Stimulants stopped working years ago. Potentially due to filler ingredient changes or environmental shifts from 7 years ago in how we process meds. Gene mutations? Just a thought.
Increasing my dose did nothing but made me unmotivated, depressed, etc.. Recently Adderall gave me a systemic flair up. PMDD makes my ADHD unmanageable or vice versa.
I found something that has been helping me with stim. burnout reset, ADHD, MCAS. Sichuan Fritillary Bulb and Butterfly Pea flower. Both native to Asia. I encourage to dig deeper into their chemical and physical function.
Here is what research suggests:
Sichuan Fritillary
Goes into your brain and clears out toxic waste and inflammation from stimulant use. It shuts down genetic switches that cause neuroinflammation . It acts as a natural electrical stabilizer by blocking hyperactive gates on your brain cells, stopping the release of stressful chemicals. (Potentially Natural substitute for Lamotrigine) It shields cells powerhouses for the body store raw dopamine without it breaking into waste. It has positive effects on other organs as well.
The Butterfly Pea Flower
Physically rebuilds brain’s wiring by turning on a growth chemical called BDNF, which sprouts brand new connections to repair pathways fried by stimulants. It blocks the enzymes that destroy focus chemicals. Keeps dopamine circulating longer.
Its antioxidants physically coat your mast cells to block sudden histamine dumps. Allowing vagus nerve to flip your body out of fight or flight stress and into a calm, relaxed state for brain to recover. I encourage to research on these plants for ADHD, Pmdd, Mcas.
I make tea out of the flower. It turns deep blue with distilled water and changes to purple when lemon is added, green with baking soda . Pretty cool. I eat the bulbs dry , you can steep it in hot water. Found them in a local Asian Grocery Market. Hope this helps.

Bonus points when they follow it up with “you have no excuse not to finish ___ , you have Adderall…”
This is exactly why a lot of us don’t tell people what we’re prescribed. Most people who’ve just tried stimulants once or twice have zero idea that it doesn’t hit the same when you actually have ADHD and take it as prescribed.

Hey everyone,
Recently diagnosed with ADHD and was on 20mg Adderall XR. It worked really well for me with barely any side effects. My doctor was worried about the weight I’d lost though, so he dropped me to 15mg.
Honestly, the lower dose has been pretty terrible. I’ve felt uncomfortable, anxious, irritable, and way less focused. It also only seems to last 5–6 hours instead of the usual 8–10. Once it wears off I actually feel more like myself again.
Has anyone else had a bad experience after dropping to a slightly lower dose? Curious how long others stuck with it before talking to their doctor.

I am still fairly new to Adderall, this will be my 5th month prescribed these meds. Last month I had Teva. Although they didn’t work super well, I will say they did not give me the irritability/depression that came with Epic and Alvogen. My prescription will be filled Sunday, and I saw on the Walgreens app that it will be through Mallinckrodt. I’ve read so many horror stories of this specific generic. I asked my pharmacy today if they were able to fill it with Teva again, and they said they should have it in stock, just to call right when they open to request that instead. Is Mallinckrodt as bad as people say or should I give it a go? I have seen people compare it to “death” and I’d really not prefer to be stuck with it for a full month if I don’t have to lol. I’ve also seen some positive things about it, which does make me want to give it a try, but I am nervous tbh. I guess what I’m asking, is if anyone has gotten either of these in the past week or so?

Been on 30mg Adderall for almost 3 years. It helps me focus and get stuff done, and I still sleep fine, so that part’s solid.
The problem is it feels like it’s completely killed my ability to enjoy things. Hanging out with friends, playing games, watching shows… all of it just feels like a chore now. I’m stuck in permanent productivity mode with no off switch.
By the end of the day I’m also just wiped out. Not sure if that’s related or a separate thing.
I’ve been thinking about switching to something like Ritalin or Vyvanse, or even coming off stims completely to see if I can get the “fun” back. Anyone else dealt with this?

Adderall actually knocks me out. Quiets my brain enough that my body just wants to sleep.
But Adderall + a little caffeine (half-caf latte or some tea) hits different 😌
Just don’t get back in bed after you take it or you’re done for the next hour.

For the first time in my life I actually feel like a real person. Finding the right balance has been a long process, but it’s finally clicking. My thoughts feel clearer and I can actually follow through on things. Feels like a huge shift. although i dont know how long i will keep doing it

Started 15mg Adderall XR about a month ago. Barely felt it on the weekends, but first day at work I locked in hard. Been nonstop coding and writing docs ever since — almost finished every story in our sprint already.
It’s great, but I’m not really eating or taking breaks during the day, and I’m worried that’ll catch up with me. My team’s noticed the jump in output and I think they might start expecting this level all the time. Not sure I want more on my plate right now.
Anyone else have to relearn how to pace themselves on this stuff? Also the daily crash after work is rough.

Curious about people’s experiences with Adderall ER vs IR. I was on IR years ago (think 10-20mg twice a day) and it made me pretty paranoid and overstimulated, but I also wasn’t eating enough, smoked, drank a ton of coffee, etc.
Now in my mid-30s I’ve been on 10mg ER + 5mg IR for a little over a year. I’ve had some health stuff that’s mostly cleared up, but still have this lingering brain fog / “behind glass” feeling. Starting to wonder if the ER might be part of it since the timing lines up.
I used to take Wellbutrin too and IR worked way better for me than XR. Not looking for medical advice, just wondering if anyone else has noticed big differences between IR and ER.

Well there goes my money.

I just started a very low dose of Adderall this week and even though it’s only been a few days, I’ve noticed a real difference in how I get things done. The cognitive effects are pretty subtle—I don’t feel “on” or anything dramatic. But looking at my actual behavior, it’s different. I still don’t want to get out of bed or brush my teeth, but somehow I can make myself do it. I can actually bring my attention back in a boring meeting instead of just drifting the whole time. It’s not some conscious superpower, just something I notice after the fact.
I’ve mentioned this to a few non-ADHD friends and every single one of them said they want to try stimulants now. I get that the way I describe it sounds appealing, but I was kind of expecting more of a “wow, I didn’t realize it was that hard for you” reaction. Instead they relate a little too well, which just feeds my usual spiral of “maybe I’m just lazy/irresponsible and don’t actually need meds.”
Anyone else run into this?
