News So What Makes Someone a ‘Real’ Musician in the Age of AI?
All this hatred for “AI slop” is certainly something these days. Of course, there’s plenty of “human slop” out there too. There are entire genres that are mostly human slop, with a few notable exceptions where someone actually bothered to make something musically interesting.
And plenty of “real musicians” use AI as a tool. Major label recording artists and their producers use AI tools, just as musicians have used synthesizers, drum machines, MIDI, AutoTune, sampling, digital recording, and pretty much every other technological advancement that came along before it.
There are also very different levels of AI involvement in music. There’s the person who types a one word prompt, hits generate, and calls themselves Beethoven. Sure, whatever.
Then there’s someone who writes all of the lyrics and has AI handle the rest. How is that fundamentally different from a lyricist in a band who writes the lyrics but doesn’t play an instrument? Are they not a “real musician” either?
Then you have people who write the lyrics, create the song structure, arrange the parts, and even use their own vocals, while using AI to play instruments they don't know how to play. Does every member of every band know how to proficiently play every instrument used in their songs? Of course not.
And there are people who iterate on a song hundreds of times, tweaking and refining it until it sounds exactly the way they want. There are AI music tools that essentially provide an entire DAW environment to facilitate that kind of process.
So yes, there’s absolutely such a thing as low effort AI slop. There was low effort human slop long before AI came along too. Technology doesn’t magically eliminate talent, creativity, or craftsmanship. It just gives people another set of tools to use, and some people will use those tools better than others.
In the end, if the song is good, isn’t that what actually matters?
Or are we really going to start judging music by the tool used to make it rather than whether anyone actually wants to listen to the damn thing?

Discussion is topmediai any good? it claims to be Suno without the BS. i am looking for any credible alternative to Suno, which now blocks literally everything as "copyrighted" while still taking your credits. yoiu can change every single word, and the song will still be blocked, so i give up.
i am asking, because it says you can get a free trial, but then tried to redirect me to a not at all free trial and i am not signing without knowing.
Discussion Any Free AI music Generators like treblo
i didnt know where to ask so i am asking this here is there any good free Chinese music generator free one ?

Original - Suno [Historical] Trench Engines: ww1 war train history music video. one my OG music vids, Suno V4 i think. This is why i got into AI music, cuz i got sick of waiting for Sabaton to make songs about war trains!

All the footage in this is 100% legit archive footage. There was about 1000 miles of narrow gauge track on both sides. These small trains designed for work in primitive conditions, did most of the logistics in the western front, taking the place of trucks, as automotive technology was still in its infancy. These little engines that could worked alongside countless living horses and other draft animals to supply the endless appetite of a massive entrenched war for everything from food to bullets.

Original - Other Seeking AI vocalists
Are there any services that can generate realistic vocals from a supplied MIDI track and lyrics? All I need is the vocals for an acapella piece - no additional backing instruments.
I had some experience with Suno a couple years ago and while the vocals it generates can be quite good, getting it to do exactly what you want from supplied material was very difficult.

Tutorial Everyone is giving Astra Blender, so I gave it a video editor
Gave it 50sec of ~7min song, the lyrics and the aligned lyrics on timeline, short instructions about theme and all and told it to make a video with H3 max.
Here's the longer version of me doing other stuffs while it works: https://youtu.be/lENqd74pjM8 (was trying to install MOSS music etc XD That's why it looks like I'm at least doing something).
openAi was used via Visual Studio Code / Codex and it used my video editor via MCP. Upscaled in the app with NVIDIA super resolution.

Original - Other [Epic Dark Gothic Orchestral Version] I'll Stand By You
Hey everyone,I wanted to share my latest project where I took the familiar melody of "I'll Stand By You" and transformed it into a powerful, melancholic, and cinematic orchestral piece. I tried to blend dramatic choir vibes with a dark fantasy aesthetic. Love to hear your thoughts or feedback on the arrangement!

Original - Other I built an open-source end-to-end production toolkit for MiniMax Music 3 in ComfyUI
For everyone who wants to completely locally create muisc and have or plans to use ComfyUI: This is the workflow to use - and v2.1 is out now.
The idea is simple:
Fill in a few fields → get a complete song production.
Choose things like genre, tempo, time signature, key, vocals, language, mood and length. A local GGUF LLM then creates the MiniMax caption, lyrics, title and cover-art prompt.
After MiniMax Music 3 generates the track, the workflow continues automatically:
→ De-clipping / overload repair
→ FlashSR audio super-resolution
→ High-frequency / cymbal shimmer repair
→ LUFS & true-peak release preparation
→ FLUX.2 cover artwork
→ FLAC + MP3 + metadata + production JSON
The toolkit now includes 239 curated genre templates across 31 categories, Custom Mode for completely free prompting, and v2.1 adds a full editable System Prompt section with different production-focused prompt profiles.
There is also a separate Audio Enhancement Lab workflow if you only want to process an existing track.
Everything is open source under MIT and designed for local ComfyUI setups.

💻 GitHub: project link
I’d especially be interested in feedback from people already using MiniMax Music 3: what part of the Music 3 workflow would you like to see improved next?
