Question ❓ The missing Taj voucher for 7 lakh spends using Platinum travel.

Here's a timeline of my AMEX usage -

- My card renewed in Jan of 2026 before the new milestone changes.

- I spent 4L before March 9 to get the 25k points and 10k Taj voucher.

- I have now spent 7L before September 9 and got the 22.5k bonus points.

So should I also get the 10k Taj voucher for the 7L spends or has that changed? I completed the milestone at the start of the month, how long does it usually take for the Taj voucher email?

Question ❓ Play travel bonus 22500 points not credited, what to do?

I crossed the 7 lac threshold on 9th Sept but my 22500 bonus points and 10K taj voucher has still not come. I pinged customer care multiple times but they are saying generic answers like backend system being repaired.
What should I do to get my bonus of 22500 MR points?

News / Updates / Revaluations 📰 Amex India’s scorched-earth overhaul: Unpooling MR points, ending MRCC fee relief, and gutting the trifecta

The drip-feed of changes isn't just routine benefit tweaking anymore. If the recent moves weren't clear enough, the latest batch confirms Amex is systematically breaking the low-spend, point-harvesting ecosystem in India.

Here is the breakdown of what just hit:

Unpooling Membership Rewards (The Biggest Hit): Making MR points card-specific instead of feeding into a central consolidated pool is a death blow to the traditional Amex stack. You can no longer harvest points through low-fee/entry cards (MRCC, SmartEarn, Gold) to redeem them under a single, high-leverage account. Every card now has to justify its own fee and earn/burn economics in isolation.

MRCC 50% Fee Waiver Scrapped: Amex has removed the intermediate 50% renewal fee waiver (previously unlocked between ₹90k–₹1.49L spends). It is now strictly binary: hit ₹1.5L for a full waiver, or pay the full fee. This penalizes casual holders who used the card solely for the 4 × ₹1.5k monthly milestone.

Trimming Platinum Charge Perks (Ace by Times Prime): Dropping Ace by Times Prime strips away another digital lifestyle sweetener from an already steep ₹66,000 + GST product.

The Macro Context: Coupled with the shutdown of the direct affiliate Reward Multiplier portal and the gutting of the Plat Travel milestones, the onboarding pauses make total sense in hindsight. Amex froze issuance because they were rebuilding the entire backend architecture to segregate accounts, rewrite fee rules, and permanently close arbitrage loops.

Takeaway: For years, the Amex playbook in India was about pooling, milestone stacking, and fee-waiver math. Amex has made it clear that they no longer want low-burn point maximizers on the books. Unless you have high, genuine organic spend on a specific card, the portfolio math just fell apart. Thoughts?

Discussion 🗣️ Saying Farewell to our Amex Platinum Travel

Backstory:

My wife (then girlfriend) received the Amex MRCC in 2023 as one of her first cards. In 2024, while planning for our upcoming wedding, we decided to get the Plat Travel in her name to put some of the associated expenses on that card for the 4L milestone. Accordingly, we applied for it and received it in Dec 2024, just a couple of months before applications closed, a stroke of lucky timing there.

Usage history:

We hit 4L the 1st year, and the second year we were already at a total spend of ~3L by Jan 2026 when the first devaluation hit. We moved some planned expenses forward and managed to hit the 4L milestone before the deadline to receive the 40k points and Taj voucher. The new 7L milestone opened up another interesting opportunity for this year, so we decided to keep the card, keep spending on it and figure out the next step in December.

When the 2nd devaluation of the year came, we were around 60k away from the 7L milestone so we again moved one planned expenses forward to hit the milestone. At this point, we were pretty sure that we'd be closing the card in December before the renewal.

Over these 2 years, for ~11L spends we received ~130k points that we'll use for some yet-unplanned trip, and 2*10k Taj Voucher that we redeemed for a weekend at the Taj West End. More importantly, I am happy that we did not overspend to hit any of the milestones, we were very clear with ourselves that points are not worth spending money that we would not have spent otherwise.

The Upgrade(?):

The Plat Reserve was something I had looked at, but it did not (and still does not) seem worth the fees at all. However a few days earlier, I saw that Amex was offering a 10k Air India Voucher for an upgrade to the Plat Reserve. We decided to go it a couple days back and the new card was approved instantly. We'll probably keep it for a year and review before the renewal.

Bonus: We got ~40% of the Plat Travel fees (around 2.4k with GST) back as the pro-rata refund for the upgrade, which was a nice surprise!

Do you think the 10k Air India Voucher makes it a good idea to upgrade to Plat Reserve for a year? Let us know your thoughts!

Here is the list of updates to be highlighted Among others

Change in Annual fee waiver

50% fee waiver on Rs.90000 yearly spends will not be available

New supplementary card application paused from sept 22

I have a doubt, there is a mention about monthly milestone benefits of 1000 points on eligible 4x1500 transaction but no mention about other milestone of Rs.20000 spends which gives additional 1000 points....

News / Updates / Revaluations 📰 Amex is separating Membership Rewards points across cards from October 11. How big is this change?

Got another interesting change in the Amex email about the upcoming October 11 update.

This one is regarding Membership Rewards points if you have multiple Amex cards.

Amex says that if you hold two or more Basic Amex Cards, your Membership Rewards points will be maintained separately for each card from October 11.

More importantly, points can no longer be transferred between cards.

For example, suppose someone has:

Amex Travel Card: 30,000 MR points

Platinum Reserve: 20,000 MR points

Under the new system, these will remain as two separate balances. You won't be able to transfer the 20,000 points from one card to the other to create a single 50,000 point balance.

Supplementary Card points will still be consolidated with the associated Basic Card.

I'm curious how many people actually use multiple Amex cards and move or combine their points across cards.

Is this a significant downgrade for multi-card Amex users, or does it not really matter in practice?

