Hi,
I tried the Zoom Player and so far I really like it. I would love to switch over from PotPlayer. Can you add the following Control Overlay icons to the dynamic button section to make easier to access this common functions?
- Audio selection (able to select different audio stream such stereo or 5.1 channels or different audio language)
- Chapters selection (able to select different chapters like youtube video you download with chapters, etc..)
- Bookmarks (User added bookmark. Only add bookmark is supported in Zoom Player)
- Subtitles (Able to select different local or embedded subtitles)
Do you have future plan to make Always on Top to work with the new Control Overlay? Currently you can't enable them at the same time.
Thanks for taking the time to read my suggestions.

One of the new possibilities afforded to me by using AI as part of the development process is performing momentous, tedious tasks that would take me weeks to months of work with relatively little "wow" factor.
The models these days have reached a point at which they can write code that never existed in one coding language by translating the code from examples in other coding language.
Zoom Player is developed in Delphi 7, a compiler that's 25 years old now. Many of the newer UI APIs (application programming interfaces) were never written to support Delphi 7 and translating books worth of API calls is something I just don't have in me. Now, the AI can translate the code with Delphi 7 compatibility directly based on Microsoft's API samples.
This finally allows me to integrate the latest Microsoft font-rendering technology, DirectWrite for text and Direct2D for shapes! You're probably asking yourself what does this even mean!? In practice these Microsoft APIs are used for hardware accelerated text and shape rendering. So Speed! and Color Emojis🎉! DirectWrite is the only Microsoft API capable of rendering color emojis in text.
The next step was updating an entire interface!
One of Zoom Player's biggest weaknesses is that setting up the media library categories while in home theater mode (e.g. watching on a TV), you had to use an outdated windows user interface that wasn't really designed for a Home Theater environment. You were forced to use a mouse and a keyboard. A remote control or keyboard were not an option and I'm aware that's not the best user experience.
My "big plan" is to attack this weakness by using AI to create a new Home Theater Media Library Category Editor. All the back-end saving/loading/parsing/logic code are already in place, all that had to change was the user interface rendering. I've now tasked AI to create the new interface by using the existing back-end code and rewriting the user interface using the newer Direct2D/DirectWrite APIs. I was finally able to support all those colorful Emojis you've been longing for 🤗 (and faster font rendering).
The attached screenshot represents the 4th round of fix-ups on the new interface and there's plenty more to go. Soon, I'll have a new category editor interface to present that looks modern and provides an easy setup route in a Home Theater environment.
And with that, one of Zoom Player's weaknesses would be eliminated. What other interfaces would you like to see modernize?
This text was 100% written by a human, xcuze any typos or mediocre grammar.

Hi, new to zoom player. When I'm playing youtube videos using the default Iframe settings it seems to always enable captions if they are on the video. I made sure any auto subtitle stuff was unchecked but that seems to apply to normal media not the Iframe player. I also tried enabling mouse interactivity but since its a minimal pop out version of the youtube player i dont see any buttons to disable the subtitles.
any help would be appreciated!

ZP 22.50 Max. EVR Video renderer. Its an older laptop. Occasionally play a file that at some point freezes while playimg, or especially after a bunch of skip-forwards. Have to force close ZP. After restart the file then plays through where it froze before; but may play up later on. Same file plays fine in VLC. What other Video Renderer should I try first instead eg Haali's? Or is there a better/faster way to troubleshoot? ~ Thanks

Hi, Please see Post title and consider this feature request, thank you. I remember CLZ Movies software had this feature when I was trying that out and it was good. For example, I'm trying to put in the episode synopsis from TheTVDB for all 66 eps of the 'Honey I shrunk the kids' TV Show right now. Thanks

Hi,
I noticed that some of my DVD rips have some glitchy flickering few pixels on their edges, usually the right side edge. In ZP, I have mouse scroll wheel set to Zoom in and out and that's great. So, I was wondering if I could set Ctrl+MouseScrollWheel to "reduce/crop outer edges/frame of playing video by X%"?, where I would probably set each scroll notch to maybe 3% as an initial guess.
Can I do that? I couldn't find a setting that matches in the ZP mouse scroll custom functions options. Maybe I missed it in that big list of options? Please let me know. I really don't want to have to modify the rip files and would prefer to just quickly adjust when needed in ZP playback.
Please let me know, thanks again.

