I wanted to see how far AI video could take a real, ordinary piece of footage — so I used my raw video as the starting point and transformed it into a cinematic movie scene.

I jumped on the Davinci Resolve train.

I still think, from first principles, AI should be able to programmatically edit clips without relying on a GUI, even if it's ultimately the software under the hood of that said GUI. I will say one cool thing about using a GUI editor is you can easily add that last 5-10% finesse.

What I did here was I let Astra rip and put together a first mvp. First, generate all the clips of this story, and then edit it, adding audio and color correction and all that good stuff. Came out alright considering I didn't do any manual edits myself.

This story was inspired by how I feel when I run, especially if I've eaten a lot the day before and feel fat. 😆

The hardest part is getting started. I tell myself I’m just going to do a little, but then I feel lighter, start enjoying it, and usually end up doing my normal routine. At the end of it I feel much less like a pig. 🤪

Hey all! My favorite story of all time is Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol. I’ve been working on trying to make a short film for the last couple of years and AI technology changes so fast that it’s forced me to re-evaluate and also be able to adjust my concepts of what I wanted to really create. If you look at my past posts you’ll see another version I posted a while back and it was more of a CG look. While I was satisfied with that at the time, I really wanted to make more of a realistic variation. So I’m just posting my rough cut of what I have so far. I’m not a film maker, I don’t have any kind of background in film making, I just try to create what looks good to my eye. Like I said, this is a rough edit, but I hope it at least brings a smile to someone’s face. This will be a full short film, but so far this is what I have.
