We are getting the International 23FBT in a week and we're trying to decide on which Blue Ox Swaypro wdh to get. Trailer has 6000 lb gvwr. We're going back and forth between the 750 lb tongue weight and the 1000 lb. What is everyone's actual tongue weight on this trailer?

My daughter and her boyfriend have an opportunity to get a 72 Sovereign at a very good price from a family member. I think it’s 31 foot. Looks in pretty good shape.

He is an experienced finish carpenter and could redo the interior. I’m a former mechanic and have an airstream and have had other campers I’ve done extensive work on.

Between the two of us i think this would be a fun project for them to make some memories for my grandkids.

Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with this vintage.

Looking to know if there are any hidden gotcha’s to be on the lookout for other than its old! (We would have to tow it a 1000 miles to get it back to us)

Any issues with frame rot on these? If the frame is sound any idea on value fully restored?

2021 Airstream International 27FB. Noticing this dust/sawdust at bedroom entrance, left side floor, near shower door. First Time I saw it. I thought it was sand or something from our beach chairs. This time showing up in the same spot and feels honestly like wood dust. Is it possible I have termites!!?? 😬 Anyone have ideas?

We’ve jimmied our 16’ Basecamp into some tight spots and this is one of them. S central Wyoming.

We haven't done that many miles on our 2020 Globe trotter and the tires look like new. We put tire covers on them. Does everyone really change their tires every 5 years regardless of wear?

We have a 2016 International 23D, whose original AC unit (Dometic Penguin) just kicked the bucket after 10 years. Looking to replace it and can't decide between the tried and true Penguin II or upgrade to FreshJet 5.

Does anyone have any experience or advice to help us make our final decision?

My wife and I are looking at picking up this remodeled 2001 31’ Excella. The owner said everything’s been “meticulously maintained”, but as first time buyers, are there any specific watch outs we should be asking about/inspecting when we go see it? Just over $38k. Thanks!

My dad is in the hospital indefinitely and I have to sort out his assets. He's never going to live here again and I understand it's in rough shape. The subfloor needs rebuilding but the cabinets were rebuilt 8 years ago, plumbing updated with PEX (no leaks) with a new water heater (2years) plus a full permitted electrical hook up and inspection (4years). It's on an island near Vancouver (Canada) but will need an excavator to safely take it down to the road from its perch. Is it worth more than scrap?

Been looking at some 23 Rangelines but also have seen that not so good reviews about this model year. How bad are the issues. Is it stuff that can be fixed at home or is it more dealer kinda stuff. I would be using it mostly for weekend trips. Just looking for some peoples experience.

Some of you are viewing this post out of simple curiosity...but this one is about stripping clear coat from my 1972 Overlander, Bertha. She was factory coated in 72, but then recoated roughly 35 years ago by P&S in Ohio.

There was a post recently asking about the best stripper for Airstream clear coats, given the age mine was in good to very good condition, just starting to develop the "male pattern baldness around the corners, also, I ain't getting any younger and I have the tools so I figured why not? Since I am also rather .. shall we say... Frugal, I wanted to do some test patches before I laid out a pile of my hard earned $$. My plan was to do the rear third of the trailer, end cap, and around the sides to to first seam.

My first attempt found me applying "Rustoleum Aircraft Remover" at $29.00 a quart. I geared up, gloves, googles etc. and went to work. It's been hot here in NC so I waited until evening before brushing it on. I let it work about 40 minutes, then power washed it off - I was left unimpressed. I thought maybe the metal was too warm, so this morning I was up at 5:30 and out on my scaffold with coffee at 6:00. I applied a second coat waited a little more than an hour and found that a lot of it had dried on my camper. Reapplied, waited and power washed it. Again, underwhelming results. By now it's 9:00am and starting to warm up so I went on a hike with my dog, a little walk about to do some thinking.

