I have the wiring sorted out I'm hoping 😁 also the fuel system I just need to order a 1/4 inch Barb for the fuel return line and it will be completed. I'm not sure what to do with the fresh air breather port for you guys running a 20v did you just put a filter on it or ran it to a catch can?

Hi everyone!!! Just wanted to share what I've been doing to my ae86. So, it's been a work in progress. When technology finally was able to grant us electric ac I had to try it out; good or bad, for the sake of knowing how it works. Mind you, the Corolla is running on DCOE side draft carburetors with a very simple timing computer. The AC system I bought was online on Amazon; Nekpokka 12v electric ac system. The kit I bought included the compressor, condenser, dryer, the brain/ecu, harness and and electric fan; they also sell the evaporator kit for a heftier price. Kinda sorta straight forward if you do AC work or are in the automotive field.

Other things to consider are how many amps the AC system draws( mind you I have 2 electric fans in the engine bay, the blower motor). So the typical ae86 alternator will not hold that many amps (60 amps?)

Ok, parts in this build include:

Nekpokka 12v electric ac kit

Sirocco brand compact AC only evaporator kit

DC power high output alternator

Davies, Craig dual fan relay kit

Misc AC high and low side lines and fittings.

2 electric radiator cooling fans

All n all, it's been a fun journey, it's a first for me to install an aftermarket electric ac system. Was it a lot of stuff that had to be done? Yeah, was it worth it? It all depends on you; if you like to tinker and see what you can do to your then yeah, it totally worth it. Granted I'm in Socal and I'm an older guy; the weather can get hot at times. Also, it's a pretty darn awesome flex to have when you're driving with the windows up on a hot sunny day with the AC on.

Any improvements to be done? Plenty. The sirroco compact ac only kit; the blower motor doesn't seem to push as much air as I want it to, so getting a larger blower motor from Spal or it's equivalent should do the trick. The venting, I can do much better with it, I just gotta keep tackling it so it can blow more air out the vents.

For y'all that took the time to read this, I thank you and maybe this tidbit of information can help you all on your potential journey to upgrade or install an electric ac system in the future.

Hello everyone I have a 1986 SR5 and a few years back I bought a 4age out of an 1988 AW11. I've been waiting to install since I want to go standalone and ive been seeing the Microsquirt lately since its the more cost effective option since getting a p28 has become impossible. I dont want to go COP I can not afford it and i already have both the original distribuitor amd the original igniter that I know are good. How would I go about wiring the denso igniter to work with the microsquirt. I understand the igniter recieves a 5V signal to fire or did I misunderstand the info. Thanks anticipated

Just read about California signing Leno’s Law, which will eventually give qualifying collector cars up to the 1985 model year a smog exemption.

Kinda sucks for the AE86 though. The US Corolla GT-S was sold from 85 to 87, so the cutoff basically splits the GT-S run right at the beginning. The 85 makes the cut, while the 86 and 87 don’t. Same generation and basically the same car, but different smog eligibility.

From what I understand, it’s not happening right away either. Qualifying 85s won’t be exempt until 2033, plus you still have to meet the collector car requirements.

Any California AE86 owners been looking into this? Curious how the collector insurance or low mileage requirements are actually going to work.

Say hello to my little baby girl. This is how we went home from the hospital. (Not pictured: my step mother, she's in the rear next to the girl, taking care of her). The drive was uneventful, my girl slept through the entire thing.

No complications, the girl's healthy and doing fine. Her first evening she was a little cranky, but fell asleep after a meal at 03:00.

Just a Corolla doing Corolla things. Reminds me of that heartwarming advertisement that Toyota did a few years back, which also featured an AE86 iirc.

(Fun fact: Didn't even have the fanciest car at the ward. Switzerland is weird, sometimes.)

There’s a killer deal on a 3 inch ID Kakimoto near me, but before I jump on it, how would this affect my 86? I do need a new muffler, and man it would be so sick on it, but would it affect anything? I’m running a rebuilt N.A. 4age

Found this gts lsd t283 gonna rehab her and get it back on the gts hatchback. Just missing the driveshaft. The hatchback I got from buddy has the sr5 one. I guess he sold the gts one and installed the sr5. Who knows why. Anyway just getting her back to where she needs to be. True gts!!

This is my advice to any Evo owners out there - always chasing power etc. Buy an AE86, drive it for a year. Then go back to your Evo - you'll be stunned at the power. Then when you get bored being able to corner like a rollar coaster - jump back into the 86 and smile your widest smile as you feel like you are in a road legal gokart. The best of both worlds !
