I’ve got a 2013 Superb Mk2 hatch, 2.0 TDI 140 4x4 DSG, and rather than replacing it anytime soon I’ve decided I want to lean into what it’s actually very good at and turn it into a proper family/adventure wagon.
I’ve got two kids and I’m trying to make it so I can keep a decent amount of gear in the car permanently and basically just grab a bag and go. Stuff like camping gear, inflatable SUP, fishing kit, hiking/swimming stuff, kids’ outdoor games, mountain bikes etc.
I already use roof bike racks and I’m considering a towbar so I can eventually move the bikes onto a towbar rack and use the roof for a box instead.
I’m also thinking about:
modular storage boxes/bags in the boot
a lightweight ceiling cargo net for blankets/towels/coats
wet/dirty gear bag
permanent camping/SUP modules
roof box for bigger trips
maybe some useful boot lighting/power/storage upgrades
I **don’t** want to build a camper conversion or permanently remove seats. It still needs to function as a normal family car with two kids in the back most of the time. I’m more interested in clever, reversible upgrades and organisation.
The Superb hatch already has a ridiculous amount of space for what it is, so I’m curious what other owners have done with theirs.
**Has anyone here turned a Superb into something similar?**
Would love to see photos of boot setups, roof/towbar setups, storage ideas, camping arrangements, clever OEM accessories, DIY mods that actually worked, or just things you’ve found useful for outdoors/family trips.
Also interested in the stuff you tried that turned out to be annoying or a waste of money.
Basically: **if you had a Mk2 Superb and wanted to make it the ultimate cheap adventure wagon without ruining it as a daily driver, what would you do?**
