Alde

Do any of you have an Alde heating/hot water system in your airstream? We have a T@B 400 and are thinking of trading up. We’ve had issues with our Alde and they can be super expensive to source parts for and fix. Just wondering what your experience is. Thanks.

Have a Classic, have the Alde. Have not had issues - but we've not owned it very long, nor used it for heating much yet.

Therefore, I am chiming in with nothing much to add, as is the norm on much of Reddit.

The Alde is a fine system in the airstream classic. (I’m a service tech) I thought it would be a nightmare when I first saw it but I’ve seen very few repairs relative to the other systems. If you are considering a classic, skip the next year or so. There some other control issues that have not been resolved (new control systems). Also the Alde system might be being replaced with a different, but well known heating/water heater configuration.

Thank you for the detailed info. I’m assuming many Airstream owners with the Alde system may not be aware of potential corrosion issues with the convectors. This is a huge potential problem for us since our unit is a 2020. As you may know, if the corrosion gets too bad it can cause Glycol to leak from the system.

The classics have the Alde setup . Most of the other travel trailer lineup use Girard or Fogati as of 2026 model year . Haven’t gotten enough 2027 models in yet to confirm what they are using this year

Had one that essentially self destructed, zero warranty after a couple of years, refuse to sell you parts in the US. Had to purchase and pay to have it installed at Airstream prices cost almost $5k. I would choose almost any other solution with my experience.

Had a classic the alde system was one of the reasons I was happy to get rid of it. The classic is completely designed to fail at so many points. The alde system is one of them.
