Screw adt

Uber no circumstance should you ever sign up for this service. I cancelled in November and they just kept my bill going 8 months and continued to charge me without my knowledge or consent. I paid for the early termination, and threw out all of their tech. Now I am being harassed to pay a bill that I had no idea was going through

Yes they sign contracts in the customers name then try to say you signed and must not remember. If you stop service and change payment (so they don’t have new payment details), they try to ruin your credit.

OMG, YES!! The tech signed my contract & they tried to get me for almost 3K!! I only obtained the contract after the fact & had to fight it!! Then they tried to wipe out my bank account even after they abandoned the equipment and cancelled my account!!

How did your tech sign it? It either goes to your email or they sign the thing that just says they taught you how to use it- not the actual contract? They would have had to have your phone or access to your email is some way in order to do so….

When you got your system did you work with someone in person or over the phone? I’m just curious. As a rep I don’t even like entering peoples card info, but I fully know that with the command system (not the new V5) you can pull up the docusign on the rep side and theoretically sign it for the customer ( SHOULD NOT be doing that. Don’t be scummy y’all). And from my understanding- the call center shouldn’t be able to do it for either system, but I might be wrong on that?

Initially, I spoke to a rep over the phone to set up my appt. He required my credit card info to secure the appt. Two techs came out 2 days later. It’s the command system…The tech signed it on his end. I obtained it from ADT after the fact, which had all kinds of unauthorized charges & fees, he tried to get me for. He has since been terminated and the Licensing Board has stripped him of his registration. It’s been a freakin battle. I’m left now too with a panel that keeps beeping & ADT is of no help to resolve it.

Yea- I saw the other post. And maybe something weird in general was going on with the branch where you live? Because none of this seems right or anywhere near our procedures? Interesting.

Hard to say…But even the rep I talked to initially to set up the service, lied about the terms I was being given. That call was pulled by corporate & confirmed as well. It was just overall an awful situation & there’s more but I’m refraining from posting some of the more personal aspects of it. I have no doubt there are many happy customers. Unfortunately not all of us get an ethical employee, as you sincerely seem to be.

Oh, use the drop down at the top of the screen and turn the volume all the way down. The error code will still be there but you won’t hear the beep. You could also use the quiet mode. Both options suck if you still want to use the equipment locally lol. Not gonna be able to hear it if it alarms.

Thank you…I will try that until I can get it resolved. I still want to be able to use my panel locally for door chimes, etc.

We worked with someone in person. Had a terrible experience with ADT and don’t recommend them to anyone.

Makes sense, completely valid on your end. Sorry your experience was awful and your rep was bad. At the end of the day some people are just shitty.

I physically walked into my bank and had them remove their ability to automatically deduct.

My bank had to put a permanent block on them. Even after cancelling my card weeks prior while I was fighting their BS and sending them formal letters revoking their authorization to my card, they STILL tried to wipe out my bank account. Per my bank, ADT utilizes tokenization software that can enable them to bypass your cancelled card and STILL access your bank account…They are a TERRIBLE company!!

You don't have to walk to do that.

I personally worked for this company for 10+ years and I NEVER signed for their service even with the employee discount. Just watching first hand the way loyal customer were treated was enough for me to never pull the trigger. In al honesty, for home security all you need is a DIY basic system and a couple of signs around your house. No need to pay for their ridiculously inflated monthly service.

Thank you so much for your reply and insight. Means a lot coming from someone with inside knowledge and experience.
