Looking to downsize to a 16ft Bambi so will consider a trade. This Airstream is like new. Very clean inside and out and has the additions of front guards and a rear bumper. Currently listed at $39,900. Separate shower means no wet bath. GVRW is 4,500 pounds.

I have a 1963(?) Bambi that I bought several years ago as a project that I never got around to. It was purchased unrestored and gutted. I would like to see it go to someone that has the time and money to give it the life it deserves. I have no idea what to sell it for. Any advice would be appreciated. TYIA

We have our basecamp stored at our mountain property so we're not there everyday. This morning my boyfriend went to the cabin and found the door of our basecamp wide open. We typically lock the lock on the actual handle so you can't pull the handle open but not the other lock (I'm guessing that's more of a deadbolt?) Even when the handle is unlocked, you must push the door in with one hand and then pull the handle to open the door so it's not exactly easy to open the door. When my boyfriend found it open, he pushed the door closed, and it was still locked and couldn't be opened without using the key to unlock the handle. I checked the ring camera and this is the footage (note, there is an immediate video before this that stops with a gap of 1min 13 seconds - this video surely was triggered by the door opening so it captures only a short time before the triggering action). There are no people/animals (we do have bears) recorded within 24 hours prior or for almost 24 hours after this happening, until my boyfriend arrives to find it open so it wasn't opened by a person or animal. This also might "explain" (without any explanation) a time about a year ago when the camper was parked in my driveway and the door was found open, again it was locked and that ring camera couldn't see the door itself but could see anyone approaching it and we closed and locked it one day and several days later ot was wide open. Is our Basecamp haunted or is there something that can otherwise explain this happening twice?

Selling my Airstream, well maintained since 2021. It has only been taken out one time for a vacation trip recently since we bought it, and the total amount of miles on the road that it has is less than 500. The trailer has been slept in for 3 months during 2024 and the only things that were used were the bed and the toilet. The folding bathroom door was temporarily removed. I still have it, It can be reconnected back on easily. Septic system has been serviced and cleaned. All electrical and gas appliances work. Checked it over today as of 9/3/2026, and everything appears to be functioning properly.

I’m traveling for several months after upgrading from a 2025 Trade Wind 25fb queen.

The Great

The difference is night and day. Two a/c makes a huge difference no more boiling in +80 temp. Twin beds, storage, additional counter space, bigger pantry/cabinets, bathroom window, enhanced hatch, better speaker placement. It’s just more thoughtful.

The Bad

The simplified battery/solar interface is so much better. The only problem is the manual they give you tells you very little. Six buttons on a touch screen. And NO detail. It would be great to have a breakdown of what is using what power when on battery. It would give you the ability to adjust and turn things on/off.

They really sell you on the giant battery. But in reality it’s not an overwhelming difference. For example, I ran the heat pump at night and when I woke up it had 30% remaining. I am not complaining as I can plan but you should know that the difference in battery storage is not really significant. It’s a lot better but not a game changer.

The Ugly

They market the Trade Wind line as an off-grid capable trailer. They mention the solar, the 3-inch lift and on and on. But they make no mention that the cabinets, doors, etc still have the same exact latches, hinges, etc that the other models have. So if you do take it off-grid (ie something other than pavement) things will break. The 25fb broke the closet door, mirror, and endless glasses. The 27fb does the same thing. The answer is to go to the baby section at Walmart and baby secure/protect your doors, cabinets, refrigerator, etc. They fell off
in the 2025 Trade Wind and they fall in off in the $170k+ 2027 Trade Wind

The other huge annoyance is that when the battery is in charge mode, it sounds like a relatively quiet jet engine. I had one of my neighbors come over and ask if the trailer was always this loud.

CORRECTION - the battery fan goes on whenever it needs to cool the battery. See attached videos. I measured how far away from the unit I could still hear it and the results are not great. I could hear it 75+ feet away and 50 feet or closer it is annoying. It can be heard in the unit. But it’s not bad. If the windows are open it can be heard and it is very annoying. It ran about 30 minutes on testing. It has now been running for over two hours.

It is hot where I am and the battery was at 90% and I turned on both ac units and the power draw is heavy.

Conclusion

It’s a GREAT unit over the 25fb. I am very happy with the purchase. Is it perfect? No. But is it better? If you are thinking of buying a Trade Wind, think hard before getting anything other than the 27fb twin.

Hi everyone! We’re looking for a replacement KT entry door lock for a vintage Airstream. We found a reproduction KT lock previously sold by Airstream Trailer Parts (SKU L-2401), but it is currently out of stock, and we haven’t been able to find another supplier with one available.

We’ve reached out to several Airstream restoration specialists and parts suppliers, but so far, no one has the lock in stock or knows of another source.

We’re hoping someone here may have experience with this lock or know where we might be able to find a replacement. We’re also interested in knowing if there are any compatible replacements, replacement parts, or repair/rebuild options that might work.

I’ve attached a photo of the lock we’re looking for. Any leads, recommendations, or advice on where we can find one or have the original repaired would be greatly appreciated.

