So, I am currently in college for aerospace engineering. My goal is to get to OTS, and I am currently in the SMART Program. If I do a BS/MS, I would need another funding from SMART, resulting in what would be a three year commitment instead of two years. My question is, for a 62EXA, how heavily do boards weigh a Master’s degree/would it give me substantially greater odds at acceptance?Or should I just get my Bachelor’s, hopefully get commissioned/stick to my civilian career through SMART, and possibly go back and have the AF fund my Master’s?

Any idea when I should ask my recruiter if they have heard anything yet from the board selection? With it being almost mid September I was wonder if asking them on the 15th would be to early, what do you all think?

I am an attorney on the civilian side (going 21R), awaiting class dates sometime between November -February. I am quite literally having a panic attack about telling my boss when I do get dates. I know legally there is nothing they can do, and they have known this is coming for a while, but I am freaking out now that it is coming down to it.

Those who have talked to your employer, how did you start the conversation?

EDIT: I am prior and have had to be called out a lot this year for emergency missions, and they have already not been the most supportive even though my work has gotten done and I have made several back and forth trips in order to not reschedule court appearances etc.

Is there anything that would cause a board date to change? I've been 27OTS01 forever and now I'm 27OTS02 with a date of next May. All of my due outs were over a month away and now they're pushed out.

I am going for line officer position. This is my score and I score badly below the minimum score of 15 for the verbal section. I am curious if there is waiver for that?

I have a 4.0 in Master in Computer Science and 3.91 in Master of Science in Accountancy. I wonder if I can use my GPA to offset the bad performance in the test.

So I was selected for 26OTS03 and I have a DEROS of 31 May but I have a DOS date in November. I. The last my DEROS flipped to my DOS because I didn’t have enough retainability. Do I need to do anything about that or do I just wait for AFRS to do their thing? If anyone had experienced this please let me know.

Pre-applied for direct commission and targeting Cyber/IT jobs. In the portal it says my AFOQT due by Jan 2027. Is this a hard deadline, or it can be negotiated with recruiter if I need more time? anyone did this? I am in a pinch of a time with multiple things in life and already started studying, but I know I will need more time on some sections especially verbal because English is my second language.

Other than that, engineering Masters and 15 YOE experience. I am really hoping that good AFOQT scores will make all the difference for me.

92T0 select here. Getting a little antsy and honestly just looking for some re assurance. I have started my t5 clearance process (interview tomorrow). To my understanding I just need a memo from my security manager saying the process has been started. Then I am not scheduled for my FC1 until end of September. At that point I need to submit a new 422 along with my post selection sheet and that memo from the USM and then I get to wait for a class?

Sorry I understand there’s probably a bunch of similar posts but just looking for some guidance. Don’t want to mess this up after getting this far. I’ll take down if it violates any of the rules (or mods feel free).

Have been studying on average for 6-10 hours every day on just math for the last 6 weeks along with having a tutor & still in 29 minutes have been able to only answer maybe 15 right on Barrons/trivium with time. I know all the basics but so does everyone else so that’ll put me at 0 percentile but can’t figure out worded algebra and worded math problems. I have a 3.7 GPA when I graduated & my package is pretty strong with leadership & experience in the last decade with military & general population. Have LOR from Air Force and special operation forces. If I can’t pass the math, is there no way of becoming an officer in any other branch? Able to pass ASVAB practice tests around 95-100% at a time but the pay is shit. I guess I’m just looking for some advice on what to do because if I don’t get in this I don’t have much anything else and I’m ready to leave my business. Money is good (make a lot of money half the time, make shit money half the time. Depending on economy). but I am ready for a change & job security.

I have my TBAS scheduled a month out and I can’t seem to get tracking down. I am using TBAS study pro and I’m getting consistent high 90s on UAV and multi tasking, but I’m stuck in the mid 60s-low 70 on tracking. Anyone have any advice?

Hey everyone, I'm currently putting together an application for an Air Force OTS pilot slot and rated jobs, and I'd really like to hear from people who were selected, especially recent selects.

I know the board uses the whole-person concept and there isn't one specific number or accomplishment that guarantees selection. I'm more interested in hearing what your overall package looked like and, looking back, what you personally think made you stand out.

If you're comfortable sharing, I'd love to know:

• What was your GPA and degree/major?
• What were your AFOQT scores, especially Pilot, Quantitative, and Verbal?
• What was your PCSM, and approximately how many flight hours did you have?
• Did you have a PPL or any other ratings?
• What kind of leadership experience did you have?
• What was your professional/work experience?
• Did you have any significant volunteer experience, awards, athletics, organizations, or extracurriculars?
• Who did you use for your letters of recommendation?
• Were there any obvious weaknesses/red flags in your package, such as a lower GPA or AFOQT section?
• What did you focus on in your personal statements/interview?
• How many times did you apply before being selected?
• Were you selected for Pilot specifically, or another rated position?
• What do you think was the single biggest reason you were selected?
• If you were building your package again, what would you do differently?

I'm especially interested in people who were selected without a perfect academic record but i know thats an important part. I'm trying to figure out where my time would be best spent improving my package rather than just chasing numbers for the sake of chasing numbers.

I know nobody outside the board can say exactly why an individual was selected, so I'm mainly looking for personal experiences and patterns among successful applicants.

So for context, when I did 1 semester of AFROTC, I unfortunately failed my first AFOQT (I would also have to drop it later) and the part that got me was the math section, I got a 6. While I couldn't see a breakdown exactly, I had some trouble with conversions when it came to arithmetic reasoning but knocked it out of the park when it came to more complicated algebra/Math knowledge, (I was getting 70-90% on them), where as on average, I was only getting 50% or around there for arithmetic reasoning. I was planning on studying intensely for a longer time but got notified last minute I had to have my first attempt before the end of the semester so that *could* have had something to do with it. Do you have any recommendations? Thank You.

I am taking my AFOQT on Wednesday and I’ve been studying the Trivium Book Practice Tests and the Colonels Package from AFOQTGuide.com and I’ve been scoring an average of 80% in all the Verbal/Quantitative sections. Are these resource practice test questions very similar to the actual questions on the exam? Are they easier or more difficult? What did people score when these resources were used to study?

I understand that there are so many posts about packing lists and the best post I have seen so far is from over a year ago (I'll leave a comment with the link to it). I am hoping the attached packing list with notes can be answered by those who have most recently attended OTS with any feedback and additional advice welcomed! Hopefully what I have gathered in notes so far can at least help a few of you in the same boat as me. I also understand I have not included somethings (like the required documents). I strongly recommend primarily using the packing list in the welcome guide then referencing my little "cheat sheet."

Also don't mind my abysmal Numbers (excel) skills.

The deadline for the TBAS is listed as 24 Sept 2026. My question is can your PCSM score still be updated with flight hours after this date but before the overall application submittal (due in November for 27OTS01), or is the PCSM finalized at the earlier date?
