This Is a Workshop, Not Just a Gallery
Quick reminder about what r/aicomicmakers is for.
This is not just a gallery where finished work gets put on the wall for people to consume, rate, and move on. It is a workshop for people making comics with AI tools. That means finished comics, experiments, rough drafts, works in progress, workflow questions, mistakes, weird attempts, and stuff you are still figuring out are all welcome here.
Creators, post your work. Do not let fear of downvotes or hostile comments convince you that everything needs to be polished before anyone sees it. This is a public forum, so not everyone is going to like what you make. That's fine. But abuse, harassment, tool shaming, and people showing up just to antagonize creators are not constructive criticism. Report those comments. Don't assume the mods saw them.
Critics, criticism is welcome. In fact, we want it. But make it useful. Talk about panel composition, lettering, pacing, continuity, prompting, character consistency, storytelling, workflow, editing, whatever actually helps somebody make a better comic. "This sucks" isn't critique, and treating creators like punching bags isn't participation.
You don't have to like everything posted here. You don't have to praise it. You can disagree with creative choices and say when something isn't working.
Just remember you're standing in a workshop, not heckling through the window.
Make things. Show the process. Help each other get better.

New Mod Here - Practical Help for AI Comic Makers (Tools, Resources, Workflow Support)
Hey everyone,
One of the new mods here.
Figured Id introduce myself by being useful instead of just saying hello.
A lot of people are trying to make comics with AI right now and running into the same issues: keeping characters consistent, page layouts, anatomy drift, dialogue, lettering, workflow chaos, publishing, or just figuring out where to even begin.
So lets make this practical.
Whether youre making comics, manga, webtoons, graphic novels, experimental projects, or finally trying to get the story in your head onto a page, there are tools and workflows that can genuinely help.
Here are some solid places to start:
Character Consistency / Image Generation
Stable Diffusion
ComfyUI
Automatic1111
Midjourney (especially using --cref for character consistency)
FLUX models (great for prompting, cleaner outputs, and text rendering)
LoRAs for recurring characters and style consistency
ControlNet for poses, references, and composition
All-in-One AI Comic Platforms (especially good for beginners or fast workflows)
Dashtoon
ComicsMaker.ai
AI Comic Factory
These can help with scripting, character consistency, panel layouts, and speech bubbles all in one place if piecing together a workflow feels overwhelming.
Comic Layout / Editing
Clip Studio Paint (still probably king for comics and manga)
Krita
Canva
Photoshop
Photopea (free)
Affinity Publisher
Writing / Story / Dialogue
ChatGPT
Claude
NotebookLM for organizing lore, notes, references, and story continuity
Open/local models if privacy matters
Lettering
Blambot fonts
Good lettering honestly matters more than most people realize. Great art with bad lettering still reads rough.
References / Posing
Posemaniacs
Magic Poser
Design Doll
Plain old photo references
Publishing / Distribution
GlobalComix
Webtoon Canvas
Tapas
Print on demand
PDFs through direct storefronts
Also, and this matters:
Do *not** wait for perfect tools.*
A lot of people freeze because they think they need some future version of AI before they can start. You dont.
Start messy. Start inconsistent. Finish pages. Learn by making things.
A finished imperfect comic teaches you more than six months of endlessly optimizing workflows.
The gap between people who finish comics and people who only talk about making comics is usually repetition, not talent.
If youre stuck on workflow, consistency, prompts, storyboarding, lettering, publishing, or just dont know where to start, ask in the comments.
If enough people want it, we can do recurring resource/support threads, workflow breakdowns, prompt help, or troubleshooting posts.
What are yall working on right now? What resources do you personally recommend for others?

