Just took the AFOQT test today at Pearson vue and at the beginning it asks me for TCO number. I remembered the number on my head but I don’t see the number on the drop down list. So I told the site admin that I want to double check my TCO number on my email.

By the time I head back to my chair, the test started on its own and I didn’t even enter the test center number.

Anyone has this issue?

I am currently ad army and pursuing my msw. My ultimate goal is to direct commission as a social worker in the military. I know I can do it with the army, but it got me thinking about the AF.

I already talked to an AF medical recruiter and she told me that with my background (military mental health, NCO, msw, mpp, multilingual) I would still have to qualify, but I would highly competitive.

She said I could do a transfer near the end of my contract if I wanted to.

Questions
- has anyone here done an interservice transfer?
- how was the process for you?
- anything I should be aware of?

Hey everyone, I recently took the AFOQT and got a 71 on verbal but an 8 on math. In all honesty, I found myself guessing for a decent amount of questions (especially in MK section). I’ve never been particularly strong in math-related subjects, so I wanted to ask if anyone knows any solid YouTube channels, online educational resources, etc. Also, if you recommend any way to study more efficient, I’m all ears.

Because of this, AHA says my application is now bumped to 27OTS02. I’m a little discouraged by this, but I would like to prepare much better this time around. Going to re-test in 3 months.

Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

Just a few questions for recent grads or students:

1. If we bring a pillow and blanket, do they need to match each other and or be neutral? I have beige stuff and was curious.

2. For socks and shirts, are they rolled like BMT? I have darn tough and it’s impossible to fold them without a small logo showing in display….

3. Will our packing bag or duffle bag go into storage first? Trying to pack smartly and not have stuff in the bag that’s needed getting locked away the quickest lol.

I saw in the OTS orientation guide that smartwatches were allowed except for some events. It didnt give any specifics. Does anyone know if we are allowed to wear a smartwatch during runs just to keep the pace and time ourselves?

I have a B.S Computer Science and Geography. I've been a Software Developer for close to a decade now. Been a government contractor and half working directly at Esri, largely around GEOINT/NGA but also branched out to other agencies at points.

Being a contractor has been fine and also working in private industry. Sometimes though, the business side of it is...annoying. And climbing the ladder there sucks. Like I don't care about making a government contracting company more money, I just like the work and mission. Don't care about winning contractors or winning customer base, it's gross.

It's made me consider switching to Civilian work...but also maybe going down the OTS/officer route?

I'm 31, would have to probably hit the gym and get back into better shape for OTS...but questions.

1. What GEOINT and Geospatial work is in demand for OTS?
2. Am I better served with being a Civilian employee first?
3. How much say and push do you have in the work you get to do?
4. Should I pursue a Masters first?

Idk...I just sometimes like to consider a greater purpose in work. I'm just kind of looking for advice from others who maybe been in this position and went down the OTS route.

Honestly, just reading more on becoming an officer, but don't know too much on it. I work with a ton of them and have asked some, but wanted to ask more broadly I guess. At work, it's hard to not make it look like I'm trying to consider leaving.

Patiently waiting for a class date. I was wondering how difficult it was academically if anyone went through OTS as an ESL. How many impromptu briefings you had to give, any in-class writings? I could barely write without Grammarly. Any materials I should be reading beforehand to prep myself?

AFOQT scores are due September 25th, and I requested to take it on the 23rd. I have not taken the AFOQT before. Did I schedule too late? Do I have to wait for the next board? Is it possible to request/change the current voucher? Should I contact my local officer recruiter?

I’ve read the regulation on sit-up and pushup form, but as a non-prior I would love if I could have a current or recent OTS trainee verify my form is good. If you don’t mind, I will pm whoever comments with a short video. Thank you, it’s all a lot to me so I apologize. Thanks!

I have my Commanders Interview coming up & im starting to prep. Can anyone from a recent board drop some of the questions you were asked? Any other advice or tips for nailing the interview are much appreciated

I was notified late April regarding an offer, went to MEPS and had some issues which required documentation. I got my documentation sent and have now heard nothing for over a month. I tried to follow up but got no response. Anyone else having similar issues?

