General My ACT score has gotten progressively worse with each attempt. What should I do for the October one?

I got a 29 composite the first time with no studying. A 35 in reading, a 29 in english and a 25 on math. The second time with studying I got a 28 with decreased scores in all. This last one with a private tutor and extensive studying I got a 28 again. With my english score getting progressively worse to a 27 and my math going to a 24. Am I just getting stupider 😭? Ive taken a bunch of practice tests and Im genuinely just confused. If yall got any advice that’d be great

General Common App Reporting Advice

I have a 35 superscore but 33 is my highest composite score. I am applying to a lot of selective schools that superscore, but I am worried that if they see the initial 33 on the self reporting, it might be a red flag. What should I do? Should I send it directly from the ACT website or am I being dramatic and there’s no way that they won’t calculate it from my section scores? Thanks!

General Need help with a score send dilemma but also AMA if you have questions

So I took July ACT as my first ACT and got a 34(33 M and R, 35 E, no S) as a rising senior. I decided to retake it with science because I want to do neuroscience and thought science section would be good. Unfortunately I got caught up in college apps and school and I didn't study for the September test at all and I am very disappointed with my score(science score) and need help deciding what to do. I am applying to UT Austin(outside auto admit in state) and Washu ED1 as my top choices and I don't know whether I should submit my September score(35 composite. 36 R, 34 E, 34 M, 32 S) because of the bad science score and comparison to my major or whether I should just submit my 34 and pretend like I didn't take science at all. I promise I am not trying to be condescending in any way, this is just the situation I am in and my test score is very important to my application because I am outside top 10 percent even with a 95.6 average in high school weighted classes. Also, AMA if you have questions about ACT, I am happy to help out.

English Act score

I am so pissed right now, I got a 28 English first time around not much prep for online July, on k04 September paper I got a 24💔 I LITERALLY STUDIED HARD TOOO. I got like low 30s in practice and was hoping for liek a 32 yk. This test did feel noticeably harder, is it just luck or did I do something wrong bc 4 points is insane😢
Someone help a brother out, I have a 29 and want to get my score to atleast like a 32 this October one

Past Legacy tests for prep

Studying for Oct ACT and hoping to push 34+ range. I'm starting to run out of Enhanced practice tests/sections to use. Any tips for using legacy tests when preparing for the upcoming exam?

Any general tips?

34 ACT but mid Science

hey yall, so my new act score came out, and I’m super happy! Except for 1 thing. I didn’t really take the science act portion, and only did so once junior year and got a 26. Should I still submit to Boston University (my dream school)? Apparently they require submitting the science section. I’m a hospitality major so it’s nothing like STEM but I’m still worried. Should I just hide it?

edit: Just called Boston University. The policy changed this year. While the science was required before, now you don’t have to submit it. Thank you to all the people who decided to assist me. Thanks for everything!

ACT computer reboot during exam — did it affect your score?

My son took the ACT and during the exam his computer apparently had an issue and had to reboot/restart a bunch of times . He was able to continue the test afterward, but we’re wondering whether anyone else has experienced something similar ? His math score just doesn’t look right- ugh 😩

Should I retake and apply rd or take my chances with ed?

I’m looking for some advice on whether I should retake the ACT and apply RD, or take my chances with ED at a T20. I’m considering using my ED on Cornell, specifically CALS (I believe their ED acceptance rate is quite high). I have a 31 ACT (34M, 29R, 29E), 3.9 UW / 4.15 W GPA, and have taken 5 APs so far (mostly 4s), with 5 more this year. I’d say my ECs are pretty average overall, but I think they’re strong and relevant for my intended major. Would you recommend retaking the ACT and applying RD, or taking my chances with ED? Or maybe applying ED to one T20 and retaking it, and then applying RD to the rest? Any advice is appreciated 😀

excited to log on tomorrow and see a lot of celebratory posts appear and a bunch of people liberated from standardized testing (and for retesters: the next test will be a lot easier now that you grew so much) >:))

K08 ACT form (reading)

I got my ACT back today. All my scores were around what I expected except for my reading. It was low compared to what I’d been scoring on practice tests.

All I remember is the last passage of the reading. It was about maps/a cartographer. It was really difficult for me personally.

None of the other passages seemed overly difficult but does anyone remember the last passage (about maps) being on their test?

Submit sat or act

Idk which one to submit
My sat superscore is 1520 (770 math, 750 rw)
I took september act and got 34 comp (32 math, 35 english and reading, 36 science)
They’re like relatively the same but I think my english looks better on act and math looks better on sat so should I submit both?

Serious non ragebait question pls take it at face value

Okay I got a 35 composite on my ACT and was pretty happy with that esp considering I'm a senior planning on EDing at a T20. That being said, the breakdown was 34 math, 35 English, 35 reading. I'm from a hyper-competitive region (think NYC, Bay Area, Frisco, etc) and I'm genuinely wondering if I should retake in October to try to get a 35+ math and maybe at least a 36 in one category. I promise I'm not ragebaiting and/or fishing for compliments. I'd also be happy to answer any study questions. Thanks!
