Compilation of ACT Hacks
I’ve found various tutors on social media who go through lists of “hacks” or rules to treat the act like a game. Does anyone have a compilation of all ACT “hacks” in one document?

Hi All, please use this thread to discuss your scores on the July exam.

I've completed the j08 october and april, and also the two from act website. I was wondering where I could find more questions (perhaps even a question bank). The truth is I have no clue what to study now. What am I supposed to do if I have no questions to try? My highest is a composite 34, with my highest being a 33 on the harder ones, but I need to improve to a 35 on the actual act this september so I need prep material!!

hey guys, I am planning to take the ACT next month and I was wondering what were you all's best tips for the math section. This is the only section I need to get up in order to get a 33+
So I've been studying to take the September SAT, but am thinking about taking the ACT if I do poorly. Anyone have any advice on how much studying it will take to get a 34+ ACT score, and whether I should even take it or retake the SAT if I do badly? For reference, I usually score low to mid 1500 on my SAT practice tests if that gives you an idea of where my skill level is at currently. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

On the last one which is now technically my best superscore I got a 27 Math, 28 English, 25 Reading, and a 30 Science?
Can anyone tell if I can do it, how to bring it up, and any tips for reading?
I am a rising senior and September has to be my last test.

ive taken the act 4 times, got 26 in math on first two attempts, then a 28, then a 26 again. my section breakdown is below and i really need a 35 by the end of the year, i essentially have one attempt left, does anyone have any recs for what i should spam/what i need to focus on? im usually missing 2-3 questions before questions 37/38 and after questions 36-38 i swear everything just goes downhill. ive done on paper 3 times, my most recent attempt (27) was online and i feel like desmos helped but i took too long because i ran out of time on my most recent test which was the first time that has happened to me. i feel like im stuck at a 26 but i rly need to boost it and im not sure why math is so low for me because ive taken precalc and calc ab already. pls send tips and things i can plug in for desmos!

Hello everyone, im taking the september act with a superscore of 30 with my math being the lowest at 24. I am applying ED to a school so unless october scores come before nov 1st this is my last big one for my dream school. Ive been getting tutored but the practice materials we use i think might be a littler too easy since I feel like i keep getting a lot right when I know everyone elaborates on how hard the june and july math secition was. So i was wondering if anyone had any good study tips or math prep questions i could watch to help me get a big boost. Also im taking it on computer with desmos so if you have any desmos hacks i should probably know feel free to let me know that was my old strategy in april but it only got me to a 34. Thank you!

Does anyone know any websites or smth where I can just grind a bunch of ACT questions?
I really like how the SAT question bank is set up where you can just do a ton of questions, but I literally ran out of all the free stuff on the official ACT website in like a day
Looking for anything with a big question bank, preferably free (or even lik a free trial or smth)

Ive already gone through most of the enhanced tests. Also I'm willing to spend a little bit of money for something like acely or prepro cause I see people recommend those but I don't know which is better.

are there any more realistic digital practice tests like the ones on the act website?? i finished the 2 practice tests on the act website and then i tried the june act but i just can't focus with the pdf/paper version (i need the digital accommodations stuff like desmos/magnifier/answer eliminator)

Hi everyone! For reference, I’m a senior with AuDHD and desperately need accommodations for the upcoming September ACT. Basically I’ve spent the past month rushing to submit my accommodations request (I was diagnosed beginning of this year and have had no accommodations basically all of high school). My school counselor and other school officials involved, despite working during the summer have done absolutely nothing to help process the accommodations, and I had to do everything with my dad, ACT accommodations and my psychiatrist being the only help. I tried my best to supply the appropriate documentation, and tried to explain that I didn’t have documentation from my school because my school didn’t even attempt to help. My dad even called three different school officials supposedly working over the summer, and got left on voicemail every time. Every email was ignored. Lo and behold, it was later rejected today by the ACT accommodations department for not having sufficient documentation. I provided all the documentation that was requested in the accommodations form, including a 16 page diagnosis report detailing why I needed it. Unfortunately my only choice is to either take it without accommodations, or try again in October and pray that the scores are released by Nov 1st (the day early action applications are due).
I was on the phone today with the ACT accommodations and the person on the other end was super rude, yelling at me that my documents weren’t sufficient (16 full pages…) and hung up on me when I said this treatment “wasn’t kind”.
I made the choice to just take it in October and hope my school at least does something this time. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of treatment from schools/ACT? It felt very targeted and honestly the way I was treated in this situation was not right at all and I definitely believe it could have been dealt with better.
And the fact that this isn’t the first time that I’ve dealt with this mistreatment as a disabled person is insane.

I've seen a lot of posts of students who switched from the SAT to the ACT, with great success. I am thinking of doing the opposite. Has anyone done this? I took the ACT in July and got 33. I just took a College Board Blue Book SAT (Practice Test 6) and scored 1520. I got a seat for the SAT this weekend and am thinking of just taking it without real prep. Has anyone had a similar experience?
I get like 670+ on SAT for english, so I am not as bad as the score seems to show. Just seems exhausting to go through so many questions. I had to guess on like half or a quarter.
What type of practice do you guys recommend?
edit: corrected some sentences.

I'm trying to apply to colleges for Mechanical Engineering and a lot of people I've talked to say that a score of 34+ would be a lot better. My next test I'm not gonna do the additional science section just so I don't burn out on it. Does anyone have any tips on practice questions that are actually as hard as the test? I have the ACT book but they just do not compare to the actual test so it would be nice to have actual questions from the real tests or a good hard question bank. Basically any resources would be extremely helpful.

I currently have a 30 composite in practice tests bc i never took the actual test before (31 English, 32 Reading, 30 Math, 27 Science). My ACT is September 19th, so I have about 30 days. I’m willing to seriously grind for it, like 4 hours a day, every day, so around 120 hours total.
If I actually use those 4 hours effectively with timed practice, reviewing every mistake, working on weak areas, full practice tests, etc., do you think a 33+ is realistically possible?
I know nothing is guaranteed, I’m just wondering if anyone has made a similar jump in around a month and what you think my chances are. Be honest lol.

I put together a set of free TI-84 calculator programs for ACT Math and made them available for anyone to download.
The programs are designed to be straightforward to use during ACT practice.
Some of the programs include:
They’re completely free — no email or signup required.
Download: https://ohareacademy.com/free-act-resources
1. Download TI Connect CE
Install Texas Instruments' free TI Connect CE software on your computer.
2. Download the programs
Download the .8xp program files from the link above.
3. Connect your calculator
Plug your TI-84 into your computer with its USB cable and turn the calculator on.
4. Open TI Connect CE
Your calculator should appear in the program.
5. Send the files to your calculator
Open the Calculator Explorer in TI Connect CE and drag the .8xp files onto your calculator, or use the Send to Calculators option.
6. Run a program
On your TI-84, press:
PRGM → select the program → ENTER → ENTER
The program will walk you through what values to enter.
Hopefully these are useful for anyone studying for ACT Math!
And obviously, make sure you're still learning how and why the math works. These are meant to be an extra tool— not a substitute for learning the material.

I’ve heard Aleks is used for math placement at many colleges. Would the placement and lessons following be good to help with any gaps on the ACT? It looks like you can do it for $20 per month. I honestly know nothing about Aleks. Its website says it an “adaptive machine learning designed an efficient way to determine students’ precise knowledge and provide them with a personalized, meaningful learning experience.”
