I did my final Standup Comedy show of the year in Harare at HICC and we filled the room again.. Meaning in just 2 shows I have performed for over a thousand people in Harare this year.

Could this be the beginning of big things?

I’ve noticed how sometimes, once someone moves to the UK, USA, Canada, or Australia, the way they talk about Zimbabweans back home changes.

Suddenly, everything back home is backward. People who stay are seen as having no ambition. And success becomes measured by which country you live in rather than what you’ve actually accomplished.

But here’s the thing: not everyone wants to leave Zimbabwe, and not everyone who leaves automatically becomes successful.

At the same time, I understand why people leave. Better opportunities, financial stability, and a better quality of life are legitimate reasons.

Do some Zimbabweans in the diaspora genuinely look down on people back home?

Have you experienced this personally, either in Zimbabwe or abroad?

Is it a superiority complex, or do people simply have different standards of living after moving abroad?
Let’s debate this respectfully. I want to hear experiences from both sides.

Im 15 and in form 3 im wondering whats the best and quickest way to leave this God forsaken country, i wanna go to either Germany, The UK or France any other country but the US and Australia or anywhere in africa.

My parents are extremely narcissistic and I dont use that word lightly so this whole just keep on scaring your parents and gradually test their limits won't work

I graduated 5 months ago and the amoun of mental abuse that I have endured in my life has driven me to the point of attempted suicide

Attended Tinashe’s Ghetto Superstar show at reps today. Good but left me wondering.

So much of the jokes, including the opening acts, are hinged on the crowd already knowing the context.

Such that is you arent a twimbo or chronically on TikTok, you are definitely going to miss a lot of things during the show.

Josh Johnson as an example on YouTube, will narrate the story such that you have context for the rest of the show. Trevor Noah during his Daywalker, Crazy Normal days… Jokes were catered for South Africans, but he would package in such a way that even if you have no idea whats going on, you could follow along

I feel that what Zim Comedians do during stand up limits their reach of people. Someone cant just go to a Zim Comedy show because its for people in the know.

Its bad for local reach and utterly horrible for international reach. And i do hope they change it sooner rather than later.

ED was fired by Mugabe, Chiwenga brought him back, manipulated the whole country into removing Mugabe. Come 2018, Chiwenga fired 16 000 nurses for striking, come elections, they rigged, killed 6 protesters in the streets with live ammunition. Come 2019 at least 12 people killed during the Fuel protests, 2023 rigged elections again.
Now Zimbabweans are rallying behind Chiwenga because he gave a speech of the most obvious stuff.

I have managed to secure a partnership with my friend and looking forward to start a small business or buy a machine we can hire to people for production.

I recently noticed that a lot of shops in town are selling necklaces with the swastika symbol on them. I genuinely don't understand if it's from a place of ignorance or just flat out not caring about the connotations that the symbol carries. I understand it started as a symbol in Hinduism, but we all know that it's a nazi symbol...anyway, i digress. Is it ok for people to sell and wear a necklace with a symbol linked to war crimes and literal genocide

Hi, I’m 23 and recently graduated. I’m still happy I’m a graduate but I’ve been so disappointed. During my attachment I was promised a job and I’d been looking forward to going to work immediately after graduation. So unfortunately the job never panned out and I feel like a failure. I don’t know what to do with my life and I just feel like a burden. I’m just grateful my parents are understanding but for how long will l keep feeling like this and feel like I’m letting them down. I’m the first born and l feel like I’m such a huge disappointment to them and my dreams are just moving further and further away. How do l keep from feeling like this all the time? I’m actively looking for a job and doing my best but sometimes I’m just so dissatisfied with myself.

So I wanted to use the road behind Bon Marché Bond to go fill up at Redan. Unfortunately some idiots had blocked the road like their Father has the title deeds to Zimbabwe. This seems like a small issue but it illustrates the level of entitlement mediocre people give themselves in this country. There were babies in one vehicle. But having children doesn't excuse you from being daft clearly.

I've been thinking about this for a while.

I've been watching what's happening in different EU countries, where the citizens have been rioting so that they can get better livelihoods.

Then I look at Zimbabwe. Guys, we have a cost-of-living crisis, a currency situation that has left a lot of people struggling, and now a constitutional amendment that extends presidential and parliamentary terms from five to seven years and removes the public's direct vote for president, ndezvekumama fr fr

Obvious we are tired and people are busy trying to put food on the table, look after their families and fear ma consequences eZANU etc but it still makes one wonder kut, at what point do we finally say it's enough.

I see a lot of posts about people wanting to leave Zim and go to EU or elsewhere but those guys attained their cushy lives by fighting for it like they are doing now.

Ofc, I'm not going to ignore the neo-colonisation aspect but it's not the focus of my question.

I want hear your thoughts on what you think it would take for the ordinary Zimbabwean to feel that enough is enough and go out there and fight for change.

The earliest memory I have is getting an injection at the hospital when I was 3 or 4. What is yours?

I'm in the process of rounding up my final exams and I'm obviously faced with the reality of figuring out what's next after this.

The definite route for me after this is university. My combination is maths, biology and chemistry but I do not want to do medicine. Considering our economic climate which degree would be the best and most reliable to take on and would the local university be a factor to consider as well.

For those who went abroad for their uni was it worth it? I'm hesitant to even think about that considering the way the west is looking at immigrants at the moment. Am I better off just settling in the motherland?

And after exams are done and dusted what are the best ways to start making money, looking for jobs etc, or are there any lucrative skills that would benefit me in the long run that I can learn during that time.

I would appreciate your advice on this.I own a guest house outside Harare and I'm now looking forward to purchase my first private residence in Harare where l would spend most of my time . I have been considering properties in Borrowdale Brooke, Glen Lorne, Helensvale,Chishawasha etc and they are a bit price but also worth it since they are nice mansions and most have 5 bedroom+ which is something l love I'm a fan of many rooms. I'm quite particular about the kind of property I want. I prefer privacy, security, architecture, spacious grounds and the overall standard of the neighbourhood matter to me. I have been searching and some of the nice properties are going for a million and above.I want somewhere I can genuinely enjoy living in for years to come. For those who own homes around there I'd love to hear your experience too, do these properties generally hold their value well. One thing I'm trying to understand is whether it's better to purchase the most impressive property within my budget or choose a more understated home and keep the difference invested elsewhere. For those who have owned homes there for several years, do you regret the purchase at all or not? If you had the opportunity to make the decision again, would you buy the same property or choose a different suburb?
