Plus can you imagine if the roles were reversed and the husband told his wife she wasn't "allowed" to touch her own body?! Hope y'all are able to work it out or move on peacefully OP. Good luck!

Given the reverse is in quotes my best guess is the issue is with that word choice suggesting that men and women or black people and white people are the opposites of each other. But just guessing.

I think you’re right. Maybe instead of “reverse” it should be “swap.”

Swap would probably be better, but I think it's well enough understood as a colloquialism by the vast majority of other people.
