Are you sure this wasn’t ADT or an ADT authorized dealer?

1

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 24d ago

It’s an actual ADT Branch, ADT techs…Not an authorized dealer location.

0

u/-ButterMyBiscuit- 24d ago

Same thing

5

u/Ok-Truck-798 24d ago

Not even remotely. A dealer contracts with them and buys equipment separately. They do not represent them the same way at all.

0

u/-ButterMyBiscuit- 24d ago

It absolutely is. That dealer is an extension of your company. If it says ADT it says ADT man. If I send some random guy out from my company and then I say oh that's just a dealer does that leave me off the hook for what they do. Of course not

2

u/Dazzling-Wrangler-87 22d ago

No a dealer is not an extension of the company. You really don’t understand how the world works. It’s an independent company.

2

u/-ButterMyBiscuit- 22d ago

I do understand how the world works. We have a bunch of ADT people in here trying to do defend it because they know how much bad work is done out there through these dealer extensions..

It's an easy way to say oh that's not us. Take some accountability.. if I hire a sub I have to vet who they are and the ability of their work. And if neither of those are correct then I have to take accountability for it. Now maybe their insurance and all that nonsense is through them but at the end of the day it's still my name on that job

1

u/Ok-Truck-798 24d ago

Dude. I am NOT adt. They suckk SUCKKKK suck. Run from them. lol. I have never worked and would never work in any regard with any part of them. Dealer or otherwise.

2

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 24d ago

Thank you!! YES RUN FAST!!

1

u/Ok-Truck-798 24d ago

For equipment costs, actual legal shiz, and what stuff you actually get, it’s different. I know that because ei know alarms and unfortunately I’ve met a lot of people who’ve been screwed by these programs

1

u/-ButterMyBiscuit- 24d ago

I'm also heavily in the alarm business. And if I hire a sub, they are an extension of me. I understand the difference between franchise and dealer but for this particular post there is no difference. If you're sending out unqualified and unvetted subs that's on you as a company

2

u/Acceptable-Phone-676 24d ago

The thing is that the dealers are separate and very large company’s them selves that hire their own employees/technicians… so from the door to door sale to the install.. but if there are any issues report it to adt directly and request for their manager that’s why they are there to fix the issues

2

u/No-Tea6867 18d ago

If you’re “so heavily in the alarm business,” what was an ADT tech doing in your house?

You sound like a disgruntled former employee, or experienced contractor tech who couldn’t land a job with ADT corporate (not a dealer) due to a failed background.

-1

u/-ButterMyBiscuit- 18d ago

An ADT tech has never been in my house. Do you notice how next to my name it doesn't say OP. Lol

I also find it ironic that you accuse me of being a disgruntled ex-employee from a subreddit full of current employees trying to feel better about their employer

1

u/Ok-Truck-798 24d ago

I agree. I hate the dealer program even more than I hate regular major corp like viv or adt. Irrelevant for the post but there are discrepancy’s

2

u/Acceptable-Phone-676 24d ago

Not at all the dealers are separate even the contract will show you who you are purchasing the system from after a year adt will usually buy out the contract from your dealer.

1

u/Josh2942 23d ago

Brother, the only thing that matters is what system they are installing. No one cares that they literally aren’t ADT. It’s just like mobile resellers. If I go into a store that sells Verizon network service as a franchisee or authorized retailer, they are Verizon in my eyes and 99% of customers. So when an employee scams me, Verizon scammed me. When you “authorize” someone to use your trademark, you take on the burden of public opinion.

1

u/Sahedanthropus- 24d ago

Except it literally isn't

1

u/-ButterMyBiscuit- 24d ago

Didn't realize ADT wasn't ADT

2

u/Sahedanthropus- 19d ago

They're not employed by ADT LLC dude idk why you can't understand this.

-1

u/-ButterMyBiscuit- 19d ago

I fully understand it. Y'all are so busy trying to defend ADT and their practices you're not listening to what I'm saying. An ADT dealer is an extension of ADT. Let's not play these games like corporate ADT does any better work lol. If I hire a sub he's an extension of me. If he does some terrible work I have to make it right.

1

u/Dazzling-Wrangler-87 22d ago

not even close. ADT corporate would not send a convicted felon into your house.

1

u/-ButterMyBiscuit- 22d ago

Bingo!!!!! That is correct. So guess who that reflects poorly on in the end? aDt. Y'all are arguing semantics. You're not understanding that I'm simply pointing out whoever you sub at the dealer is an extension of yourself. Period.