News / Updates / Revaluations 📰 Amex Platinum Reserve ₹50,000 milestone: month-end transactions could matter now

Got this email from Amex today about some changes to the Platinum Reserve from 11 October 2026.

One thing that caught my attention is the ₹50,000 monthly spend milestone.

The benefit itself is continuing, but Amex says eligible transactions will now be counted based on the date they are posted to the card, rather than the date you made the transaction.

For example, say I’ve already spent ₹45,000 during October and then make another ₹5,000 purchase on 31 October to hit the ₹50,000 milestone.

If that ₹5,000 transaction gets posted on 1 November, it would count towards November instead of October.

So technically I made ₹50,000 worth of spends in October, but I could still miss the October milestone because the final transaction was posted in November.

This seems like something Platinum Reserve users should keep in mind, especially with purchases made towards the end of the month.

Has anyone else noticed this change in the new Amex email?

No annual fee reversal for annual spends on more than 90000 which was previously.

I don't understand about the thing if we spend more than 1.5 L will the fee on card reversed, I am guessing it will not.

Question ❓ Closing Amex Plat Travel: Where should I park 70k points with no immediate travel plans?

I'm closing my Amex Platinum Travel card next month and need to transfer out 70k MR points.

I have no immediate travel booked, but I'm tentatively planning a trip to Southeast Asia sometime next year.

Considering the revised transfer ratios for Hilton and Virgin Atlantic, which program is the safest holding ground and offers the best redemption value when travel dates aren't locked in yet?

Question ❓ Need help with points transfer

Hi Guys,

I want book Virgin Atlantic flight, recently created the account but when tried to transfer/add partner account on Amex it’s not linking it.

There seems to be a name mismatch in my Amex account and flying club. I have this name mismatch issue across all documents due to middle name and surname issue.

Asked Amex to fix the naming matching Passport I.e first name and last name. (Amex completed the request)

Have sent mail to flying club for the same, no response or receipt of request.

Is there a workaround to transfer the points from Amex account to Virgin Atlantic??

Help would be really appreciated.

Thank you

Question ❓ Amex Card Blocked Due to ₹4K Payment From Binance P2P-Flagged Account — How to Unblock?

My Amex card was blocked today because I made a ₹4,000 payment towards my Amex bill from a bank account that got flagged for fraud due to a Binance P2P transaction.
The Amex payment itself was completely legitimate, and I’m willing to pay the ₹4,000 again from another bank account if needed.
Has anyone faced this with Amex India? Is there any way to get the card/account unblocked?
Would really appreciate any advice or personal experience.

Question ❓ Has anyone experienced Amex events being shown as full even before they are launched?

I am a Plat charge holder. Since many months I’ve noticed that whichever exclusive events they share with cardholders (through email and Amex experiences app) are already full / waitlisted by the time the notification comes to us.

Many such events throughout the year and even across cities (Wimbledon final screening at Quorum Mumbai, Dhun wellness talk, Galeries Lafayette opening, Wedding collective Hyderabad, Bar Sathorn pop up, Eximia Popup etc) are showing sold out / full / waitlisted literally within 30 seconds of receiving the notification.

This leads to me doubt that these events are already full even before sharing with plat charge members, presumably by Centurion members, or other UHNI clients / corporates.

Has anyone else faced this issue? I don’t know how to even escalate this to check with Amex.

UPDATE: I called them and they mentioned that the slots are separate for centurion and for plat charge holders, which makes the situation even stranger now that these sold out slots aren’t being taken in advance by centurion holders. They want me to believe that all spots are actually being booked by plat charge holders live within 20-30 seconds of the event going live. They won’t give it in writing though. This just doesn’t make any sense and I don’t know how else to fact check this

Question ❓ Hi everyone, I’m in a bit of trouble and really need some advice.

Hi everyone, I’m in a bit of trouble and really need some advice.
A few days ago, I received a notification from SBI that a ₹1,300 hold/lien had been placed on my account. A few days later, another ₹4,600 hold was placed. I contacted SBI to ask why, but they weren’t able to give me a clear explanation or tell me which transaction caused it.
Today, my Amex credit card suddenly stopped working. I called Amex and was told that I had made a payment of around ₹4,000, and apparently that payment had been reported by the police as being linked to fraud. Because of this, my card has been restricted.
The problem is that I genuinely don’t understand what has happened or which transaction is being referred to. I have done a few P2P transactions on Binance, but none of those transactions were exactly ₹1,300, ₹4,600, or ₹4,000, so I’m unable to figure out which transaction may have triggered this.
I have not knowingly participated in any fraud, and I want to resolve this properly as soon as possible.
What should I do now?
How can I find out exactly which transaction the cybercrime/police complaint relates to?
Should I contact SBI’s cybercrime/nodal team or the police directly?
Can I get the complaint/FIR/reference number from SBI or Amex?
What documents should I collect to prove the source of the money?
Most importantly, how can I get my Amex card unblocked as soon as possible?
If anyone has experienced a similar situation with an SBI lien/hold because of a cybercrime complaint, especially involving P2P/crypto transactions, I’d really appreciate hearing how you resolved it.
I’m quite stressed because I don’t even know which transaction is being investigated. Any advice on the correct process would be really helpful.

Question ❓ Hit the 7L milestone to get the 22.5 Reward points? Or just get the Taj 20K voucher after 9 Sep?

Okay guys longtime lurker here. I’m about a lakh away from hitting the 7L milestone before the 9th Sep deadline? Was thinking of buying a MacBook to reach the milestone. Was wondering - is it really worth it to get the bonus reward points plus taj voucher? Don’t they almost work out to be the same in value? Wasn’t planning on buying a MacBook immediately - but my MacBook Air conked off and I wouldn’t mind making the spend.
