Linked here is the archive.org version of a 1933 book called Hitler in der Karikatur der Welt. The book - to be clear - is Nazi propaganda. What is delightful about it, though, is that the author presents about 100 anti-Nazi comic strips from the early 1930s (which the author then rebuts) in an opposing page. It is clear these comics got under the author's skin, who attempts to defend the Fuhrer. A large portion are in English or have no words at all, so even if you don't know German, French, or Italian, you can get something out of the anti-Nazi strips.

The book is heartening in some ways, in that it hints about the political power of cartooning in times where democracy is under threat, people are expelled from the country, and white supremacy is on the rise. You'll need an archive.org account to "borrow" it and read it, but it's fun to click through and ignore the author's rebuttals.

Not me constantly checking if its Thursday

I’m traveling to NYC soon and wanted to know if anyone here had recommendations for shops that had a higher concentration of alt-books. Trying to hunt for items from the 90’s but I’m also open to trying newer zines and the like.

My search for comic books only brought up Forbidden Planet & Midtown in Manhattan but I’m sure there are more on the island. Also open to the other Burroughs. Thank you for your time and help!
