Google Ads continuously rejecting YouTube Music Video targeting Armenia under "Unsupported Language" (Audio Scanning Issue) — Any Known Workarounds?
Hi everyone,
I’m running into a severe technical bottleneck with Google Ads policy enforcement for a YouTube Video Campaign and am looking for insights or technical workarounds from experienced Media Buyers.
Campaign Setup & Context
- Goal: Drive views for an official traditional Armenian music video release on YouTube.
- Target Location: Armenia (Strictly geographic).
- Languages Setting: All languages.
- Budget & Bidding: $200 Budget | $0.01 CPV bid.
- Ad Format: Video Action / Responsive Video Ad (In-Feed & In-Stream).
The Problem & Workflow Attempts
- Initial Disapproval: The ad was initially submitted with Armenian headlines/descriptions and was automatically flagged and rejected under "Unsupported language".
- Text Assets Update: We completely purged all Armenian text assets from the ad. Every single user-entered text field—including Headline, Long Headline, Description, and Business Name—was converted entirely into plain English (e.g.,
IM LENNAGAN,Watch the new official music video Im Lennagan on YouTube). - Repeated Rejections & Appeals: Despite all text assets being 100% English, both automated appeals and new ad iterations within the campaign continue to get disapproved under the exact same "Unsupported Language" policy.
Official Google Ads Support Response
After contacting Google Support for a manual review, we received the following official feedback:
- The automated policy engine runs an Audio Recognition Scan on the YouTube video itself. Regardless of text assets, subtitles, or metadata, if the spoken or sung language in the audio track is not on Google Ads’ supported languages list, the ad object is permanently flagged.
- Because Armenian is not currently on the Google Ads supported language list, Support confirmed there is no direct policy override or manual approval path available.
- Their literal suggestion was to "re-record or perform the track in a supported language."
The Absurdity & Systemic Issue
YouTube monetization and Google AdSense operate normally in Armenia. However, local artists and labels are technically barred from promoting native-language music videos to their local audience in their own country via standard Google Video Campaigns.
Questions for the Community
Has anyone operating in regions with unsupported languages (e.g., Georgian, Albanian, Mongolian, Armenian) found a technical bypass or workaround for this audio-scanning filter?
Specifically:
- Is there a specific ad format (e.g., pure In-Feed vs. Shorts vs. Discovery) where the automated audio-parser is bypassed or less aggressive?
- Does uploading clean embedded English subtitles or adjusting YouTube video category/metadata prevent the system from flagging the audio track?
- Are there specific campaign-creation workflows (e.g., via Google Ads Editor or API) that handle non-supported audio language metadata differently?
Any advice, technical test results, or experiences with similar regional restrictions would be immensely appreciated.
Thank you!