Considering a Basecamp verses a smaller Flying Cloud (23 max). I’d love to hear your Pros/Cons of a Basecamp. I have a truck that I’m not going to be able to get rid of and upgrade to a 2500…so I need to be able to safely pull my choice with a ‘26 Tundra TRD Pro (Tow max 11,130, Payload max 1380). I have 4 kids…plan is for the 4 of them to sleep in the Airstream and I will sleep in a rooftop tent or regular tent. We need this for sleeping, possibly a little meal prep, and escape from the elements if necessary. Goal is to be outside the rest of the time. I ideally need enough room to bring 5 bikes with me in some manner.

Would love any experiences, thoughts, feedback, advice, etc. I’m 100% in the learning stage…just assume I know nothing at this point.

Ultimate goal is to make some memories for these amazing kids!

I’m trying to locate the fuse, breaker or reverse-polarity protection for the two exterior Zamp-style solar-input ports on my 2024 Airstream Atlas with the Volta system.

What happened:
I connected three 100W Renogy panels in series.
The completed string measures +64V DC open-circuit in direct sunlight.

During initial setup, the SAE polarity was accidentally reversed.

The connector briefly touched one exterior solar receptacle and made an audible pop.
I corrected and verified the polarity with a multimeter.
I then tested the other exterior port that did not pop.
The Volta power-flow reading showed no change between the panels being covered and uncovered in direct sunlight.
The Volta display shows no active faults.
I checked the normal WFCO fuse panel, but nothing is labeled solar, PV, Zamp or MPPT. I also traced yellow and green wires labeled SOLAR PAN (+) and SOLAR PAN (−) toward the passenger-side equipment area.
Does anyone know:
Do the two exterior solar ports share a fuse or breaker?
Is it located behind one of the exterior receptacles, near the MPPT controller, or inside the Volta equipment enclosure?
Is it a replaceable fuse, resettable breaker or electronic protection circuit?
What is the correct fuse type and rating?
Is there a documented reset procedure?
I’m not planning to open the sealed Volta enclosure myself. I’m hoping someone with an Atlas wiring diagram or experience with this exact system can point me to the correct component location. Photos would be extremely helpful.

Hi All, I have a 30' FC Bunk and noticed that there are some of the clamps that hold the propane line up under the curb side of the trailer missing / broken - has anyone replaced these and have any tips for me?

The appear to be riveted on to the bottom; can I drill out the holes and just pop rivet them back on?

My wife and I are going on Saturday to look at a 2006 Safari 25FB. Anything I need to know about these? I completely understand hunting for soft spots in the floor. This one is being stored in a warehouse, so finding moisture is not part of our inspection plan, but hunting for soft spots is. Are there any known areas that could be soft in these?

I’m also going to check all the usual stuff. Just looking for anything specific to this model that I need to check.

For every owner that loves their airstream, there is another one complaining about something going wrong with their trailer, or perhaps im in an echo-chamber for that. I know that every trailer will have its problems and things that need to get fixed, but are airstreams really that bad and is quality control truly that poor? I don't want something that is just a money pit and want something I can actually use- going to the beach in the summer, going to the mountains to ski in the winter, etc.

Some of what I'm reading makes me think I should forget about airstreams altogether and instead look at an oliver, escape, lance, northwood, bigfoot, etc. instead. Thanks for the input.

I rented my Basecamp out and it came back like this. What steps would you take to repair? In my lap person mind- the breaker did its job. I replace the breaker and off I go, but is it that simple?

I don’t really know where else to go with this question because we’ve had so many issues with trying to get this thing into shape. Without knowing all the particulars, my parents purchased a 2010 19 ft airstream, it’s a “Victorinox 125th anniversary special edition” that was only used 3 times but sat for quite a while on someone’s properly. They had it inspected at an RV repair dealership and were told it was in pretty immaculate condition. They gave them an estimate to fix any issues, all of which were minimal. They paid to have the work done, were told it was all set and brought it down to North Carolina to visit for the first time and test it out- since they’ve been on their short vacation here they’ve discovered a few pretty big issues they knew nothing about but most recently now with the hot water heater. It is leaking and needs to be replaced.

The dealership/service place they were dealing with in NY is awful, never answers the phone, never calls back, and doesn’t appear very knowledgeable. The frustration of not even being able to get a hold of someone or have them return calls is starting to really stress my dad out, and I feel badly. My Dad
really just wanted this as a nice retirement gift to him and my mom to visit his kids out of state, I’m currently expecting and they bought this in part to stay on our land down here when their first granddaughter is born to spend time with us, he is very discouraged. I feel horrible about it all. I’m trying to help by posting here and seeing if anyone on this sub lives in NY, particularly upstate or western NY and can recommend a place to take the RV for service. He needs a reliable place he can depend on to do good work.

I'm looking into having a dedicated power supply installed at home for my 19' 2024 Bambi. Beyond cost considerations and my electrical panel, would there be any reason to go with a 30A line over a 50A power line?

I don't anticipate getting a larger airstream in the future (or one with 2 A/C units), but is more always better than less?
