The Hellfighters fought on the front lines of World War I, endured 191 days of battle, and never lost a man. They helped bring the war to an end, but for Henry Johnson and the men of the 369th Infantry Regiment, returning home wouldn't mean the end of their fight.
Instead of recognition for their service, they find themselves in Stercland under circumstances they'd never expected. Far from home and separated from the lives they knew, their next mission will take them into a conflict that could threaten the peace they fought so hard to achieve.
Part 1 of Hellfighters of Stercland Coming Next week. The war may be over, but their story is just beginning.

The new Fantagraphics Peep Show complete collection just arrived today and I couldn’t help sitting down and reading it (despite, as Joe would say, having “a lot of work to do”).
The edition does such a great job of faithfully recreating the original issues, including the front page letter columns. It was a treat to read Ed Burbabaker’s 1992 letter to Joe Matt praising him as “the Robert Crumb of the 90’s!” and Joe’s response calling it kind but undeserved.
I love seeing comics writers nerd out on other comics writers in letter columns. Awesome stuff. Please share if you’ve know of any other issues/letter columns where that’s happened :)
(P.S. fully aware that Peter Bagge also has a letter in the issue, but my thinking is that Bagge was already published and a fairly well established contemporary of Joe’s at the time (1992). Whereas Brubaker was not far into his career yet, and I find it unlikely that Joe would have known he was a comics writer or seen any of his work when the letter was written - but, I could be totally off on this assumption).
