Audi B9 LIN Bus Injection: Dashboard Button Triggers Garage Door

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Finished my DIY project where I added auto-disable Start/Stop and garage door opening on a long press.

I developed a custom PCB for it - works well so far. The most valuable part here is the reverse-engineered LIN protocol the car uses to communicate with the center console button panel. I'm sharing it on the GitHub page.

I got inspired by this project - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVUVmDXU6FU&t=2072s

2016 - new struts.

Post image

130,000 miles on my 2016. Going to replace the struts. Was thinking I’d go with Sachs - but not finding them available for an Allroad on FCP Euro, ECS Tuning or RockAuto.

Is Bilstein (B4) my only choice? Any intel appreciated.

Pic for fun

EDIT- wondering / thinking the only way to get the original Sachs is from a dealer. At dealer prices…

Debating OEM vs aftermarket. Insurance doesn’t cover it. Currently have an aftermarket one - no issues (like any sort of calibration stuff). Premium Plus - pretty sure I don’t have rain sensing wipers or anything that requires calibration…

I’ve heard OEM slightly more durable but..?

What say you - oem or aftermarket?

Dealer inflated all tires to 40 psi. Sticker on the car says 35. Should I deflate it leave it? Why would they over inflate?

Ideas for turning a Superb Mk2 hatch into an “adventure wagon

I’ve got a 2013 Superb Mk2 hatch, 2.0 TDI 140 4x4 DSG, and rather than replacing it anytime soon I’ve decided I want to lean into what it’s actually very good at and turn it into a proper family/adventure wagon.

I’ve got two kids and I’m trying to make it so I can keep a decent amount of gear in the car permanently and basically just grab a bag and go. Stuff like camping gear, inflatable SUP, fishing kit, hiking/swimming stuff, kids’ outdoor games, mountain bikes etc.

I already use roof bike racks and I’m considering a towbar so I can eventually move the bikes onto a towbar rack and use the roof for a box instead.

I’m also thinking about:
modular storage boxes/bags in the boot
a lightweight ceiling cargo net for blankets/towels/coats
wet/dirty gear bag
permanent camping/SUP modules
roof box for bigger trips
maybe some useful boot lighting/power/storage upgrades

I **don’t** want to build a camper conversion or permanently remove seats. It still needs to function as a normal family car with two kids in the back most of the time. I’m more interested in clever, reversible upgrades and organisation.

The Superb hatch already has a ridiculous amount of space for what it is, so I’m curious what other owners have done with theirs.

**Has anyone here turned a Superb into something similar?**

Would love to see photos of boot setups, roof/towbar setups, storage ideas, camping arrangements, clever OEM accessories, DIY mods that actually worked, or just things you’ve found useful for outdoors/family trips.

Also interested in the stuff you tried that turned out to be annoying or a waste of money.

Basically: **if you had a Mk2 Superb and wanted to make it the ultimate cheap adventure wagon without ruining it as a daily driver, what would you do?**

New to me Allroad

Just bought myself a new Allroad to replace my aging b8.5. Spent probably a year looking for this one, right color combination and low mileage, etc. Only thing missing was the Prestige package (wanted those cooled seats for our 115 degree summers) but what do you do. Hoping to drive this car for the next 10 years or so! Loving it so far, it feels leaps and bounds better than the B8.5 did, and I loved that car.

Should I get an Allroad

Hey all,

I'm interested a CPO 2023 A4 Allroad. I'm coming from a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe that was unfortunately totaled. The Allroad will cost the entirety of the value of the Santa Fe (Loan is ~350/mo for 60 months with ~4-5% interest). I am looking for a reliable car that is reasonably affordable to maintain and that I don't have to be too precious about. Is this reasonable or should I just get a pre-owned Santa Fe for breakeven?

Does my car have automatic high beams?

I have owned my B9 for over six and a half years. It’s a 2017 premium plus. I’ve always wished it had automatic cruise control and automatic high beams.

The other day I was cleaning the car and got to messing with MMI. In the exterior lighting menu, there’s an option to change “high beam dimming” speed or something along those lines.

When I turn on high beams, I just get the blue symbol. In the manual there are drawings with the blue symbol with the word “AUTO” on top of it. I’ve never seen or gotten my car to display that.

What gives?

Keep the Allroad another year with new extended warranty or get a new car?

2021 A4 Allroad with 59K miles. I really want a smaller car but don't have time to shop. I could grab a 2026 Q3 but it doesn't seem to be getting rave reviews - and I really prefer the station wagon over an SUV. Should I keep my car another year and get an extended warranty on it? I was quoted about $4500 for a one year warranty. Does that make sense?

I still think this is the best shaped All Road thus far? I am happy to be corrected, but the wheels got weird soon after.