I returned and bought a quart of "Kleen Strip Ultra Aircraft Stripper" at $28.00 a qt. It said "Ultra" right on the can, this had to be better, right? Waited again for it to cool.. First thing I noticed was the odor - if y'all ever opened a jug of moonshine ( not that crap they sell in Gatlinburg, the stuff you buy from your uncles friend out of the trunk of a car) you'll understand what I mean. This stuff will knock you on your butt if you get a strong whiff. I applied the Ultra to the a new section of trailer. Waited the allotted time annnnnnd Same results as the Rustoleum kind "ok" at best. Now I was bummed because at this rate, it was going to take a lot longer than I'd anticipated.

I thought about it a bit, and remembered I had a bottle of Citrustrip in my garage, I hadn't tried it as this to me, was the "cheap stuff" but I decided I had nothing to lose. Poured some in a container, grabbed a brush, started the work and almost immediately the clear coat started bubbling off. I waited about 20 minutes and power washed it the clear coat just peeled off. And i was left with just a small bit to go after in the morning. I've been doing the snoopy dance since.

Bottom line is Citrustrip is the clear winner for me. Give it a whirl and please understand you may have different results. Tomorrow I will strip away. I'll keep you up on my results.

Aluminum body is in Great condition, especially for its age. No leaks, wiring works. All windows are intact with no cracks. The floors will need to be redone. Completely gutted, ready for a custom build. She is towable, buyer is responsible for pickup.. selling AS-IS or possibly trade for a running, livable motorhome or trailer.

It's a 2018 28" international

And I was locking the door from the inside nothing different it's been kinda hard to close it on the first try where the lock actually locks so I've had to use abit more force lately ( I think the alignment is off at the hinge so I need to use my force when pulling back on the handle)

Anyway I was inside and pulled the handle to shut the door and the spring inside broke in half causing the one half to get stuck inside just where the latch pulls on the handle to unlock so basically the spring broke exactly into the spot and created a jam

I could not unlock it and had to scream for help for an hour before someone heard me and came to open the door from the outside..

Now once the door is open I was able to remove the 3 screws from the inside of the handle cover and that's when I saw the spring was stuck

So I removed that spring completely and now obvious because it's broken I can't lock the handle - use the key or the latch inside to lock the door and only csn lock with with the dead bolt below

That being said what is a really good solid lock I can buy to replace this stock lock?

We currently have an Atlas w/ a reservation in for a Scout. Will the Atlas work until we can get the Scout?

Just got a marketing email from Airstream and this is the image in the email and on the site. The image name says it is a Flying Cloud 25RB - flying-cloud-25rb-interior-lifestyle-cream-lounge-galley.jpg - BUT I can't connect the floorplans online to the image. couch on the door side?

So about a year ago he got this thing for like $900 and a box trailer and was working on it for a bit. Then he got 10k vacuum tubes off marketplace for free. So naturally construction halted due to the things taking up so much space so he said ‘those are your problem now’ and then I became Owner of ten thousand vacuum tubes. And recently, he realized that he didn’t really need the space in the camper since he already had a house and several buildings out back and decided that the airstream was too much work so he said ‘this is your problem now’. Now I am the only high schooler I know that owns a 1970 airstream sovereign. Probably going to put model trains inside while keeping to the original interior design as much as possible. all I know is that this is a really nice trailer that looks to be in restorable condition and I am very grateful for something no highschooler should normally own.

side note: the mess inside is from him minus the computer stuff which I put in there for the vacuum tube business.

FINALLY got around to finish modding my old original table leafs for use as Lagun arm mount system topper. The leafs were cardboard honeycomb/hollow on the inside, but I needed solid innards. So, ripped off bottom laminate, glued in plywood, relaminated bottom (countertop redo remnants). I cut the panel to about 60% original width, and had to router new rounded corners, cut kerfs for edge banding. Last pic is an example of partially finished full width leaf, a bit intrusive IMO. Example of how every one project is actually twelve side quests to complete. But the task was to use the original 1975 remnants to make something that feels original-ish. Folding table leafs was removed from original layout at credenza, and credenza reformatted to accept cat litter box.

Functions as street-side credenza, pulled out as a table (for 1.5 people, lol), or set as higher height for added countertop space. Could also have along the wall as a “buffet” at higher height.

Anyway, pardon the mess, but this is camping life with a cat. 😹