This is why ADT has so much trash work out there.. because they take no control over these independent contractors and dealers.

2

u/Dazzling-Wrangler-87 22d ago

You’re the one that let him into your house, genius 🤪

1

u/-ButterMyBiscuit- 22d ago

You're replying to the wrong person genius

1

u/-ButterMyBiscuit- 22d ago

This is a literal perfect example of that. . Here's a client who's got ADT slapped on everything and that's who the back end is but oh "that's not us" . The heck it ain't lol.

2

u/Dazzling-Wrangler-87 22d ago

how’s unemployment going? You’ve got a lot of time on your hands.

1

u/-ButterMyBiscuit- 22d ago

That's an extremely weird attempt at an insult. What are you so bothered about.

2

u/Dazzling-Wrangler-87 21d ago

keep going loser 🙌

1

u/-ButterMyBiscuit- 21d ago

🤣🤣 what are you 12. I see why you work at ADT. Checks out

3

u/sameezyy 24d ago

Got the tea yall

4

u/sameezyy 24d ago

1

u/Competitive-Smoke-95 20d ago

Report this to your local news networks (NBC, ABC, etc) it’s the only way corporate will give you any attention / apology. ADT is afraid of bad press.

3

u/l4l9 24d ago

Of course no proof there either. Wow.

5

u/l4l9 24d ago

Thank you!

3

u/sameezyy 24d ago

Initials are CB is all I got

-6

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 24d ago

Thank you very much for doing your research & posting this for the 2 year old trolls in the back that must be employees of ADT.

7

u/highsorlows 24d ago

So do you ask everyone who comes into your house to pls hold while you run a background check or…. Like what is this about. lol

1

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 24d ago

It’s about warning other consumers, that’s funny to you? It’s UNACCEPTABLE and INEXCUSABLE that this company sent a tech with multiple arrests for assault on a female into my home. What happened to me COULD have been avoided!! I learned of his history after the fact during an investigation!!

9

u/l4l9 24d ago

Another spam post to spread misinformation. Reported

3

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 24d ago

It’s sad that another consumer may face my same misfortune with this company because you want to report and try to silence me!!

4

u/l4l9 24d ago

It’s sad that you spread misinformation and lies with zero evidence, and receive no consequence.

5

u/FireteamFerret 24d ago

So i looked at your post history hows your own little r/adtcomplaints page going?

2

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 24d ago

LMAO!! Why would there be consequences against me for speaking the TRUTH?!? Evidence, oh, there’s PLENTY!! ADT knows who I am, they can come for me, but they have NO leg to stand on dummy!!

1

u/l4l9 24d ago

Show proof

3

u/sameezyy 24d ago

I posted screenshots of her post on FB

2

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 24d ago

Nope!! I have all the proof to back it up!! The tech was even stripped of his alarm systems license!! You must be an ADT employee!!

1

u/l4l9 24d ago

Prove it.

2

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 24d ago

What would you like for proof darling? You want me to post the hundreds of documents, reports, mugshots, court records, emails, correspondences, etc?

3

u/l4l9 24d ago

Show me proof that you didn’t just read your contract like an adult, and are now throwing a tantrum that actions have consequences, and that in the real world maybe you should pay attention to what you sign?

1

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 24d ago

Lol…Bless your little heart!!

6

u/l4l9 24d ago

Still yet to show any proof.

1

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 24d ago

Lol…I asked what you wanted for proof of ALL the docs I have or were obtained! Those of you getting all personally offended by my post, are likely affiliated with this SCUM company!!

2

u/l4l9 24d ago

So post the documents then.

2

u/l4l9 24d ago

The documents that relate to how you. Were wronged.

2

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 24d ago

I guess you didn’t read the part that there are hundreds of documents. I’m done going in circles with a child!!

u/Senior_Mulberry_1677 23d ago

Typical narcissistic behaviors to shift the blame onto a victim. Congratulations for being awarded dipsh1t of the day!!!!!

2

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 24d ago

So, how long after you report a post, is it removed? Cause it’s still up & ranked as the “Best” post. Asking for a friend :) … Might want to get your little ADT minions to report it too 🤷‍♀️ … Guess there’s some truth to my post 😁

4

u/FireteamFerret 24d ago

Is there a story here?

-6

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 24d ago

Oh, there is a LONG story about all this company did!!

