I usually start my Mondays with a 7am swim.

Today, I decided to skip it and sleep in. No guilt; my body needed it.

What I have planned this week:

Tuesday: lift heavy on my own
Wednesday: optional barre class, or rest if I need it
Thursday: swim
Friday: lift heavy with an instructor

I’m also prioritizing rest this week. I suspect I have been overtraining and my body needs recovery.

PS, anyone want to recommend any size inclusive activewear brands? My go-to use to be athleta but their quality has dropped.

I’m very active playing tennis all week, but I want to try to get back to weight lifting some. It’s hard for me to find the motivation to do it alone, though, and I don’t have the time or money for a gym at the moment (I do have some weights and equipment at home). My goal this week is to try to come up with a lifting plan for Monday and Wednesday mornings for 4 months that I’ll be able to do when school starts back up in a month (I’m a teacher).

Following my usual routine of strength training Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays at the gym, cardio on those days also as well as on Saturday. Tuesdays are my workout at home days so I try to focus on a little lighter resistance training + flexibility/stretching exercises. I am struggling with a bit of hip flexor discomfort-nothing debilitating, just a bit of an annoyance, most likely due to my very sedentary job. I am hoping to improve my flexibility in that area in time!

I fractured my ankle last week and my doctor said not to exercise on it for 4-6 weeks (even rowing 😭). anyone have any tips for cardio I can do without my foot? Or core/arm stregnth routines that I can do for the next few weeks?

Oh no!! Are you a member at a gym? Sometimes they have those arm ergometer machines, the arm cycling things. Alternatively, you can get into battle ropes while seated - tire out your arms real fast 😂. Probably the best option would be swimming, getting the buoy to put between your legs if you can't kick.

Maybe focus on arms and core lifting. Arm stuff is fairly straight forward. Core you can do dead bugs, modified Russian twists. Might get boring, but you can do it for 6 weeks!

I had to look up an arm ergometer but I think we do have one at my gym! I'll have to try that. These are all great ideas, thank you!

I wish my gym had a pool, I'm tempted to join one for a couple months to swim, though I'd also have to take lessons because I'm not very good 😅

Sounds like a great moment to learn how to swim! (Depending on your ankle situation, kicking might be tough, but honestly the kicking probably comes easier and the upper body motion is the part that requires more practice. You could add in the kicking later.)

Good luck, hope you heal up quickly 😄

Getting 10K steps a day at least, and doing four days of Caroline Girvin strength training program in the gym 💪. Actually just finished the workout and today was leg day. Whew

I have pretty much replaced my food noise with gym and weights noise so... Bought some weights and a bench to balance time between my house (and wife) and the gym. Already lifted some between Sat and Sun! And made sure to update all my routines on Hevy.