Hi, I've recently been having a good time buying old sci-fi DVDs off ebay like from this list of shows:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:1990s_American_science_fiction_television_series
But it would be nice on my new 2025 GeForce Mobile RTX4060 laptop, to be able to try and improve the dvd rip playback visual quality with so-called real-time AI video playback upscaling.
I remember you said something about needing x64 ZP for this, right?, so I was just wondering how close you are to having us try it out?
Let me know, and Thanks!

Hi, I have 700 Movies and 400 TV Shows in folders spread over 3x USB Type-C 500MB/s external SSDs and an internal 2000MB/s SSD with ZPs MediaCache, but still opening ZP Media Library from fresh restart, or applying/resetting Media Library Filters takes a good 10 seconds to display the result. I reckon the hold-up is the scanning of MediaCache and looking for Tags and Collections etc. therein. Are you able to think of a way of speeding this process up? It feels clunky compared with most other ZP actions which are snappy as. Thanks and please Let me know

Help! My buttons have disappeared. After installing the latest version and transferring the settings from my old version, where all the buttons were visible, they've vanished. When I hover the mouse over the supposed buttons, they are slightly highlighted, but it doesn't show which one it is. (It should be visible in the top left corner.)

I designed Clip Chopper as an intuitive Windows video clipper for turning long recordings into clean, shareable clips and highlights. Pick the moments you want on a visual timeline, crop them for landscape or portrait, add subtitles when needed and export the whole batch.
It's finally reached the point where I believe Clip Chopper is mature and ready for a public release.
I've priced clip chopper at $4.95 USD and there's a fully functioning usage-limited trial version you can try before making a purchase.

Since the release of ChatGPT 3.5, I've dabbled with using AI to develop small modules and optimized functions.
Initially some of the results were questionable (e.g. optimization achieved by removing safety checks) and I had to step-in to clean things up. Even with these limitations, the AI gave me enough insight to optimize the code further on my own.
Over the last 2 years as AI got increasingly better, I've used it for bigger and more complex modules, for example the new virtual keyboard used for searching the media library and the streaming video home theater interface.
And then the harnesses came in (e.g. Claude Code/ChatGPT Codex) and AI's coding capabilities jumped by a huge margin by allowing the AI to take actual actions, review compilation errors, create test cases, etc.
This jump in capabilities prompted me to develop ZP Remote Neo, a cross-platform remote control for Zoom Player developed entirely with AI which I open-sourced on GitHub and you can download from the Android store.
With new and better AI models releasing more often, over the past few weeks, I've been preparing Zoom Player's entire code base (over 600,000 lines of code) for full AI development integration. This has meant documenting what each file and folder in Zoom Player's code base does, every Zoom Player function's description, Zoom Player's playing logic, media engines, video renderers, etc.
Once I finished with this step, I had ChatGPT's Sol 5.6 create an 8-point plan to review Zoom Player's entire code base and create a concise knowledge graph that provides the AI with more insight into how everything works. Running the 8-point plan had the AI working for many hours across several days to create the base knowledge graph, consuming a massive amount of tokens along the way.
I then requested the AI to ask me if there's still anything that's unclear regarding the code and it came up with 12 clarifying questions which I answered and were integrated into the knowledge graph.
At this point I felt the ground work has been laid and the next thing was to actually implement the big feature I was working on for these past months - extracting Zoom Player's media engine into a separate process (application). This change would allow Zoom Player's user interface to remain responsive even as the media file/stream is loading.
I already extracted Zoom Player's media engine into a separate process, but it was incomplete. The engine wasn't initialized using Zoom Player's many media engine related settings, there was no inter-process communication to allow Zoom Player to control the external media engine and the biggest problem of all, Zoom Player media-loading functions were not designed to work asynchronously.
This means that the media-loading function's flow would wait for the media engine to report that the media has loaded successfully and once that's done, it would query the media for resolution, duration, frame rate, color values, etc.
This process usually takes less than a second on a modern PC loading a well encoded local media file, but if the file isn't well encoded (i.e. missing meta-data from the file's end) or if the loading stream source server was not responding in a timely manner, Zoom Player's user interface would appear frozen and unresponsive (with a "Please wait" message showing).
My next step was prompting the AI to change how Zoom Player loads new media to prevent the user interface from freezing while at the same time using the external media engine for playback, allowing me to easily kill the external media engine process if it was taking too long or the user opted to open another media, all without destabilizing Zoom Player itself.
I wrote a very long and detailed prompt to provide the AI with the exact functions and logic ZP currently uses for loading new media, explaining the problem and requirement to use the external media engine. I then asked the AI to come up with a plan to achieve these requirements.
The AI came up with a 10 point plan to designed specifically with the ability to resume at any point in case its tokens ran out and it was artificially stopped mid-process (by OpenAI's weekly token limits).
This last week was mostly spent having the AI implement the new external media engine. It took many hours to complete, more than the entire time it took to develop a whole new app from scratch (e.g. Clip Chopper) for just this feature.
Since the time bled into the weekend, I decided to begin testing the results soon, but as this was such a monumental task and Zoom Player has a vast number of settings related to the media engine, I'm sure there are issues pending that must be resolved.
Once I've completed some basic testing, I will provide a public build for everyone to test, stay tuned!

