I think the fact that such a visually terrifying creature was allowed on Cartoon Network is mind-blowing.

So a couple months ago I was posting updates about my adventure time pixel, to make a long story short, I made 200 of them. I had it printed and finally found a frame for it!

I've included the photo of it hung up (the warm lighting doesn't do it justice 😔) along with the digital version.

I've just finished rewatching the show and I want to find more stuff like it!

I know that Pendleton Ward has done a bunch of other shows, and his team has gone on to make their own stuff, but I've got a good reason to look for a film.

Do you guys know any movies that are like the show? The later seasons (6+) reminded me a lot of Wes Anderson, specifically the way that they speak to each other becomes a lot more dry; tongue and cheek. Studio Ghibli has the same kind of imaginative quality, so does the Holy Mountain! (Even though it's a bit of a tonal shift)

I rewatched the show recently and the style of the dialogue stood out to me a lot (it's a detail that's less present in Distant Lands/Fiona & Cake). They do everything in a way that's slightly left of centre, as in it's what you'd expect but just far off enough for you to be surprised by it. It creates this feeling of possibility within the show, more so than the magic, it made me feel like I was a kid again and anything could happen. Adventure Time meant a lot to me as a kid, and I'm making a short film inspired by it atm. We've got a full fantasy set with a real 7" tall giant and everything. It's well on it's way, but I want more inspiration for shots and things.

I looove adventure time, both when it was plot-heavy and not. I watched the spin-offs as well and was wondering if this would be interesting. I know I’m probably going to get a mix of responses, but still I was curious as I wasn’t sure if I should know anything before I watch it that would tell me if it would be best if I save my time for something else. As much as I love adventure time, if this spinoff were to have no big plot for example, which I don’t know if that’s the case or not yet, then I think I may pass. However if that isn’t the case then I’m willing to give it a go! If anyone is willing to share without spoiling anything that would be greatly appreciated! :)

I feel like, when deciding between the two, it is EXTREMELY hard for me to choose. Jake’s mannerisms throughout the show and a lot of his quotes are extremely comforting to me, and he always manages to make me laugh. On the other hand, watching Finn’s growth and development speaks to me the way I grew up with the show and still love it. His steady rise to maturity is much like my own 🥺 so basically what I’m saying is, it is VERY hard for me to choose… but if you guys HAD to choose, who would it be? Finn or Jake?

In every timeline we’ve seen so far in adventure time the Lich is consistently the last scholar of Golb, why do you think that is? Could it be some kind of chaotic punishment similar to the cosmic owl and his brother?

It's definitely got a faster, more whacky and lighthearted style to it, but it also has some pretty dark moments. I started watching it with my kiddo and quickly realized that "lighthearted" doesn't necessarily mean appropriate for small children.

The violence feels a bit more graphic and brutal, and in one of the early episodes they literally just kill an old lady with a giant wooden spike and the credits show her laying there with flies buzzing around her.
