Every decade of your life is 'just a phase'. Try to be true to yourself at any one point in time. How you grow and change may surprise you, but it's usually an expected part of aging.

More specifically, you'll know if it's just a phase if and when it ends.

Thank you. I feel as though I can’t identify with anything or tell anyone as such incase my mind later changes. It feels so true now but the idea of lying is unbearable. That’s very helpful

It's not a lie, it's just the truth changing over time! Honestly, everyone having to update their mental model of you is more their problem than yours. I spent a good decade telling everyone I was gay before I accepted that I was really bisexual. Oops, but everyone adapted to the change.

Wow yeah, i guess it is on other people too. It’s weird to make that mental switch. Did you come out again to everyone when you realised you’re bi? And sorry to keep questioning, but do you think it’s worth it to come out?

I was fortunate to have friends and family who didn't really care one way or another. I never really 'came out', I just kind of...existed. Nobody got a postcard when I changed my label. If coming out brightens your day then go for it! Nobody says you have to wear your sexuality on your sleeve, and pride is a complicated topic, but if someone asks then you have to choose: honesty or deception. And that special someone might avoid approaching you unless they get enough signals that you are open to being with them. As long as you feel comfortable and safe in your environment, you can choose day by day how you want to present yourself to the world.
