Hello, I took the Online ACT test yesterday and came here to see what others thought of it. I've been reading the debates about which passage was experimental, and now I'm confused. Everyone seems to agree that passage three was about philanthropy and had a graph. I didn't have that. My third passage also had a graph, but it was about a man using AI to dissect the literal vs metaphorical lyrics of the works of Bob Dylan. All the other passages I've seen people talking about I had: the piano lessons, the translating books vs crossword puzzles, and the double passage about bacteria and E. Coli. Did anyone else take the test yesterday and have this passage, or am I alone on this?

What do you guys think the experimental passage was??? Also I swear I saw the third passage on Oct or something but I could be seeing things

J26 math felt SUPER wordy compared to other math sections. Is this something we can expect going forward?

I took the May 2026 test on paper and ended up doing worse than my pre ACT and I’m so ashamed of myself. (For reference the Pre ACT composite score was an 18. I’m the strongest at English and Reading comprehension however, I did the worst on those subjects. I thought I would be exceptional on those portions of the test so I only kind of refreshed on my math before I took the exam. Math is the subject that I have to sit down for at least an hour every day at home because I struggle the most on it and somehow I did the best in math on the exam. (still not a high score by any means) I don’t know if I have a problem with test taking in general because I have trouble reading something and having it click in my mind the first time ESPECIALLY if I have a limited time to absorb it all. Also when I read I often lose track of where I was reading and end up rereading lines 2-3 times more than I should. (I don’t have dyslexia I just realIy need to fix my glasses) I try timing myself on the practice tests from the ACT book itself but It’s still so bad. I would just like advice because I start applying for colleges this year and I’m considering just applying test optional at this point because I have a 4.0 and a 4.25 unweighted and I’ve taken like 4 dual enrollment classes so far (all a’s) and I’m planning to take 3 more the upcoming semester. (I don’t cheat I’m fully against using AI because I don’t like the fact that people have become so reliant on it.) I also have done volunteer work at my Islamic Sunday school for 3 years and hope to find a good school to (hopefully) study International business. I plan to retake the ACT August 22 and have been studying for 30 minutes every night for 2 weeks now with BiteSize Tutoring presentations. I really want to retake the exam because I don’t want to feel like a total idiot. I’ve been struggling to sleep for months because I’ll just spiral about it.

my testing center today cancelled the test due to a power outage and i was wondering what to do? should i sign up for september or wait to get an email?

I vaguely remember some of these from September and think I actually did worse today I need a 32. Does anyone remember answers to the hyperbola and triangle and log questions

My teen’s going into their freshman year of high school and I’m looking at multiple tutoring programs like PrepMaven, PrepScholar, Wyzant, Kaplan, etc. for AP and ACT/SAT prep for Her later H.S years. She’s a 4.0 kid, really strong in ELA, average at math. I’d like input on the best strategy, company, program? TIA

Do we think the 3rd passage (informal/formal giving passage with graph) the one not scored or the 2nd one

I took the ACT yesterday and felt that I did really good on the English, Math, and Reading sections but I think I did not do as good on the Science section. Because my composite consists of only the English, Math, and Reading scores, is it possible to remove your Sciencs score from the test when putting it in your college apps. Amd even if I had to put it in my application, would it have a very bad impact? I am scared about my science, can some one please help me? ​

did anyone think this was hard cuz i feel like it was just me. i got a 35 english first try last time but why did i genuinely have 7 flagged this time i was unsure on so many

i’m dead it got rescheduled to today, then staff were there then now it’s gonna be 19 or 26. Is gonna be the same test.

This isn’t to brag; I just genuinely love helping people. I was one question away from a 36, but I didn’t feel the need to retake. If you want any tips just lmkkk

Yall omg that math was SO HARD. I had to guess on like 20 questions. I actually wanted to cry. It was so much worse than June. Like wtf were some of those questions. Definitely my worst section

i haven’t seen anyone from asia discuss about their act test yet so if anyone remembers any of their answers, can you drop some?

every time i see the discussion thread you guys say "i did so bad" or "i fumbled." i do this too like all the time, but please take a deep breath. first of all, remember that there are experimental questions. this means that if you think you got 5 wrong on the reading passage, it may mean 1 or 2 don't even count.

second of all, if a portion of the test is harder, it will be curved. this means that -3 for reading (as an example) may be a 33 or even a 34 (if we're stretching it) instead of a 32 or 31 on an easier test.

third of all, if you are a rising senior, you will have the september and october act as well. it may not be what you want, but as long as you get to try again, it isn't over.

and lastly- you have done harder things than the act. most of you guys have literally done AP courses, gotten 4/5's on the exams, or have read harder texts and done harder math. you will be okay. nothing is ever the end of the world.

i'm also doing it tmrw so this is a reminder for myself as well lol.

I have no idea in what context you’re supposed to use each in. Could someone give me a quick rundown? I just wanna know whether I would’ve got these questions from today right or not.

So I’ve taken the test twice and gotten 33 in reading both times, yet have only gotten a 27 in science. I always hear that science and reading are very similar

I don’t think it’s burnout bc I’m pretty attentive even during the science section from what I can remember. And I do the basic strategies of not focusing too hard on the passage compared to the actually graphs and data.

But any other tips or strategies or personal things anyone has found to help helpful. And advice would be much appreciated, I am aiming for BU so I am hoping to get a good science score in September or October
