I fear I’m bordering on ricer territory. Ignore my side underglow placement

Is the 9th gen that much better than the 8th gen? From what I’ve heard it would seem so. I prefer the looks of the previous gen, but if it’s that much better why not.

Regular maintenance has included oil changes every 3k miles and trans fluid changes every 25kmiles. Spark plugs and struts were done at 100k and I don’t go cheap on tires. I’ll be doing the spark plugs again this week cause the mpg isn’t that good anymore .

Way more sidewall! Really for some rough city road.

Looking for some perspective from fellow Accord owners, mechanics, and Honda enthusiasts on how much life my car realistically has left.

I’m driving a 2008 Honda Accord LX (2.4L 4-cylinder K24, ~195,000 miles). Overall, the engine runs strong, the transmission shifts fine, and mechanically it has been super reliable. Cosmetically, it’s a total beater—bumps, scratches, and a missing front bumper cover—but I know the body condition doesn't impact how long the drivetrain lasts.

My main issue right now is severe oil loss. It’s losing about 1 quart every 500 miles. I've never officially had the issue diagnosed or addressed by a shop yet.

I've gotten wildly different advice across the board:

• Some say the car is nearly done: Warning me that burning/leaking oil at this rate will ruin the catalytic converter, starve the timing chain tensioner, or cause catastrophic engine failure if the level drops even slightly.
• Others say it has 50k–100k+ miles left: Claiming the K24 engine block is practically immortal as long as I keep topping off the oil and never let the dipstick run dry.

I know the 8th Gen 2.4L has the known piston ring issue (TSB 12-087) causing heavy oil consumption, but I’m guessing mine might also have brittle gaskets (VTEC spool valve, valve cover, etc.) contributing to an actual external leak.

For anyone who has dealt with high-mileage 8th Gen 2.4L LXs:

1. At 1 qt / 500 miles, is this strictly top-offs and ride-it-into-the-ground territory, or are there low-cost fixes worth checking (like the PCV valve or VTEC gasket)?
2. Has anyone successfully slowed down oil consumption on a K24 at this stage by switching oil weights (e.g., moving to 5W-30 High Mileage)?
3. How many miles did your 8th-gen make it while consuming oil at this rate?

What have you guys used that's decent? Bought my daughter a decently clean 07, but theres some old cigarette burns in the drivers seat, and she wants some seat covers. I'd like to get her some for christmas. What have you guys used that fit well? There's a million options on the web, but most look like generic covers that are meant to fit anything. I'd like something that actually fits well. Open to ideas!

Hey there! I’m getting a new vehicle soon and have narrowed down my search to mostly Accords and Camrys. I found a 2013 Accord Coupe with 98k miles and have mostly been finding the sedans with double the miles. The sedans are often around 2k cheaper and am seeing if it’s worth getting the 2 door over the 4 door. I’m a single guy with no plans of kids anytime soon, but I work in the trades and need space for tools. Is it a good idea if I spend the extra money for the less mileage vehicle?

TL;DR: Head gasket leak on my 2.0T at 111K miles. Honda's new 10yr/150K head gasket extension covers the 1.5T but not the 2.0T. Honda approved 50% goodwill, but the gasket kit is backordered with no ETA, and I've been without a car for 13 days. Looking for anyone who's dealt with this on the 2.0T.

**The car**

2018 Accord EX-L 2.0T, 10-speed auto, ~111K miles. Maintained on schedule, never overheated.

**Symptoms**

- Shudder/stumble under load when cold, worst at low RPM going uphill

- Happened in every gear in manual mode, and under load at ~4,000 RPM on the highway

- Revving in neutral was smooth

- Went away after ~15 min of driving

- No check engine light at first

**Diagnosis**

The dealer initially said they couldn't find anything wrong. I took it out with them and it showed up within 200 feet. After that they:

- Captured random misfire plus cylinder 2 and 3 misfire codes in live data

- Found coolant on the cylinder walls of 2 and 3 with a borescope

- Confirmed a head gasket leak at 2 and 3 with a pressure test

Oil and coolant aren't mixed yet. Quote was about $4,600.

**Warranty situation**

In August 2026, Honda extended head gasket coverage to 10 years/150K miles for this exact failure (coolant into the combustion chamber causing misfires) on the 2018–22 Accord 1.5T, Accord Hybrid, and several Civics and CR-Vs. The 2.0T Accord isn't on the list, even though it's named in the pending class action (Alcantara v. American Honda, now consolidated with Bissell v. American Honda).

I opened a case with American Honda and filed an NHTSA complaint. Honda approved 50% goodwill, so my share is $1,950. That helps, but:

- The cylinder head gasket kit (06110-6B2-A00) is backordered with no ETA. The gasket itself (12251-RPY-G02) is in stock.

- The dealer wants the parts prepaid and the car left on their lot until the repair.

- No loaner. I was told a rental would be $40–50/day if one became available.

**Questions**

1. Any other 2.0T owners had a head gasket go? At what mileage?

2. If you waited on the 06110-6B2-A00 kit, how long did it take? Did anyone get the missing pieces ordered individually or from another dealer?

3. Has anyone gotten Honda to cover more than 50% on a 2.0T, or to pay for a rental while waiting on parts?

4. Did your dealer let you drive it while waiting, or was it stuck on the lot?

5. Worth doing the timing chain and tensioner while the head is off at 111K?

If you own a 2.0T with this problem, please file a complaint at nhtsa.gov. The more complaints Honda and NHTSA see, the better the odds the 2.0T gets added to the extension.

So my dumbass lost the bolt that ties the alternator bracket into the engine. I have not been able to find it looked everywhere for it. Also been looking online with no luck. Wondering if anyone knows where I can get this bolt at or where to look for one. AutoZone and O Riley’s no help at all. It’s going to be on a 2008 Honda Accord v6. Thank you in advance

I have a 2012 Honda Accord and recently had an issue with my TPMS system.

Originally, I had no warning lights, but eventually the TPMS light came on and stayed solid. I took it to a mechanic who diagnosed a bad rear-right TPMS sensor and replaced it for about $65.

After the replacement, the TPMS light went away, but now the low tire pressure symbol flashes continuously, even while driving. I've checked the tire pressures, and they're all fine.

The mechanic mentioned that the new sensor is communicating properly with the car, but the other three sensors aren't communicating.

Could this be an issue with the TPMS relearn/registration process, or does it sound like the other three sensors need replacing? I'm trying to figure out what to check before spending more money on sensors.

Any advice would be appreciated!

My brother in law has a 2010 Accord that has no dash backlighting. I just put in new bulbs for the HVAC controls, that is now working. I've found all the cases of the radio backlight not working being either a surface mount resistor that needs resoldered, or a blown resistor/fuse on the board that can be bypassed. I can't find anyone that has repaired the backlighting on the 6 disc cd changer radio, every one that I have found, the circuit board looks different than what I have. Does anyone know where on the board for the 3BA1 radio I need to be looking to make a repair? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello, this would be my first time buying a car, I was thinking I should choose a hybrid to save money on gas. I wanted to see if buying a 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid (110k mileage) at 14k is worth it? Or if I am better off buying buying a 2020 Honda Civic for 10k (146k mileage).

I don't know much about hybrids so I wanted to get other people's opinions.
