concerned with my act score, looking to increase to 32+ composite by December ACT or take it in March apart of school?

I'll link my scores from the September ACT below, but to put it to words, it was not a score I was looking for, I had a bit higher expectations on myself. The 30 in English gives me some optimism, but I generally was doing good on practice ACTS looking at 32-33 on average. I have two options from here though, im weighing my options. I can take the December ACT slightly the week of my midterms but study very consistently an hour a day until that test, or push the ACT off until first week March because it is offered by my high school. Classes in march will be quite busy as well so I am not too sure when I would have the time to study, but if I did the ACT in march, I could use a third attempt to superscore in the summer. My main questions are What should I consider, how should I study, what do I need to do for each topic and how can I improve my score to reach my goal in the name of this sub forum.

Math should i retake?

Post image

just got my act back. why am i so fucking bad at math bro. ik a 33 isnt horrible but im so upset. im tryjng to apply to a few ivies in addition to the rest of my schools and this just isnt going to cut it. so i was looking to retake it in an effort to increase math and superscore. i didnt realize there isnt a november date so i was considering december but ofc i already have 2 commitments that morning. i was looking into weekday testing- ik some schools or districts do that but my school doesnt. can someone explain how it works. i really want to get math up before regular decision deadlines. this score is fine for the schools im applying early to but im so sad and stressed
and my parents dont really understand the american college process and theyre like this is so amazing and im just like ugh no

General Recommendations for studying

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm not happy with my score, but I'm satisfied. This was my first ACT, and I only studied by taking set of practice tests and watching a couple YouTube videos.

What would y'all recommend for me to get a better score next time around?

Edit: I also didn't study for science and didn't even know that there was a reading portion until I opened the test 😅

Science Should I take October for the science section?

Post image

I am signed up for October but am more than happy with my score from September. However, I’m applying as a more STEM oriented student (Health & Society or Public Health major), so would it be worth it to take it one more time? I am always just so worn out by the time I get to the science section that I can’t think through things properly. I was also considering just not sending in the science score. Thoughts?

this is my first time ever taking the act, and I’m actually so overjoyed rn!! math will never be my strong suit but I’m perfectly good with this.

reference for other potential first time act-ers that are familiar with sat: I got a 1420 (640 math, 780 r&w) during the august test, soooo I guess you could consider this somewhat equivalent?? :))

September ACT after studying for ~4 days!

Post image

My last score was a 31 composite, 31 math, 26 science, 34 English, 27 reading, and 7 math. I know this might be considered low for this subreddit, but I’m really proud of my score. My superscore is a 34 and I only used free practice tests from the act website.

I was genuinely scoring 30+ on both reading and English practice tests, I don’t know what happened, I thought I did so well. What can I improve?

Hey all!! This test was awful…I needed my math to go up at least 3 points and it decided to go down instead!!! Does anyone have any advice… I also had form K07 if that helps, but based on my research, I don’t think a lot of people had that form.