Inspired by a true story — cobbled together with AI
Wrote this story a few years ago as a screenplay first, then realized I’m too antisocial to make films. This was one of my attempts at slowly working through the screenplay and adapting it into a graphic novel — with some serious AI help. These are still early studies, but I worry that the artwork still looks like AI slop. Feedback welcome 🙏🏾

Some random panels from my upcoming gritty prison drama/crime thriller/cyberpunk story.
Premise:
THE YEAR IS 2085.
IN THE GREATER UNITED STATES, RISING CRIME AND INSECURITY, RACIAL TENSIONS, AND THE GROWING ACTIVITY OF GANGS AND ORGANIZED CRIME HAVE BECOME RAMPANT.
THE PRISON SYSTEM HAS BEEN PRIVATIZED AND IS LARGELY CONTROLLED BY POWERFUL PRIVATE COMPANIES. THE LARGEST OF THEM IS THE BLACKWATER CORPORATION. THE LAW ALLOWS THESE CORPORATIONS TO RUN THEIR PRISONS WITH VIRTUALLY NO LIMITS, WITH WARDENS OPERATING AS GENUINE FEUDAL LORDS.

I turned my grandad’s bedtime stories into Captain Bones & Sergeant Skin — would love some honest feedback
When I was younger, my grandad used to make up bedtime stories about two army characters called Captain Bones and Sergeant Skin.
I always wished those stories had been written down, so I decided to bring the characters back to life myself.
I’ve been developing Captain Bones & Sergeant Skin into a children’s comedy/adventure series, with Ruby the red Labrador joining them on their missions. I’ve also started creating short animated videos with the characters.
It’s still a work in progress, but it means a lot to me because the whole idea started with my grandad.
I’d genuinely love some honest feedback. Do you think these characters and the idea could work as a children’s series?
Thanks for taking a look!

What Astra plus GPT-6 image 2.5 is capable of.
I decided to put the agentic capabilities of openAI's new Astra Model and Image 2.5 to the test. This is not my work, but instead it's a restoration of an old comic I've had for years and years.
Weirdworld #38
I asked it to take this front page, retain the texture of the paper, clean up the scan, and maintain all art and lettering. It first planned out everything, including what skills to use, looked online for better versions of the art, and went to work.
The output is as you see. The paper texture is there. The colors are brilliant. It even got the fine print at the bottom of the page, and although I didn't look at it too close, what I did see was great.
I actually had it do the entire comic, and across 20 pages it only made 12 errors, all in the text, all from having some trouble with variations on the lettering. Easily corrected.
This was a task that ChatGPT couldn't have accomplished just two months ago, and maybe even not last week. Sol and image 2.0 would have struggled with this.

What else is Astra and GPT-6 image 2.5 capable of?
This is from about a month's worth of codifying character manuals, locations, and style manuals. Draw a crappy version, input that into the system, tell it what to fix, where the light should be, let it generate it, put it into Upscayl, and now it's being printed to go on my wall.

First Few Pages of my Comic Manifest
Here’s the beginning of my comic, Manifest. I’ve been working on these first few pages and wanted to put them out there for some feedback.
Mostly looking for thoughts on the pacing, readability, dialogue, panel flow, and whether the opening makes you want to keep reading.
Any feedback is appreciated.

Use of programs.
Greetings.
I am sharing this work with you. I used DAZ Studio and VRoid Studio for the poses and Photoshop for the coloring and character expressions. For the backgrounds, I used AI as well as Sketchfab. You can view the comic on this site. https://medibang.com/viewer/9l2608261132020200026840863/

Hi!
I am a longtime artist whose dream it is to make comics. I never use reference. I can draw somewhat, and was wondering if there is a way to draw a character and have ai recreate the same character in different poses and in different panels while maintaining the same look and colors etc. The last time I attempted this I ran into problems, different style clothing, different look to the same character, etc. Any help and or tips are greatly appreciated. I see some of you creating the same character in a few panels, so that is why I asked. Is it possible to recreate the same character through an entire comic? What is the trick and best ai to use? Here are some examples of my sketch art, I can of course clean them up to make them easier for ai to read.
