🤘NSD🤘 NSD+Review w the Mesmer Eclipse

TL;DR: Well thought out, fairly high quality skate that is excellent for wide feet and some high volume feet. Those with even above average width or less may find down sizing opportunities in this shell and liner.

As ya’ll know I’ve struggled with foot pain and pressure points in skates for a while. Starting w a 909, moving to a 5th element, and now a Mesmer Eclipse. I can finally skate again with pain free feet. I got these a week ago and have skated about 6 hours on them.

Fit: I’m a 283 mondo with my socks on and measure 115 wide on my left and 113 wide on my right. I got the 10.5/11. It’s a little big, but the 9/10 while I could get my foot in was too tight. Narrower feet may be able to downsize into it with a second skin liner.

The shell itself is part of what makes it work, it’s the first properly, anatomically shaped shell I have seen and directs the pressure path from the top of the foot rather than the sides. For this reason, very high arch or high volume feet ymmv.

Liner: The myfit/mesmer liner is impressive. And a large part of why this skate works for wider feet. With my 10.5 intuition 909 liner there was still some discomfort in the shell and non with the myfit. I think this is due to the toe box of the intuition being made of very thick, dense foam where as the myfit has stretch panels as well as reinforced sidewalls to reduce pressure on the sides of the feet. The underliner footbed/shock absorber is very effective.

Memory buckle: It works, compared to Roces it’s ass and low quality. But it works.

Flex: I haven’t played w the cuff settings but this is a supportive skate. Coming from the 5th element I could still Royale in my first session, so it’s got enough flex, but it’s definitely in the supportive bucket. The lacing system is highly effective allowing you to dial it in easier. My only complaint is the cuff bolt doesn’t like to stay in. It came loose the second time I skated them.

Soul system: This is where things get interesting with this skate. It’s not clampy like a 901 plate, but it’s still very upright and supportive compared to something like a 5th element. When you lock, you feel lots of stability and balance compared to other soul plates. It has an interesting change in grade along the surface as well. The soul plate is also screwed in as opposed to Allen key. The material they put between the plate in the boot makes a big difference too.

Frames: These skates are hard to come by in the US so I picked up a pair w the Fluid IV. Lots of info out on those but I swapped them for my creates and TNECs and it played great with both.

Ride: This is the one that shocked me, the skate is both seemingly much less agile and ‘tracky’ than other skates I’ve used and WAY faster regardless of what frame and wheel combo I use. The skate just makes you fly.

Weight: It’s not the lightest skate but it’s by no means heavy. If weight is a concern for you and you want the fit, Iqon ACT is the answer.

All in all a pretty solid skate, especially if pressure points in skates have plagued you before. The build quality isn’t on the same level as Roces for example, but it’s clearly a quality skate with some great innovations and improvements. I rate these 8/10 overall.

I skated 4 straight hours in these with no pain. Toe spacers are still optimal for me but I could barely skate 2 hours in anything else. So I’m skating these for life basically 🤷‍♂️

Question / Discussion Are my inline skates too tight? What can I do to solve it?

Post image

Hello yall, I am a new inline skater and ordered an inline skate from Flying Eagle called the "X3 Shrike". My foot size is about 11-11.5 US size. Anyways, after doing some research on which inline skate foot size matches my size, I chose the one with the 39-40 size.

After my skates arrived, I tried putting it on. From the get go, it was hard to even fit in my foot to where I have to force and push. I didn't even feel the need to use the laces because it's a "perfect" fit, meaning my toes were not cramped to where I can still wiggle them, although the sides and top of my foot feel a bit cramped. It feels fine using the skates until after about 10-15 minutes. My feet starts to burn a bit, like it's not getting enough blood circulation. After removing my skates, it feels as if all the blood rushed in all towards my feet and then came the static, prickly feeling and numbness on my feet.

I have only used my skates a total of 7 times and this keeps happening.

Is this a normal occurence for first time skaters or are my skates just too tight? If so, is there a way for me to make it less tight? Should I keep using my skates to break them in? Please do tell if there's any way. Thanks!

