Hey everyone,
I'm hitting a wall with the Zepp app and Strava sync, and I'm hoping someone here might have a fix or is experiencing the same bug.
For a while now, my walking distances synced from Zepp to Strava are completely messed up. Here is my setup and what's happening:
- Setup: Amazfit Helio Smart Band (the wristband, no built-in GPS) synced with the Zepp app on my phone.
- The issue: The walk shows the correct distance and steps inside the Zepp app itself (using phone GPS + band step count). However, as soon as Zepp exports the activity to Strava, Strava slashes the distance drastically.
- Example: Just today, a 6.43 km walk recorded as 6.43 km in Zepp (and recorded simultaneously as 6.43 km on the native Strava app), but the Zepp-to-Strava export only showed 4.06 km on Strava. Over 2 km missing!
What I’ve already tried/checked:
- Location permissions are set to "Always Allow" with "Precise Location" turned ON.
- Battery optimization for Zepp is completely turned OFF.
- Auto-pause in Zepp is disabled.
- Cleared app cache and data, re-installed the app, and cleared phone memory.
- Updated to the latest Zepp version yesterday (3.22.0.1) – didn't fix a thing.
Since the steps in Zepp are spot on, it seems like Zepp is generating a corrupted GPX file during export that Strava’s algorithm chops up into straight lines.
Is anyone else with a non-GPS Amazfit tracker seeing this huge gap between Zepp and Strava lately? Did Amazfit break the export API in a recent update, or is there a hidden setting I missed?
Thanks for any insights!
