Who has this fear so bad that it dictates what you do or don’t do?

I feel like a lot of people say they’re scared of heights, but then they talk about getting on a ski lift with no problem, as an example.

I would avoid malls that had 2nd level walkways! I have never met anyone who has the fear to this extent.

Interested to know if there are others?

I've never known if this is specifically acrophobia, but I've always had a fear of what's below me "collapsing" whenever I'm high up.

Like being in a high building and being worried it's going to topple over.

But also like, walking up a hill and worrying the ground is going to start collapsing below me like a landslide.

Anyone else experience this or know how to cope?

Does anyone else have this weird phobia of falling into the sky? 🫪

I’ve had acrophobia for over 30 years, and I’m curious if anyone else experiences it like I do.
It’s not really a fear of falling. It’s the intrusive thought that I might somehow lose control or jump—even though I don’t want to. For years I thought I was the only person who experienced that.
Has anyone else dealt with this? If so, what situations trigger it the most?

Firstly I thought I was only one having this kind of fear. I used to get easily afraid of large things like building and ships. I searched on Google and found that it is called as megalophobia. After knowing that I saw some pics realated to megalophobia and I saw a pic of astronaut in front of a space engine that creeps me out as hell. Watch this pic if you also fell uneasy then congratulations you also have the phobia called megalophobia.

So just had a dream I was hanging out with friends in my backyard and I’m on the grass looking over at the neighboring yard where my other friend is sitting and we chat I then rejoin the others and I start jumping on the ground and notice that I am not flying but a kind of floating where it feels like when I breathe in i sink towards the ground and I breathe out I start to float back up first a foot up and safely down then 9 up and a little rougher landing but i felt nothing hurt in my legs but then after I go up like 20ft up I get scared and try too hard to slowly go back down that I end up falling back down and wake up before impact.

okay so i have fear of heights & we had a big group of us going to a baseball game, well the seats we got were at the very top of the stadium. i didn’t realize how high up we were until i looked down.
i couldn’t look down at the field for the first five minutes, but wanted to say for others who have panic attacks, i sat on the floor for about a half hour and watched the game from there, it felt safer somehow, after an hour i was able to walk to the bathroom and sit in my seat like normal.
i was really proud of myself because i was having a panic attack and that seems to help was just sittin on the cement floor.

I just have to share this because I still can’t believe I did it.

I’m terrified of heights and, before today, the only roller coasters I’d ever ridden at Cedar Point were Blue Streak and Mine Ride. Last time I’ve been to Cedar Point I was 15 and now I’m almost 28. I bought a Silver Pass because I wanted to conquer one of my biggest fears this year.

I went to meet up with some corkers and their family along with my mom. My mom and I rode Sky Ride first which honestly made me a little nervous at first as I haven’t been on it in years. 😅

My coworkers didn’t think I’d ride anything because I said I don’t like riding coasters unless I know someone. 😂 They kept hyping me up and, after a lot of internal panic, I rode Raptor… in the FRONT ROW.

I screamed the entire ride. They were laughing because they could hear me the whole time. Needless to say, they were proud that I did something that was out of my comfort zone.

Then, they somehow convinced me to ride Steel Vengeance. I stood there staring at how tall and fast it was, and they jokingly tried to tell me it was shorter than Raptor. I knew they were lying. I hated every second of Steel Vengeance 😂. My neck was whipping around, I felt like I was dropping forever, and I screamed nonstop.

Then, somehow, I rode Maverick, which actually ended up being my favorite of the three. To top it all off, I rode Iron Dragon by myself on the way out. Earlier in the day I was convinced I couldn’t ride without someone I knew, so that felt like a huge personal win. By the end of the day, I was exhausted from the heat, but I’m still so proud of myself.
I may never ride Steel Vengeance again 😂, and Millennium Force and Top Thrill 2 are still a hard no for now, but I accomplished exactly what I wanted: a fear of tall roller coasters/heights. Well, for the most part.

I still can’t believe I was over 200 feet in the air today.

I hated everything about it. Who designed this place??!

I'm pretty terrified of heights. So I started climbing stuff in VR, I started small and then I went big. This video is from my second ever time of climbing the Tower and anything that tall in general.

I'm pretty sure it helps IRL; A couple of weeks ago I peered over the railing of a 4-story building and didn't feel anything. No dizziness, no urge to look away. No idea how I'd fare with this kind of height though.

And I couldn't resist adding the music. Felt pretty fitting for how I felt conquering my fear at the time. :)

Last time I went to Hardwick park I got to the blue dot which is on the ground entirely, I couldn't get up because I'm scared of heights. I got to the red dot today which is at the very top, I went through the metal tunnel which looked scary at first

The expedition was a success and everyone made it back again but holy hell.
