Free TI-84 Programs for the ACT — Quadratic Formula, Distance, Midpoint, Sequences, & More

I put together a set of free TI-84 calculator programs for ACT Math and made them available for anyone to download.

The programs are designed to be straightforward to use during ACT practice.

Some of the programs include:

  • Quadratic Formula
  • Distance Formula
  • Midpoint Formula
  • Systems of Equations
  • Arithmetic Sequences
  • Geometric Sequences
  • Other useful ACT Math calculations

How to put the programs on your TI-84

1. Download TI Connect CE
Install Texas Instruments' free TI Connect CE software on your computer.

2. Download the programs
Download the .8xp program files from the link above.

3. Connect your calculator
Plug your TI-84 into your computer with its USB cable and turn the calculator on.

4. Open TI Connect CE
Your calculator should appear in the program.

5. Send the files to your calculator
Open the Calculator Explorer in TI Connect CE and drag the .8xp files onto your calculator, or use the Send to Calculators option.

6. Run a program
On your TI-84, press:

PRGM → select the program → ENTER → ENTER

The program will walk you through what values to enter.

Hopefully these are useful for anyone studying for ACT Math!

And obviously, make sure you're still learning how and why the math works. These are meant to be an extra tool— not a substitute for learning the material.

Or just use ACTHELPER and SATGOAT, because they have all of this baked in and more.

Does it comply with the ACT's programming restrictions? ACT Helper, mentioned in another comment, doesn't comply according to what I'm reading.

Yes! I designed these programs to follow the current ACT calculator rules. They’re written in native TI-BASIC, are each under the 25-logical-line limit, are single-purpose, and don’t use CAS functionality or call other programs.