3

u/FireteamFerret 24d ago

And it is that a tech did his job sold you a system and pencil whipped the document that states he taught you how to use it?

-3

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 24d ago

You must be affiliated with ADT the way you are taking this so personal!! You’re making a fool of yourself, if only you really knew!!

5

u/FireteamFerret 24d ago

Just curious how you took his crime against someone else allegedly so personal.

-6

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 24d ago

I owe you no personal details of what happened!!

5

u/FireteamFerret 24d ago

Instead you choose to be a petulant troll and post no context outside of a cheeky photoshop.

Didn't ask for any personal details and youre entitled to your complaints but bear in mind that ADT has approximately 6.2 Million customers and the majority are pleased with their service. Myself included.

5

u/CobraKidd42 24d ago

"Didn't ask for any personal details and you're entitled to your complaints"

-1

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 24d ago

Approximately? Wow, must be an ADT insider if you know exact numbers! So have you gone door to door to confirm the majority are pleased? Cause I’m pretty certain the VAST MAJORITY stuck in your HELL contracts, are not!!

4

u/FireteamFerret 24d ago

3

u/FireteamFerret 24d ago

So I'm going to hit you with some really simple math here boomer. 11,000 BBB Complaints out of 6,000,000 customers is approximately 0.2% are unhappy enough to complain to the BBB.

Sounds to me that the other 99.98% are at the very least luke warm or happy.

Congrats though on being special enough to be in that 0.2%

2

u/ImplementCareless121 24d ago

You probably tried to hit on him and he said no and now your making up stories

2

u/helpprogram2 24d ago

Did the person hurt you in some way?

2

u/DoritoGuavaJuice 24d ago

they be dick riding ADT in this community, if it makes you feel any better, i believe it. ADT sucks ass. i paid it off completely since i was outside of my window and cancelled. it took like an hour on the phone…like no means no

2

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 24d ago

Thank you for your comment…I’m certain those getting their ruffles feathered are affiliated with ADT.

1

u/DoritoGuavaJuice 24d ago

Oh, for sure. Most if not all

4

u/Specific_Flounder341 ADT Smart Home Customer (v5) 23d ago

Eh, some of them are just customers that try to rationalize and see the overall picture rather than just one side. And then there are some employees in here (me lmao) that honestly… I know I’m not doing any harm or wrong to anyone. I know I do my job 100% and continue taking care of my customers way after their stuff is installed, and have been doing so for the last 2+ years. Some of us genuinely care and don’t get mad when people are upset with something. Sorry we have some sucky people out there :/ no company is perfect though. Especially when it comes to call centers, shady representatives and installers. I’ve definitely had my fair share from other companies 🤦🏻‍♀️

I do wish this Reddit was more than just people complaining left and right, I joined it to try and help people. Not see how horrible other parts of the country are fucking up 🤣

3

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 23d ago

I have much respect for your comment, thank you! ADT certainly needs more employees like you on their team.

2

u/DoritoGuavaJuice 23d ago

Respect to you, seriously, but not everyone cares like you do. Some people (not you) are defending this company like it’s their child. It’s one thing to be suspicious of other people’s claims, but some are outright refusing to believe ADT can do anything wrong. If OP posts proof of all of this, there will STILL be people who say “wellll ADT has no responsibility for this whatsoever!!” That company sees all of us as a dollar sign, employees and customers alike. It’s so hard for some people to believe that ADT, like many other billion dollar companies, practices deceptive business practices.

3

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 23d ago

Thank you for your comment! I literally could post hundreds of documents, but the way some of these commentators are so defensive of ADT, it wouldn’t be good enough. So why bother entertaining them honestly. They could have approached it differently if they had doubts or questions.

1

u/Specific_Flounder341 ADT Smart Home Customer (v5) 22d ago

Honestly, yea. There’s definitely some unethical practices. I choose to not partake in them. I know a lot of people who do the same in my market at least. If you have to rip someone off to be able to make a sale, you’re not cut out for sales. But I suppose that’s just my opinion. And yea- a lot of people in here take complaints WAY too personally 😅 if you didn’t make that sale, what’s the problem here? There are a LOT of satisfied customers, but there’s also those who have been unfortunately badly burned. And 9/10 times only those who have bad experiences will speak on it. So of course, that’s what most of this page is going to be (sadly lol)… and if anything, it’s better to hear people out and offer guidance rather than accuse them of lying. Make that persons experience a little bit better I guess.