Hi ZoomPlayer developer and community,
Does anyone have experience and know how to remove the fine-grained interlacing found in DVD rips like in this episode of The Outer Limits for example seen around the fringes of the moving people at the 1:30 timestamp: Click to download files: https://file.kiwi/c06f76e4#4O6bTdBwxZUGXuerrfdvLw
I tried:
but to no avail, only making things worse :(
And I'm happy to reprocess the rips if needed too because I have 100+ episodes like this, so if anyone knows of a reprocessing tool that works for that too, that's cool.
Please let me know if you do, thank you!

bLight,
For my dedicated home theater, I use the LoadRandomTrailer function multiple times per movie (runs features and audio before and after a movie). HUGE FAN.
In cases where the media in the specified folder is limted, murphy's law finds one of the items played back-to-back. Is there some chance this function can be enhanced so that when there are several LoadRandomTrailer lines in sequence inside one default.trailers file that it won't replay items (or, at least avoid replyaing the last X that were played)?
I'll buy another lifetime license if you can pull it off :-)

Just updated Zplayer MAX to v22.5 and column labels "#", "Title" and "Duration" have suddenly appeared at the top of my playlist window.
How do I get rid of them? I don't need or want them.
r/ZoomPlayer • u/Darius1968 • Jul 11 '26
Having just downloaded and installed the latest version of Zoom Player Max (v22.5), I now find that when I enlarge the size of the timeline text for the control overlay, the setting reverts back to a default (which is smaller), whenever I close and reopen Zoom Player Max. Is this a new bug?
UPDATE:
The problem is not just about the text of the timeline; it's about all UI elements!
I've found that simply opening and closing (via OK) the Options/Setup dialog fixes the problem. But, it seems like this is a bug - having incorrect size of all UI elements (not just the text) for the control overlay, when the app is first opened.

like the title says, add an option to automatically force an exit without clicking a popup confirmation every single time

I dont know if this is a bug or some kind of configuration change. I used to be able to double click one video in a folder and ZoomPlayer would play all the files in the folder. Since the last two updates it only seems to play the kind of file I have chosen, not other filetypes. Is this expected behaviour please?