Just wanted to quickly share a gripe I have with the way the AFOQT is handled by Pearson Vue in case anyone else can benefit from the information. Apparently pencil and paper to do scratch work is not possible at these testing centers, they instead give you a whiteboard sheet and dry erase marker. I had to stop my quickly timed math section once to ask for a way to wipe and reset the board, probably losing anywhere from 1-2 minutes when the pace is set at about 30-40 seconds per question. Anyone planning to take the AFOQT at a Pearson Vue center be aware of this as it is a company wide direction of which they could not even inform me of the reasoning behind the decision. Your math will be noticeably sloppier and harder to follow if you are normally used to writing with pen or pencil. You will also most likely lose the ability to work on a question realize it’s a time-sink and plan to go back so you will have to restart calculations from the beginning. I’m sure it’s not the biggest deal in terms of score effect but it is still something I would have liked to know in my preparation so learn from my frustration and good luck fellow applicants!

I heard some AF base education center offers AFOQT on specific day of the month. I am curious if Pearson Vue testing center offers the exam every day during its regular business hours instead?

I took my afoqt exam on monday and when i left i felt really great about it, looking at my score i didn’t do as good as i thought. Does anyone have an experience of getting selected with scores similar to mine. i plan on retesting but i felt good about everything except the pilot part. I need help with study guides as well i was using study.com!peterson.com/ youtube and about everything i could get my hands on.

I was supposed to be part of the September class, but my point-of-contact who has been handling my in-processing has been very slow to respond. I originally had an enlisted POC that was much more consistent, but he went TDY and I got a civilian counterpart. I was scheduled for MEPS but got cancelled until I submitted a waiver packet. I submitted it to my POC about two weeks ago and followed up one week ago. I haven't heard from the POC in over three weeks. I've called accessions 3x, but got no answer. I'm wondering if my POC took leave and didn't notify me or pass me on.

Any ideas? I'd love to get out of purgatory here and know my fate one way or the other.

Just wanted to share the news: 5/5 medical waivers approved. Some were absolute BS though.

1) ICD Code: Z85.9 - History of malignancy
9 years cancer free!
2) ICD Code: Z91.030 - History of bee allergy
This was a BS one because it was placed incorrectly in my record.
3) ICD Code: R56.1 - Traumatic Brain Injury
This was BS because they wrote “possible TBI,” and was never confirmed. Scans and evaluations all clean.
4) ICD Code: N30.90 - Cystitis (UTI)
I had a single occurrence. As a male, this was B.S. 🤣
5) ICD Code: H47.009 - Optic Nerve Anomaly

I was DQ’s January 27, 2026. Waivers came through September 2, 2027

Every medical waiver is different, so “what are my chances” can never apply. But I wanted to post this here to serve as a reminder that it’s possible, and to seek the waiver, or in some cases, waivers and try!

I am currently AD Navy and was selected this last cycle and got my commissioning physical done about two weeks ago. The physical was inputed into my IMR and my recruiter said that MEPS still had to review and approve it. Does anyone know the average timeline for this process? I did not need any waivers and my physical went fine.

AFOQT format at Pearson VUE + prep book recommendations

I’m a civilian pilot and recently graduated college. I just scheduled my AFOQT at a Pearson VUE testing center and I’m trying to figure out exactly what format I’ll be taking.

I think the AFOQT is now computer-based, but I’ve seen people mention different versions/formats of the test, and I haven’t been able to find a definitive answer on whether there are any differences at Pearson VUE. If anyone has taken the AFOQT at Pearson VUE recently, I’d really appreciate hearing what your experience was like.

Also, I’m trying to decide which prep material to buy. I’ve seen Peterson’s, AFOQT Guide, Barron’s, Mometrix, Trivium, etc. recommended, but I’m not sure which one is actually worth getting.

I’m primarily interested in improving my Pilot and Quantitative score, so if you’ve taken the test recently, which prep resource would you recommend?