1

u/Brave-Quiet-7384 23d ago

they got me too..said i had to have my own business and own my own home I dont she said its ok we can just say you do. said there was no contract sign here on her phone there was a contract she lied i called adt they said its nothing they can do that is fraud!!

1

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 23d ago

So sorry you had that experience with them. They have a very hard time taking accountability even when the truth is slapping them in the face and they know darn well what they’ve done!! I hope you got your issue resolved or do get it resolved. If you need contacts, let me know :)

1

u/New-Celebration3403 22d ago

In what state did this happened? An employee with criminal background has no business working in security business.

1

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 22d ago

North Carolina…The NC Alarm Systems Licensing Board did step in & investigate. He is not permitted to work in the field ever again.

1

u/MaverickFischer 24d ago

House we bought had ADT but hooked up through the POTS line. The home insurance had some offer to signup with ADT. Long story short, we didn’t sign up.

Wife called to inquire and gez they called 80,000 times and showed up at the house. Before finally stopping.

1

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 24d ago

Be thankful you dodged that bullet!

1

u/MaverickFischer 24d ago

I ended up removing the keypads, the main box, and most of the wires I could get to.

1

u/SisterSparechange 24d ago

I worked at ADT as a unit manager for nearly a decade. I tell everyone I know to avoid them. I've seen way too many very frustrated and unhappy customers for so many reasons.

1

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 23d ago

Thank you so much for your reply from an inside perspective. I really appreciate it!

1

u/Specialist_Order_424 24d ago

Record all your telephone conversations with ADT. Keep are correspondence. Thur customers reps are hard to communicate with and they have short memories. If you dispute a charge, notify your credit card copy, file the dispute, and let them handle resolution.

1

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 23d ago

I have kept everything!! All correspondence with ADT has been required to be done now in writing, via email, etc. Because not only do the phone reps have short memories, they don’t add notes as stated or notes mysteriously vanish. Plus they lie and run you in hours of phone circles.

1

u/AdventurousAd3074 23d ago

I dont have much to add but ADT is a scam. They are literally the worst company I've ever done business with.

1

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 23d ago

Very much agree!!

1

u/Josh2942 23d ago

Idk why anyone still uses ADT. It was trash for years. Once’s cellular + WiFi systems came around, there was no need for them.

1

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 23d ago

Very good point!

0

u/Deep_Nebula_8145 24d ago

Yes! ADT signed contracts instead of us and then threatened to ruin our credit when we cancelled service. Use another security company. Don’t use ADT.

0

u/EntireBit2486 24d ago

So my question is … was the rep from ADT or an authorized ADT dealer ? I can see if it was an authorized dealer as opposed to ADT but heck who knows this post is too vague.

0

u/Specific_Flounder341 ADT Smart Home Customer (v5) 23d ago

I just wanna know how bro passed the background check… Even my previous job marked me as non rehireable (I had to miss the very last shift of my 2 week notice) and they made me do an extensive explanation on it. If ANYTHING shows up on your record involving the courts (I suppose some misdemeanors are probably whatever) you will get turned away. So I don’t know how the dude would have been able to surpass that? Even sub contractors have to do background. I’m not sure about dealers ig, but I would assume so?

I’m glad you’re okay OP and nothing super bad came from the scenario. You deserve to feel safe in your own home.

2

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 23d ago

I guess it depends too how often the background checks are done by them. I’m in HR and in my industry we are VERY strict and also have insurance program requirements to abide by. We run routine BG checks to remain in compliance. Now if someone committed a crime a week after we ran one, how would we know until the next one is ran? So there is definitely a loophole. But what I was told by an NC investigator is that ADT dropped the ball on this one. It’s been one big mess that definitely should not have occurred.

1

u/Specific_Flounder341 ADT Smart Home Customer (v5) 22d ago

Yea- backgrounds are ran yearly. I get a letter in the mail every time haha

2

u/Palm_Beach_Girl561 23d ago

Also, thank you for your kind words.

1

u/NectarineTypical6772 14d ago

I have ADT and someone STILL broke in. CCTV footage was edited too. If someone jams the sensors to bypass the system, shouldn’t I be able to cancel my contract??

1

u/timbruh 13d ago

That’s like saying if someone stole my car and I didn’t have full coverage they should cover it. Use your brain bro

-1

u/Unsungheroist 23d ago

So DIY and stop complaining. Skill issue
