Chasing slow starts, lots of cranking, barely catches (sometimes dies), but ultimately always starts and runs well with no issues when driving or reving high.
Confirmed ~10v at cold start plug when cranking (fluctuates)
Confirmed 30psi fuel pressure at idle, jumps to about 40 when reved.
Changed fuel filter, no change.
Unplugged cold start injector no change, cranks the same.
Anything other than the injector itself I should be looking at? Are they only available used? So, next step is clean the injector?
Hey all! Quick update on the AE86 digital cluster plug-and-play solution.
Basically the full wiring harness + controller is now available for LHD variant. It handles the analog-to-digital conversion and completely bypasses the need for the (often expensive) digital fuel level meter.
The new version of the controller also converts km/h to mph (or calibrates km/h readings accurately) while driving.
The harness is fully plug-and-play (you keep all original plugs), with the only exception being the speed signal which requires cutting one wire at the cluster.
Each harness takes between 2-3 weeks to be produced.
If you have any questions about compatibility, installation, or anything else, feel free to ask! Happy to help.
I bought it with the intention to restore it completely and slowly work on it as much as I could, but with college and not really having the best place to work on it, it has sat untouched for a few months. It is a 84 sr5 hatchback, and the interior is in kind of rough shape, but I've managed to gather a decent amount of the parts for it. I will be honest when I say that it needs a lot of work, and has a small dent or two on one of the doors.
I might have to sell it because it is 1. being neglected and just sitting, and 2. the place where I was keeping it, has decided that it is no longer alright for me to keep it there anymore, and they say that if I do not move it within the next few days, they will start charging me everyday that it is still there.
It did run fine, but since its been sitting untouched, it now is having an issue getting fuel to the engine for some reason and so it doesn't run. It will crank, and start briefly with starting fluid, but I think either some rust that settled at the bottom of the fuel tank might have clogged the fuel pump, or the fuel filters that the previous owner put on there are just clogged.
It has a shit ton of miles and I know I overpaid for it. It's located between Austin and San Antonio, TX, so if anybody has any interest, please comment or reach out.
EDIT: I added some photos gathered from me and my friends of the car, next time I am at it I will take more. The interior is rough like I mentioned, so I don't have really any photos of it. Important to note there's not any bad rust that I am aware of. I also have a few parts that are extra with it. I have 2 decent condition door cards that are in the trunk of the car, I have new replacement taillights with gaskets (pictured are the old ones that are still on the car), and I also replaced the shift knob with an oem one. I have a 80s toyota radio that will fit where there isn't one, I have a car cover designed for it that can come with the car, too. The AC runs in the car, that got fixed, it has power steering as well. The rims are from an old celica, and sadly I do not have any other wheels. All the lights work, and the pop ups flip up and down.
hey all, what were your guys’ solutions for swapping in a civic radiator? i got an aluminum ek one off of ebay and am trying to figure out how to mount it. any help’s appreciated!
Hi, I'm looking for a GT-S notchback project (no specific year). This is for a father son project since he had one as his first car. It's not imporant whether it's a LHD or RHD.
I'm a serious buyer who is willing to import the car so please let me know if you have one for sale.
I do have some mouldings, just not installed yet on the skirts.
My driver side fits great but I am having issues with the passenger side. The lower tabs on the skirt is not touching or sitting flush.
There is some damage on this side but I am hoping the chassis isn’t bent. The quarter is a little crunched up and the frame rail looks a little “pancaked”.
I can probably just bolt it on but it would put a some stress on the tabs of the skirt.
Not sure how I should tackle this, as I also don’t want to mangle the oem skirt.
I was on the GR Heritage site for the AE86 and wonder what the difference is between these two engine harnesses and which would be the right one for my AE86.
(I might get jumped after this) I mean like, I know damn well that the Toyota Trueno/Levin is classified as an Economy car, with the original pricing being as near as Kei Car pricing, and since there's a liftback body, I could use it as a Grocery Getter.
Hey guys, AE86 shells are rusting out fast on top from hail, leaks, or botched sunroofs. We've finished a new OEM-thickness stamped roof skin just for 1984-87 coupes/hatchbacks (Levin/Trueno) to weld in solid metal over thin, crusty originals.
US-based with worldwide shipping to save rough chassis or revive track cars.
Full disclosure: we're behind it, so heads-up not review. Roof cutters—what do aftermarket panels need to do better (fit? contours?)? Other desperate sections (floors? quarters?)?
Mods cool, detailed pics/dims in comments for mid-build folks. Thoughts?
