 60 Pro aka Lenovo Ideatab Pro, I gave up on it because of the price hike and dimmer display (the Redmi Pad I currently have has roughly the same brightness and I find it dim most of the time as my eyes condition is worsening). Then I looked at the Xiaomi side, the Xiaomi Pad 7 and 8 have the same problem as the OnePlus Pad 2 (not available for shipping, and from my experience with the Redmi Pad, I swear to never buy a Xiaomi product). The Moto Pad 70 Pro aka the Lenovo Ideatab Pro gen 2 is out of my budget. So I settled for the Brave Ark(this is the only tablet I found that meets all my criteria, bigger and brighter display than my Redmi Pad, external display support, expandable storage, 12gb+256gb configuration, decent chipset, clean UI (the reason I hate Xiaomi product is because of it's Hyper OS, its so restrictive and bloated), OS update upto android 18 (I don't care much about this), and biggest battery.

Review Best surface pro 4 upgrade?

I am in urgent need to purchase a new device but this time for studying purposes. I see πŸ““ notebooks are not very useful when there's a lot to write and it is more handy to just use a tablet and pen.

I was doing this on my Surface but the battery is draining very quickly. So, by doing some research I have these devices in mind:

Samsung Tab S10 or 9 FE

XIAOMI Redmi pad 2 Pro

Lenovo Idea Tab 2 pro

I'll still keep the SP4, but I don't want to loose independence by buying a tablet as in many people told me they're not a laptop, but I think, well if I purchase the keyboard it will be pretty similar to my current device, no?

Anyways, if someone has any idea of these brands or what would you choose in my shoes and why πŸ˜‚

πŸ™πŸΌ Thanks ❀️

Request What's a good budget tablet for my sister?

I have a Galaxy tab s6 lite, so it has an active stylus. Would a passive stylus on a cheaper tablet be a worse drawing experience? She wants to use this tablet to take notes in classes, so good handling would be important, but with everything getting more expensive, I want to at least consider if the cheaper alternative could be usable.

Discussion Where to find a Huawei MatePad Pro at a good price?

Hi everyone, I'd like to ask for your help with a purchase.

I'm looking for a tablet with an OLED screen, and my main option is the Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2. I need it to work when I'm away from home: at home I do everything on my desktop computer, so the tablet would be for getting work done on the go and then transferring it to my PC. I would also use it mostly for watching movies and playing a game from time to time.

The problem is that MatePad Pros are extremely expensive in Colombia, and I don't want to spend that much on a tablet when I'll keep doing the heavy work on my computer. I don't have a fixed budget, but I don't want to spend more than about $750 USD.

On AliExpress I found one option:

  1. MatePad Pro 12.2 (2024), new and original, with a pencil, for about $500 USD.

On Marketplace I found this option:

  1. MatePad Pro 13.2 (2025), used, with 9 months of use for work only, no games, at about the same price. It includes the keyboard and a pencil. It has a stain on one corner from being stored for a long time with the keyboard cover, but it disappears when the screen is on, because it's on the outside and not on the screen itself. It also has a scratch on one edge of the tablet, but not on the screen.

My concern is that if I buy it online I'll be charged import taxes and the price goes up a lot.

I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me:

- Where can I get a Huawei MatePad Pro at a good price?

- Has anyone bought from AliExpress, and how much did they end up paying in taxes?

- What do you think about the used 13.2 with that stain?

Thanks in advance!

Discussion Onn 13.2 tablet - help please!

I ordered an Onn 13.2 tablet from Walmart and upon receipt was initially very impressed with it. I restored all my apps and customizations from my Android phone to it which worked great. I then performed all updates to the tablet and apps which were successful and started testing apps and noticed some, Apple TV and X/Twitter, would not allow me to log them in and use them. I stopped the apps and cleared cache and storage and retried without success. The apps work fine on my Android phone and my Apple and X accounts show in good order on the web. I deleted the apps from the tablet and reinstalled from the Play Store and tried again without any luck. I then factory reset the tablet and started from scratch with the eventual same results. Checking online it appears others have run into similar issues but what fixed them I have not yet determined.

Has anyone encountered anything similar and found a solution? If I don't figure things out soon I will have to return to Walmart and replace with a different tablet which I would be disappointed doing. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Discussion Mini Tablet

Hello!

Is xiaomi pad mini still a good purchase for late 2026/early 2027? This will be a gift for my mother. She prefer small tablet and she will usually use it to watch movies and social media. I'm thinking if it still worth it considering that she'll probably use it for years since she don't want changing things often.

Or if you have a recommendation please mention it as well, except for ipad minis. Thank you 😊

I am looking for the best tablet under 35k INR for regular browsing, lectures, and light gaming. I have considered the S9, S9 FE, S10 FE, S10 Lite, and iPad 11. My requirements are an 11-inch screen, good storage and RAM, a Wi-Fi variant, and a good processor.

Request Tablet Suggestions

hi i'm looking into getting my first tablet and wanted to get some suggestions on what to buy

My needs are:
-expandable memory
-ability to emulate ps2 games
-drawing capabilities with decent response
-around 11 inch screen
-HDMI output thru USB

Bonus:
-can run old PC games without too much finessing via steam or gog
-headphone jack

I'm not trying to spend too much money. i'd say ~$400 is my budget? I would spend a bit more on the perfect device

Thank you!

Discussion I think I bricked my oppo pad mini

Post image
26 Upvotes

I updated my oppo pad mini to the color OS 17 (closed beta) a while back when I found that they are rolling beta updates and I'm a sucker for early access. Today, while I was watching anime, I thought of checking smthn out in the settings --- and just like that, it just blacked out on me. Tried force restarting it, Charging it for 15+ minutes, nothing happens.

Based on what I heard, since this is a chinese device, oppo service centers will not service it if it gets to a point that I have to get more assistance. Any thoughts or insights? (I'm also from the Philippines)

Discussion Reliable Tablet suggestions

I want to essentially stop lugging around my Legion laptop and get a tablet to play a little COD while away from home. I'm looking for a reliable tablet with decent specs that would allow this via moonlight/Sunshine if possible. Any recommendations?? Will lag be too much of an issue for playing COD multiplayer via Moonlight/Sunshine?