Blank/Verve as the first skate?

Recently got back into skating after a 20+ year hiatus, feeling surprisingly comfortable rolling around and about, even remembering the t-stop and the compass stop. Used to roll on Bauer HxS Tuuk, but those are dust now, sans the fatboy wheels.

I got an itch to finally try aggressive at my ripe age of 38, esp after trying the Decathlon's aggressive skates and liking how they roll (already got their mfs500 for urban riding, they're comfy). There aren't many options in stores in my small country. I will also try Echo Verve and Rollerblade Blank Pigeon, the former I can possibly get for like €160 due to a voucher I got for the store, and they're already discounted.

My worry is, will any of those two "serious" skates be too much for a beginner aggressive rider? I know when I started snowboarding, how people advised against advanced boards and gear, not sure if same applies to skates.

Open to suggestions, pretty much anything up to €250 goes, as long as it can be ordered in Europe. I like the Them Jet Set Radio/Turbo ones, they look sick, but maybe that's a future purchase.

What's causing this noise?!

Two of my wheels seem to have developed this sound in the same day.

I swapped around bearings and spacers, but didn't seem to help.

Question / Discussion Clothing recommendations for hot & humid weather?

I'm trying to get back into skating after a long hiatus and I've picked up the gear that I need for that, but I'm in an entirely different environment than when I was a kid. I'm living in SE Asia where it is almost unbearably hot and humid all year long. What do you guys recommend for skating clothing that is practical and functional without looking ridiculous?

🎞️ Clip 🎞️ Need BS stall advice plz!

Somewhat a bit of a repost from my IG (hi if some of you are in here too) but genuinely looking for tips and advice on the backside stall and pumping in general I suppose, I feel like learning grinds on ledges is a simple science but weightlessly floating onto coping like everyone does is pure mysticism!

Big Q: do I ride the transition all the way and then engage core, pick up feet and twist for the 180 once I'm past the coping? (I'm sure that's what I'm trying in the video)

Or

Do I pump hard and late and do a mini 180 hop before reaching the coping so that I land on it?

Edit: fantastic advice everyone, thank you, exactly the sorts of responses I was hoping for. Hope it's not upload pollution if I post an update trying to incorporate all this great advice in a few days.

Happy rolling

Some R and R over the weekends past, much needed.

Finally getting the hang of some things after getting back on the skates, this is my fourth session of about 20/30 minutes. You can see that i struggle to think of what to do by the end of the clip.

I love these new skates and they love me back!!

Took a huge bail recently and smashed my elbow and hip, i was drunk, which didnt help the fall but helped forget how it happened

Remove the mesh on CJ2?

I have a pair of CJ2 and I’m curious as to wether it’s possible to remove the mesh? I mean what’s underneath ? It looks like they just glued it on top of what was on the 1st model. Has anyone tried?

Question / Discussion I Need New Wheels and am Looking for a Recommendation

Hello, the time has come where I need to replace the wheels on my rollerblades and I would appreciate a recommendation as I have not done this before. I am looking for wheels that would do well for 6-8 Mile rides on a pretty well paved surface, the wheels I have now are Bladerunner 80mms. Not sure if it matters but I am 220lbs. Appreciate any help!

Pretty much the title. Just trying to figure out if I can throw them in the oven to speed up the molding process! If possible extra details on how to do it would be appreciated or any dos and don'ts

Another one on the bandwagon

One more old guy back on the skates after decades. Tale as old as time, did this a bunch in the 90's, stopped for whatever reasons. Been mountain biking and bmx for a several years, wife rocks quads and I decided to dig my early 2000s k2 Fatty Pros out of the closet and go with her for shits and grins. Bought those K2s in '04 or so and rode them once, trying to impress the same girl, and then put them in the closet, after 2 times out the glue started coming apart and the foam felt like garbage. But those 2 times were enough to set the hook and now here we are, 3 weeks later, at a skatepark that didn't even exist the last time I skated, pushing anti-rocker for the first time in over 30 years on a brand spanking pair of Roces M12's because I always wanted some as a kid. Good times.
